Xie Liuzheng whipped her head around to look at him, her beautiful eyes filled with shock.

It didn't feel right to listen in on someone's thoughts without telling her.

"I tried to bring it up with Suìsuì," Xie Zhiyu said. "But whenever I broach the subject, some unknown force stops me from telling her the truth."

After rebuilding his understanding of the world in the wake of hearing her thoughts, he had tried to talk to Shen Baili.

As the other person caught up in this unnatural phenomenon, Shen Baili had a right to know the truth.

"I don't know what triggers it, or how she knows these secrets. But there's no denying that we're the ones benefiting."

Everyone had secrets, and Xie Zhiyu wasn't the sort to pry into someone else's until he got to the bottom of them. "I respect her privacy, and I'll keep her safe."

If anyone set their sights on Shen Baili because she might be able to foresee the future, the consequences would be unthinkable.

Xie Liuzheng stared at Xie Zhiyu, taken aback by how solemn he was. She understood how serious this was.

"I'll keep it secret. I won't tell anyone." She paused. "Not even Duan Xing."

"Tell me what you heard in her thoughts," Xie Zhiyu said, turning to another important matter.

Now that they had spoken openly, they could share what else they knew.

Xie Liuzheng looked a little embarrassed. "She said Duan Xing has an illegitimate son, and that he plans to use this adoption agreement to make the boy legally my child..."

Xie Zhiyu's face darkened. "How dare he?!"

Xie Liuzheng still clung to one last shred of hope. She closed her eyes in pain.

"So... find proof that will make me believe he betrayed me."

Find solid evidence, so I can stop clinging to hope.

"All right," Xie Zhiyu said grimly.

The next day, Shen Baili went to school as usual. "Class monitor, a handsome guy's looking for you."

Zhu Zhitao's ears perked up at those words. "What handsome guy?"

She looked around and spotted the top student and school heartthrob at the classroom door. "It's Lu Mingqian."

"Seeing him first thing in the morning is so refreshing." Zhu Zhitao clasped her hands over her heart.

"...You'd get the same effect from a little medicated balm," Shen Baili said.

"What does he want with me?"
