From the moment Fugaku's ordinary eyes awakened the One Tomoe to the Three-Tomoe Sharingan he had now, every new tomoe had brought him a fresh understanding.
The leap from the Three-Tomoe Sharingan to the Mangekyo Sharingan was a qualitative change, nothing like gaining another tomoe. It required an enormous amount of Pupil Power, a threshold that held back most Uchiha prodigies.
The Mangekyo Sharingan was also the crucial step that took an Uchiha from an ordinary Ninja to a true powerhouse.
Pupil Power poured in without pause. The spinning tomoe accelerated, and soon a Mangekyo Sharingan appeared in each eye. Fugaku tried to activate the ability of one eye.
Nothing happened. Activating the other eye produced the same result. Fugaku understood: these cloned bodies could awaken the Mangekyo Sharingan after all.
But they still had a flaw. Neither eye had awakened an individual ability. Perhaps it was a genetic defect, or perhaps the body had never developed a personality or any deep-seated obsession. Fugaku had no intention of digging into it.
He activated both eyes at once. A deep-blue Light Barrier was about to surge upward, but Fugaku immediately cut off the supply of Pupil Power. The individual abilities had not awakened, but Susanoo had.
Susanoo was, after all, a standard ability of the Uchiha clan's Mangekyo Sharingan. Fugaku glanced across the village, taking in the beautiful view, then headed home.
The power of an individual Mangekyo Sharingan eye seemed almost insignificant beside the Eternal Eye. Even Obito's Kamui could only protect him; in a head-on fight, it was no match for Madara Uchiha's Eternal Eye.
Fugaku felt little regret over the missing abilities. Once he had formed the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan, he could inject himself with First-Generation Cells and eventually awaken the Rinnegan.
