Background and History

Liuzheng married Duan Xing at the height of her piano career. He accompanied her on performances abroad, and she later completed a world tour 35 36. After years of unsuccessful attempts to conceive, including multiple rounds of IVF, she agreed to adopt a child with him 36.

At a welfare home, Liuzheng met a boy called Little Sheng. She liked him but resisted choosing him immediately 47. After hearing Shen Baili’s thoughts about Duan’s affair and adoption scheme, she asked her nephew Xie Zhiyu to investigate 45 50. The investigation confirmed that Little Sheng was Duan’s son with Qiao Yun and uncovered his concealed assets and financial misconduct 52. Liuzheng confronted Duan, rejected his pleas, and divorced him. She returned to the Xie residence rather than remain in their former apartment 56 57 60.

Liuzheng continued her music career after the divorce. She began the piano album she had long wanted to make; it became a major success. She subsequently moved to an international orchestra and received an exceptional appointment as an associate professor at Haicheng Conservatory of Music 218 239.

Original story

In the original story remembered by Shen Baili, Liuzheng never discovered that Little Sheng was Duan’s son before adopting him. She injured her hand protecting the boy in a car accident and could no longer perform demanding piano pieces. She later taught at Duan’s arts training center. By the time she learned of his betrayal, he had moved their assets and used her family to prevent her from leaving him 65.

Liuzheng has a cool, striking appearance and clear, bright eyes that resemble her brother Xie Chengyue’s 35 40.

Personality

Liuzheng is warm once she grows close to someone, though she initially keeps some distance. Her trust in Duan makes his betrayal painful, but she insists on evidence and acts decisively once she has it 50 52 56. She later chooses to focus on her family and piano rather than let hatred govern her life 67.

She is generous without being easily swayed. Liuzheng gives Shen Wan an extravagant gift after a shopping trip, but firmly challenges Zheng Nuan when the latter disparages Shen Wan and Baili 42 69. After her divorce, she becomes more outspoken about enjoying life and wanting Baili to experience the world for herself 257 263.
