Berkeley did not leave because his legs had gone weak; he could not move at all.
"Holy crap... that was terrifying! If I hadn't reacted quickly and opened a Portal in time, I'd have been done for," Berkeley muttered under his breath.
He looked at Zhang Yang and Aili's backs with a tearful expression.
He carefully patted his still-pounding chest with trembling hands. Before he could calm down, he heard Zhang Yang shout, "Senior Brother!"
Berkeley hurriedly put on a composed front and looked up in Zhang Yang's direction.
It would have been better if he had not looked.
The moment he did, Berkeley felt like he was about to collapse again.
What the hell!
Hulk?!
"Senior Brother! Hulk is back!" Once Zhang Yang and Aili reached Berkeley's side, Zhang Yang hurriedly said.
"I know! It's not like I'm blind!" Berkeley looked like he was about to cry.
He was only an Apprentice Sorcerer. His Portals could not stay open for very long, nor could they reach particularly far.
At most, he could keep one open for five to ten minutes before Hulk came back out of it himself.
Well, this was just great. Hulk had gone in through Berkeley's Portal.
And come out on another street.
And this time, Berkeley had clearly enraged Hulk!
Though Hulk went berserk after transforming and attacked indiscriminately regardless of friend or foe, he was crazy, not stupid.
This time, Hulk had learned his lesson.
He did not bother with any flashy moves. He charged straight at Berkeley, moving twice as fast as before, his fury noticeably heavier.
Berkeley had originally intended to open another Portal, but seeing how furious Hulk was, his hands stopped obeying him.
Berkeley was not particularly weak. After all, he had been the best among the previous class of Apprentices.
But he had one fatal flaw: he was terrified of dying and cowardly to the extreme.
His hands shook so badly that he could not use any of the magic he had learned at Kamar-Taj. Fear kept him from concentrating his spiritual power.
He could not cast magic freely, either.
Berkeley knew that if this continued, he would definitely die.
So he hurriedly said to Zhang Yang, "Zhang Yang, you handle this one!"
Zhang Yang had been expecting to see Berkeley use some advanced magic, so being suddenly called out caught him off guard.
He pointed at himself. "Me?"
"Of course! This is your first training session! Let me see what you've learned in your week at Kamar-Taj! Don't worry, if you can't beat him, Senior Brother will help you!" Berkeley said with a straight face.
The more Berkeley thought about it, the more foolish he felt.
Why had he not used the incredibly gifted junior brother standing right beside him?!
In terms of strength, Zhang Yang was now far stronger than Berkeley knew!
"Quick! Life doesn't give you that much time to think and prepare!" Seeing that Hulk had already charged over while Zhang Yang was still dazed, Berkeley urged.
At that moment, Zhang Yang clearly realized that danger had arrived.
Hulk clenched his fist. The fist that could nearly crush Zhang Yang's entire body in one hand kicked up a cloud of sand and stones as it smashed toward the three of them.
Before Zhang Yang's mind could react, his hand had already risen, drawing an enormous Portal at the fastest speed of his life.
Hulk's fist smashed directly into the Portal, and his whole body tumbled in after it.
"My god! That was close!"
"That speed! So fast!"
Berkeley and Aili stared at Zhang Yang in stunned silence before crying out.
Zhang Yang had opened that Portal unbelievably fast!
It was practically comparable to the speed of Arch-Sorcerer Wong's casting!
He had only drawn one three or four times, yet he was already this proficient?!
A monster! What an absolute monster!
But...
"Zhang Yang, where did you send Hulk?" Berkeley asked, still shaken.
"Senior Brother, I think... I sent Hulk to Asgard..." Zhang Yang scratched his head awkwardly.
"..." Berkeley said, "Then why aren't you closing the Portal?! Are you waiting for Odin to come looking for trouble?!"
Day after day!
He really could not catch a break!
Chapter 33
Asgard. Asgard Palace.
At that moment, it was the middle of the night in Asgard.
The All-Father Odin and Queen Frigga had already gone to sleep. In his dreams, Odin sensed a familiar power tearing at his barrier.
He abruptly opened his eyes.
Odin rose and saw a yellow circle appear in the air. The next second—
A green giant clenched his fists and charged straight at Odin, roaring, "Aah!"
Odin's gaze turned sharp.
With a wave of his hand, Gungnir flew from a nearby weapon rack and, with one strike, smashed Hulk out of the palace.
Boom!
The tremendous crash echoed through Asgard.
A massive hole had been smashed into the magnificent palace wall. It took a long while for the sound to fade.
Queen Frigga jolted awake, her face pale with shock.
She hurriedly pulled the blanket around herself and asked, "What happened?"
Before her words had even faded, a group of Asgardian guards in armor and carrying weapons rushed in.
"All-Father!"
The guards quickly knelt upon seeing Odin.
They then went to inspect the hole and saw a middle-aged man lying silently on the ground. He did not appear to be from Asgard.
The commander immediately knelt and said, "All-Father! An unidentified intruder has been discovered in Asgard. Shall we take him to the dungeon?!"
Yet Odin did not speak.
His face alternated between green and white.
Rather than throwing this man into the dungeon, Odin more desperately wanted to throw Zhang Yang, who had cast the Portal, into one!
Odin did not need to go to Kamar-Taj to know.
In all of Kamar-Taj, aside from The Ancient One, only Zhang Yang could break Odin's barrier!
The last time, Zhang Yang had livestreamed him being intimate with his wife. Fine, whatever!
But this time, while he and his wife were sleeping, Zhang Yang had sent the Hulk over!
No, was Zhang Yang deliberately trying to make trouble for him or what?!
Looking at the damaged palace wall, Odin took a deep breath.
The more he tried to let it go, the angrier he became!
Damn it!
If it were not for Zhang Yang's special status, Odin truly would have sent Asgardian warriors to capture Zhang Yang and execute him immediately!
"Throw him into the dungeon!"
Odin said in a low voice. After a moment, he sighed and added, "And send someone to repair the wall tomorrow morning!"
"Zhang Yang, you could have picked a fight with anyone, so why did you have to pick one with the All-Father Odin?!"
Berkeley was feeling rather depressed.
He had never expected Zhang Yang to send Hulk straight to Asgard with a single Portal.
It had not even been two days since Zhang Yang last provoked Odin.
And now Zhang Yang had provoked Odin again.
Good grief?!
There was probably no way Zhang Yang and Odin could resolve this grudge!
"This..." Zhang Yang scratched his head.
It had been an emergency. Zhang Yang had not looked carefully, and with a casual wave of his hand, he had sent Hulk right to Odin.
More importantly, Zhang Yang had cast a Portal in Asgard once before.
So this time, he had instinctively thought of Asgard's coordinates.
He really did owe Odin an apology.
"Ah, forget it. What's done is done." Berkeley sighed. No matter what, it had already happened. Since Hulk had reached Odin, he probably would not be coming back.
No matter what, having that Hulk gone would save them some trouble.
After all, Hulk did not have much of a brain and could not distinguish enemies from allies. He was truly difficult to deal with.
Thinking of that—
Berkeley finally felt somewhat relieved.
Hulk really was hard to handle.
Just as he was about to have Zhang Yang and Aili continue rescuing people, he suddenly heard an angry roar. Before Zhang Yang and the others could react, a fierce gust of wind swept over them.
Very soon—
A hammer appeared before Berkeley.
As the hammer landed, a powerful burst of energy rippled outward.
Berkeley shouted, "Block!"
Berkeley, Zhang Yang, and Aili simultaneously cast the Rings of Raggadorr, blocking the surge of energy.
Once the dust and sand dispersed—
The three of them finally saw two men standing some distance away.
One had long golden hair, wore a red cape, and held a hammer in his hand.
The other wore a blue, white, and red combat suit, a mask over his head, and carried a shield.
The two stood opposite Zhang Yang's group, neither looking pleased.
Before Zhang Yang and the others could speak, the man holding the hammer stepped forward and angrily rebuked them, "Foolish mortals! Where did you send Hulk?"
Foolish... mortals?!
Berkeley had already been scared out of his wits by Hulk, leaving him feeling rather embarrassed.
Now that he heard the hammer-wielding man mock him like that, he immediately became enraged.
