Background and History

Li Xun arrived on Douluo Continent from a modern world after accepting a system’s offer to transmigrate. The system disappeared almost immediately, saying it had chosen the wrong person. Raised in Holy Soul Village by Li Hu and Shui Yuerou, he befriended Tang San and regularly invited him to eat with his family 1 12.

The Heavenly Screen exposed Li Xun’s possible future before his martial-soul awakening. Tang Hao then awakened his martial souls himself. Li Xun trained with Tang San and Xiao Wu, later using Whale Rubber and rare herbs to strengthen his body before taking an unusually old second soul ring 3 34 35 50 54. When Qian Renxue approached him disguised as Crown Prince Xue Qinghe, he recognized her identity from memories received after the screen vanished. He joined Spirit Hall because she asked him personally 88 89. Six years later, he entered Heaven Dou Royal Academy to pursue the Continental Advanced Soul Master Tournament rather than remain hidden from factions seeking him 91 92.

Before leaving for Slaughter City, Li Xun publicly challenged Yu Xiaogang’s soul-ring theories by displaying his five-ring configuration. Yu Yuanzhen apologized for his son’s behavior and gave Li Xun Thunder Dragon Grass, which he used to further temper his body 108 109. Li Xun then spent two years in Slaughter City, winning a hundred consecutive death matches and completing Hell Road. There he met the First-Generation Asura God and accepted the Asura Nine Trials, while Tang Chen’s existing inheritance was declared a failure 124 126 128.

Tang Hao escorted Li Xun to Spirit City, where he reunited with his academy companions before their semifinal against the Star Luo Empire Academy Team. Heaven Dou Royal Academy subsequently won the tournament, and Li Xun accepted and distributed the championship soul bones 128 154. He later told Qian Daoliu that his Asura Second Trial required a hundred-thousand-year sixth soul ring and secured the worshippers’ escort to the Star Dou Great Forest. When Di Tian and the ferocious beasts confronted the party, Li Xun stepped forward alone to introduce himself and request a favor 157 160.

The screen’s account of his later life says he and Tang San helped stop Bibi Dong’s attempt to unite the continent. After Li Hu died following mistreatment by nobles, Li Xun killed many noble leaders while pursuing a world without inherited privilege. His methods brought him into conflict with Tang San and Qian Renxue; their battle ended in an appeal to his ideals and their personal bonds 2 4 9 11. In that future, he eventually withdrew from public life to research technology, compose music and raise his children with Qian Renxue 2 13.

Later broadcasts show his influence extending beyond Douluo Continent. He travels with Qian Renxue to the Five Elements Continent, where he restores Lie Yan to life, and visits the Divine Realm with companions including Gu Yuena 69 98. His future research also produces an Equal Soul Spirit Contract that offers humans and soul beasts an alternative to obtaining soul rings through killing. He establishes its first demonstrated contract between his daughter Li Mushuang and a thousand-year Radiant Flame Tiger 134 135. The screen further identifies the Sun Moon Empire’s Xu Changle as his future disciple and shows the technologically advanced city of Mingdu preparing to welcome him 144 157.

Li Xun is depicted first as a handsome boy and later as a tall, slender young man with a composed bearing 1 70 91.

Personality

Li Xun is playful with family and friends, but cautious when public attention could put them at risk. He refuses conventional schooling while the Heavenly Screen has made him and Tang San targets, yet later decides he cannot hide indefinitely if he wants to compete in the tournament 12 19 35 91.

He trusts Tang San with the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well’s herbs, accepts dangerous cultivation opportunities on his advice, and takes care in distributing later gifts so they do not cause resentment among friends 50 52 96. The future screen also shows a harsher side: his commitment to equality survives his friends’ opposition, though seeing them gravely wounded breaks his murderous resolve long enough for him to heal them 4 5 9.

Despite knowing the screen’s predictions, Li Xun tells Ning Rongrong that they will not define his destiny. He is nevertheless hesitant to answer his companions’ romantic confessions, leaving their relationships unresolved before the tournament semifinals 129 131. His consideration for the team also appears in his allocation of soul bones: he prioritizes compatibility and promises future compensation to Ye Lingling and Shui Bing’er rather than treating their lack of an immediate reward as unimportant 154.

In Slaughter City, he is ruthless toward attackers but relies on calm judgment rather than uncontrolled aggression. He recognizes how dependent ordinary Soul Masters are on their martial souls and ring skills, exploiting those weaknesses when the city restricts their powers 115 122 124. He also remains composed before far stronger figures, stepping between Spirit Hall’s worshippers and Di Tian’s assembled beasts to prevent an immediate clash 160.

• Four Swords of Zhu Xian: His combat martial soul. He can command all four swords simultaneously, using their sword energy to cut restraints and guard against attacks from multiple directions 3 36.

Li Xun’s future research develops an Equal Soul Spirit Contract, offering a means of cooperation between humans and soul beasts without sacrifice or death. Gu Yuena describes the system as allowing soul beasts to remain alive, cultivate, survive tribulations and continue their lineages 134.

• First demonstrated contract: Establishes a contract between Li Mushuang and a thousand-year Radiant Flame Tiger selected by Gu Yuena for its light and fire attributes. Li Mushuang’s Six-Winged Angel martial soul manifests during the process 135.
