Sea God's Light
The next morning, as dawn broke.
Led by Sea Horse Douluo, Li Xun and his companions arrived at the foot of Sea God Mountain. As soon as they approached, they immediately felt a majestic and solemn atmosphere surrounding them, as if some special energy was suppressing them, making their hearts heavy.
"Come on, Xiao San, let's give it a try!" Li Xun said.
Tang San nodded. As one of only two men in the team, he naturally felt obligated to take the lead.
The next moment, the two leaped into the air and rushed towards the steps.
Bang! Bang! Two muffled thuds sounded almost simultaneously. Just as Li Xun and Tang San rushed to the steps, they seemed to have crashed into a resilient wall, and were bounced back, flying more than ten meters. Fortunately, the momentum of their forward rush was not too strong, but even so, they staggered backward and barely managed to regain their footing.
The two looked at each other and saw the horror in each other's eyes.
"What happened?" Shui Bing'er asked as the others gathered around.
Li Xun, "It felt like I hit a very elastic wall. All my momentum was bounced back, and I couldn't resist at all. Xiao San, what about you?"
Tang San nodded. "Me too. It seems that the area truly covered by the Sea God's Light begins from the foot of the stairs."
Sea Horse Douluo explained from the side, "Any energy or physical attack will be reflected. You can only climb step by step under the pressure of the reflection. You can use protective and amplifying skills."
Everyone nodded.
Upon returning to the steps, Li Xun was the first to step onto them, slowly raising his right leg to stride towards the first step.
As soon as his right leg entered the step, a powerful resistance appeared in front of his leg, forcefully pushing him forward. Once he was on the step, an immense pressure overwhelmed him, squeezing his body like pressing a finger into a balloon, the balloon trying to pop the finger out. A layer of golden mist appeared around his body, and Li Xun could clearly feel his Soul Power beginning to deplete rapidly.
Withstanding the pressure, he took the second step. Upon reaching the second step, the pressure intensified again, by about ten percent compared to the first step.
Taking a deep breath, Li Xun quickened his pace, taking three steps forward to reach the fifth step. The pressure from the front surged towards him like a tidal wave. He did a quick calculation and was surprised to find that even a level 30 Soul Master would need to exert all their strength to barely stand on this fifth step.
At this moment, Tang San also arrived beside him, bearing the same pressure. The two exchanged a glance and continued forward, reaching the twentieth step in one go.
Sweat began to appear at their temples as they simultaneously activated their Martial Soul Amplification Soul Skill to alleviate the pressure. However, starting from the twentieth step, each step became exceptionally difficult. By the time they reached the thirtieth step, watermarks had appeared on the ground, formed by their sweat. The golden mist around their bodies noticeably thickened, and their faces turned bright red, clearly indicating that they had used all their Soul Power.
Tang San stopped, while Li Xun continued upwards.
When they reached the thirty-first and thirty-second steps, sweat poured down their faces like a fountain, but Li Xun gritted his teeth and continued climbing. Tang San, seeing this, also gritted his teeth and unleashed his Soul Bone Skill to catch up.
Thirty-three, thirty-four, thirty-five, thirty-six, thirty-seven. Tang San's steps stopped. Just as he took his thirty-eighth step, the Soul Power in his body could no longer support the simultaneous use of the three Soul Skill. His body paused for a moment, and the next moment he rolled out, being thrown away like a cannonball under the enormous pressure.
Thump— Tang San crashed directly into the Ring Sea, landing nearly seventy meters from the shore. This shows just how immense the pressure he had endured was.
Xiao Wu rushed over to help him and pulled him out of the water. Tang San was soaking wet, pale, and almost exhausted of his Soul Power. He leaned against the shore and panted for a while before he could catch his breath.
The solemn expressions on everyone's faces deepened. Tang San was the number two among them, and even he stopped at level thirty-eight; others would only fare worse.
Li Xun is still up there.
He stopped on the thirty-ninth step, not rushing to take a step, but instead slowly closed his eyes to everyone's astonishment.
He stood with his eyes closed under the immense pressure of the Sea God's Light, his body surrounded by a mixture of blood-red malevolent energy and Soul Power, a thin layer of golden mist swirling around him, as he gradually sensed the texture of that repelling force.
"What is he doing?" Ning Rongrong asked in a low voice.
Light Feather Douluo narrowed his eyes and said calmly, "He's adapting. He's using pressure to hone his Soul Power circulation."
Golden Crocodile Douluo clicked his tongue. "This kid is treating the assessment like a training ground."
Li Xun stood for several dozen breaths before opening his eyes again and stepping onto the fortieth step. The pressure increased sharply, and his body sank slightly before he regained his balance and continued upward. Forty-one, forty-two, forty-three... the pressure increased with each step, but the rhythm of his steps never wavered, as steady as if he had measured it out.
Upon reaching the fiftieth step, the pressure of the Sea God's Light was so terrifying that the crowd below felt suffocated just watching. Li Xun's pace finally slowed down, requiring a pause after each step before continuing. Fine beads of sweat appeared on his forehead, and his Soul Power consumption was visibly increasing, but his steady demeanor never wavered.
Level 55, Level 58, Level 60.
As he stepped onto the sixtieth step, the entire Sea God Mountain seemed to tremble slightly, and the golden mist was so thick that it almost swallowed his figure. The crowd below held their breath.
Bo Saixi had somehow found herself standing at the edge of the stone platform, her sea-blue dress billowing in the sea breeze. Her calm gaze fell on Li Xun, and she narrowed her eyes slightly.
Li Xun stopped at the sixtieth step, glanced back down, made a gesture in Tang San's direction, and then stepped back down.
After landing, he patted the golden mist off his body, stretched his sore shoulders, and looked relatively calm, although his Soul Power was obviously depleted.
Tang San came up to him, shaking his head with a wry smile, "You climbed twenty-two more steps than me."
Li Xun, "You were thrown back because you exhausted your Soul Power, but I retreated voluntarily. It's different."
Tang San said, "That's because you climbed higher than me."
Ning Rongrong chimed in, "Alright, alright, you two stop bragging to each other. A Xun has already met the standard, what about the rest of us? Are we still going to climb?"
Sea Horse Douluo stepped forward and said, "The Sea God's Light First Trial has different requirements for each person according to their own test level. Those who take the ninth test need to be at least level 60 to pass, those who take the eighth test need to be at least level 50, those who take the seventh test need to be at least level 40, and those who take the fifth and sixth tests only need to be at least level 30. Those who do not meet the requirements can try again."
Tang San was taken aback upon hearing this, and looked at Li Xun: "So you're at level sixty, which is the standard for the Eight Trials?"
Li Xun nodded. "It's worth it to get a piece of the action while I'm at the Asura God Fourth Trial."
Tang San's lips twitched, but he didn't say anything more.
Next, Ning Rongrong, Zhu Zhuqing, Xiao Wu, and others took turns trying.
