Background / History

Shiori was abandoned by her birth mother as a child and later raised by the Itsuka family. At the insistence of her adoptive father, Tatsuo, she was made to live publicly as the boy “Shido Itsuka,” using a short blue wig and androgynous clothes while serving as Kotori’s nominal older brother. Only Kotori and their parents knew her true gender. 2 111

The imposed identity restricted Shiori’s ordinary social life and encouraged her to suppress interests she considered feminine, including her fondness for cute items. Her early abandonment also left her unusually unable to ignore sadness or suffering in others, even after the Itsuka family gave her a secure home. 5 16 21

Before the main Spirit incidents, Shiori met Qian Huanyue during a grocery errand.
