Silver Wolf raised an eyebrow. "Oh?"
She perked up. She hadn't expected the other party to be able to alter the information she saw.
But on second thought, she was currently borrowing the Player System. Someone else's things really weren't reliable.
But that also meant the other party existed above this system.
"Hello? Is the goddess asleep?" Windchaser asked in a low, uncertain voice.
The figure slowly opened her eyes, her gaze falling upon the group.
At last, it settled on Silver Wolf.
"..."
The silence lasted for several short seconds.
Windchaser quietly said, "Why does it feel like she's been staring at the Wolf Venerable?"
Silver Wolf didn't answer, because she was observing the other party as well.
The Goddess of Life spoke. Her voice was very soft, yet it could be heard throughout the entire space.
"Travelers from beyond this world, thank you for bringing me news of Her."
"I grieve for Sen Yue's plight. She has told us that an existence from beyond this world is helping the Abyss."
"This is exceedingly dangerous. I need courageous travelers to help me find that unknown existence."
The Goddess of Life slowly rose to her feet and lightly tapped with a single finger, drawing startled cries from Windchaser and Vernacular Poet.
"And I will grant you items to protect yourselves."
Silver Wolf crossed her arms. "What about mine?"
The Goddess of Life fell silent. After thinking for a moment, she said, "We'll discuss that last."
Silver Wolf narrowed her eyes, finding it quite interesting. "Fine."
The Goddess of Life raised her head and looked toward the sky.
"The Abyss is devouring the world ever faster. Travelers from other worlds, this disaster will unfold once more, until the world collapses, all things wither, and everything returns to the Abyss."
"At this turning point of fate, only you can reverse this inevitable tragedy."
As her words ended, amid the stars that had once shone brilliantly in the sky—
A tiny black fissure seemed to be slowly widening.
Windchaser nodded and did not interrupt the Goddess of Life, as though she were watching a cutscene.
Vernacular Poet was the same, only nodding along.
Silver Wolf sent them a message through the system: "Are you guys watching an animation? Can't talk or something? Why are you so quiet?"
"Yeah," Windchaser replied immediately.
Vernacular Poet, on the other hand, didn't reply. He answered Silver Wolf with his body.
Vigorous nodding
The ridiculous sight made Silver Wolf burst out laughing.
The Goddess of Life ignored the comical scene and continued:
"In the distant northern snowfields lies a former secret realm. There should be some clues there. I wish to ask this of you."
"Travelers from other worlds, only you can do this."
Then, as if the animation had ended, Windchaser immediately spoke up. "Okay! We accept."
Vernacular Poet was more reserved. "We accept."
Then Vernacular Poet and Windchaser were instantly teleported away.
Silver Wolf folded her arms and used Aether Editing to create a plastic chair, sitting down on it directly.
"You sent them away. What is it that they can't know?"
Silver Wolf could tell without even thinking what the other party's current actions were for.
"It can't be helped. Our world is at a critical juncture, after all." The Goddess of Life smiled lightly as she walked up to Silver Wolf. "For the sake of survival, it's fine to use a few insignificant tricks, isn't it?"
Ignoring the starkly contradictory Goddess of Life, Silver Wolf pressed on. "So? Why did you specifically keep me here?"
"Wolf Venerable, you've probably guessed my identity. I won't belabor it." The Goddess of Life created a chair and sat opposite Silver Wolf, while a translucent table appeared between them.
"Oh, come on. The 'audience' definitely wants to know."
I'm talking about you, not anyone else.
"I see. Then allow me to introduce myself again." The Goddess of Life's clothes changed once more. From the simple outfit she had worn at first, they suddenly gained many small ornaments—stars, as well as several crowns.
"I am this world's Primordial, the sole High Heaven, the first living being."
"You may call me Phanes."
Silver Wolf was startled. Damn, was this setting inspired by that other Primordial?
"It seems you know something about me." Phanes nodded lightly.
Silver Wolf felt a little awkward. She actually didn't know anything; what she knew was the Phanes from next door... Yet that had made the other party misunderstand.
She continued, "So you created this game to trick them?"
"It doesn't count as tricking them. The Primordial on their side has certainly noticed me too, but has not intervened and tacitly approved of this arrangement." Phanes was silent for a while before finally voicing her speculation. "I believe the other party is cooperating with me."
"Cooperating how?" Silver Wolf was speechless. They hadn't even met, and they were already cooperating?
"At least they didn't stop me, did they?" Phanes spoke without the slightest pressure, as if the life-or-death crisis she had mentioned earlier had nothing to do with her. "Wolf Venerable, can you share your power with me?"
"After helping you beat people up, you want to suck my blood too?" Silver Wolf was speechless. Her favorability toward Phanes was plummeting.
"No, no... Just show me. I can sense that your power isn't impossible to learn. It seems very lively." Phanes carefully revised her wording.
Silver Wolf casually edited a Diamond Sword into existence, then tossed it onto the table.
"Wow..." Phanes examined it carefully before asking, "Then what do you want, Wolf Venerable?"
Silver Wolf first glanced at the Level 999 still displayed in her information. "How about this? Tell me the coordinates of their world, then open a round-trip passage for me. I'll go over there and play from time to time."
Phanes stopped moving, then looked at Silver Wolf thoughtfully. "I... can do that."
Silver Wolf teased, "What, are you afraid your game disguise will be exposed?"
"Mm... But perhaps it's about time for them to know the truth too..."
"Well, that's your problem to think about. Send me the coordinates—oh, right. Why not just change that Player System of yours into a player?"
"Oh my god, you're a genius!" Phanes exclaimed.
"Obviously."
After some tinkering
Silver Wolf held the now-whitelisted Player System. "I'm really curious how you came up with that."
Phanes smiled at Silver Wolf. "Perhaps this is the result of destiny."
Silver Wolf lifted her gaze to Phanes and muttered inwardly, Seriously, shouldn't saving the world be left to Trailblaze?
"If you don't want to say it, you don't have to. I'm leaving." Silver Wolf waved her hand, then teleported herself away.
After watching Silver Wolf leave, Phanes's eyes instantly darkened.
"An unknown existence from the distant universe has been watching her all this time..."
"Perhaps everything really will come to an end."
