Background / History

Moyun transmigrated into the world of One Piece seventeen years before the beginning of the main story and became a Celestial Dragon. Unlike many of his fellow World Nobles, he rejected slavery and used his strength to punish Celestial Dragons who abused or captured civilians. He secretly ate the Chaos Fruit stored in Mary Geoise’s Flower Room without facing punishment. 1 2

When CP0 reported that Luffy had begun his journey, Moyun recognized that the major events of the world were starting. Rather than wait for Luffy or another figure to uncover the Void Century, he decided to investigate the world’s hidden history himself. His initial plan centered on the Poneglyphs and the scholars of Ohara. 1 2

Moyun left Mary Geoise aboard a small, advanced ship made from Adam Tree wood. Before his departure, Lillianlo gave him the Dog-Dog Fruit, Model: Moon Wolf, which he intended to give to the injured white dog ShSh. He sailed first to the ruins of Ohara, where he used the Chaos Fruit’s resurrection power to summon Nico Olvia. 2 3

Olvia initially refused to help him decipher the Poneglyphs, but changed her mind after learning that her daughter Robin was alive and persecuted by the World Government. Moyun restored Olvia to a seventeen-year-old body, linking her life to his own and placing her soul under his control. He promised to restore her freedom if she helped uncover the truth of the Void Century. 3

In Orange Town, Moyun gave the Moon Wolf Devil Fruit to ShSh, allowing the dog to transform into a powerful white wolf. He supported ShSh’s revenge against Richie for the destruction of its master’s pet shop, then took ShSh aboard his ship. Moyun’s interference also led to his first clash with Luffy and altered the expected sequence of events. 4 6

Moyun later resurrected Kuina at her grave after proving his ability to Koshiro by killing and reviving a butterfly. Kuina accepted his condition that she accompany him and immediately resumed her ambition to become the world’s greatest swordsman. By the time the group reached the Grand Line, Moyun had developed his spatial abilities enough to teleport his entire ship across Reverse Mountain. He continued influencing major events while trying to keep his group concealed, including securing Yubashiri for Kuina before Zoro could obtain it and observing Dragon’s intervention in Loguetown. 41 42 45

At Brandy Island, Moyun investigated an operation connected to Kaido’s forces and the failed SMILE experiments that had left the townspeople emotionally numb. He joined forces with the fugitive Palo Cruz, defeated a spy, and transported the group to the abandoned factory on the mountain summit. 47 50

Moyun is a short, silver-haired young man with a youthful, baby-faced appearance. His revived companions initially mistake him for a child despite his stated age of seventeen. He is described as handsome and places considerable importance on his hair and appearance. 1 3 23 33

Despite his background, Moyun strongly opposes slavery and the abuse of civilians. He recognizes that personally beating cruel Celestial Dragons cannot fix the system that enables them, which motivates his decision to leave Mary Geoise and pursue a larger goal. 1 2
