"If Takigawa hadn't joined us, how could I have shown up here at exactly the right moment? Did you think it was a coincidence? Ha! What a naive ninja," the shadowy figure said.
"No matter what you say, I won't believe you! Takigawa is a pillar of the Uchiha. He would never join you!" Sanada roared.
"What difference does it make whether a dead man believes me? Don't worry. Plenty of your fellow Uchiha will soon follow you into the afterlife."
Sanada thought back to the figure's claim that he worked for Danzo. A terrible suspicion took hold.
"Konoha's leadership wants to wipe out the Uchiha? And Danzo's defection was a sham?" Sanada asked in disbelief.
"So you're not completely stupid. But figuring it out won't help you. You're the only one who knows, and you'll die here today.
"The Uchiha will be wiped out one by one. Even your beloved Clan Head will soon meet the same end."
"What a joke. You have no idea how strong Fugaku is. Die!"
Sanada vanished with the Body Flicker Technique. His Sharingan spun rapidly as he fixed his gaze on the figure in the black mist.
Just as Sanada closed in, the black mist vanished, taking the figure with it.
Sanada was certain his opponent hadn't moved. He trusted the perception of his Sharingan; the figure couldn't have moved too fast for it to track.
Even against the Third Raikage, Sanada could see his movements, though he often couldn't react in time. His eyes could still follow him.
But this figure had left no trace of movement. There was only one possibility.
At that moment, a dark shape flashed before Sanada's eyes. A Kunai slashed across his body, leaving another wound.
Clutching the wound, Sanada scanned his surroundings. There was nothing there.
