Background / History

Early Life and Papal Succession

Bibi Dong was raised and trained by Qian Xunji, becoming his disciple and Spirit Hall’s Holy Maiden. Spirit Hall devoted substantial resources to nurturing her exceptional talent. She also survived Slaughter City, gaining combat experience that the Worship Hall elders considered significant 2 11 13 17.

Qian Xunji committed a grave wrong against her, which Qian Daoliu concealed to protect the family’s reputation. Bibi Dong later killed Qian Xunji, although Spirit Hall publicly attributed his death to injuries inflicted by Tang Hao. Qian Daoliu knew what she had endured and refrained from killing her; Qian Renxue’s existence and Bibi Dong’s mysterious divine power further influenced his decision 2 9 15.

After Qian Xunji’s death, Qian Daoliu supported Bibi Dong’s appointment as Pope. He described it as a temporary arrangement intended to stabilize Spirit Hall while Qian Renxue was too young to rule and Qian Juechen remained absent. Her position as Holy Maiden supplied a legitimate claim, while her motherhood was meant to reassure Renxue 7.

Confrontation with Qian Juechen

Qian Juechen’s return threatened Bibi Dong’s control of Spirit Hall. His resemblance to Qian Xunji revived memories she had tried to bury, but she initially dismissed him as too young to challenge her strength. His four black and four red Soul Rings forced her to recognize that he possessed a divine inheritance 4 5.

After obtaining Qian Daoliu’s permission to change Spirit Hall’s arrangements, Juechen imposed a lockdown that bypassed the Papal Palace. He then split its dome and publicly accused Bibi Dong. She answered by presenting his attack as an assault on Spirit Hall itself, but the Angel Legion refused her supporters’ demands to arrest him. His spatially redirected sword attack killed the Red Cardinals defending her authority 9 10 11.

Their ensuing battle exposed the limits of her superior Soul Power and Twin Martial Souls. She survived his Yin-Yang Flame-Ice Slash by sacrificing a Spider Empress Clone, but suffered injuries despite her defensive armor. A subsequent rain of North Wind Swords drove her to force out Rakshasa Divine Power, risking her unfinished path to godhood 12 13 14.

As that power dwindled, Bibi Dong invoked her status as Qian Renxue’s mother, insisting that Qian Daoliu would prevent her execution. Juechen instead fused four elemental swords into the Four-Element Divine Light Sword. Unable to evade its descending strike, she was engulfed by its power; Qian Daoliu could not save her and turned to containing the blast threatening Spirit City 15 16 17.

Death and Rakshasa Service

The search of the Papal Palace ruins uncovered five of Bibi Dong’s Soul Bones but no body. Qian Daoliu awarded the bones and papal position to Juechen. Spirit Hall subsequently announced her departure from office, while Qian Daoliu privately told Renxue that her mother had withdrawn to cultivate 17 18 22 31.

Bibi Dong’s missing Torso Soul Bone had become the refuge of her last soul fragment. The Rakshasa Divine Thought within her awakened at death and preserved it. The Rakshasa God refused to revive her or let her inherit the Divine Position, and declined to confront Juechen’s patrons—the seven closely allied Elemental Gods—over her defeat 21 22.

Instead, Bibi Dong accepted a contract making her the Rakshasa Temple’s High Priest. She must cultivate according to the god’s instructions and help a replacement successor complete the Divine Trial. Only after that successor succeeds will she receive power to attempt revenge; afterward, regardless of the outcome, her power and soul must nourish the Rakshasa Scythe 22.

Appearance

  • Human appearance: Described as breathtakingly beautiful; Ling Yuan later recalls that her beauty could once have been considered unrivaled across the continent 4 28.
  • Papal regalia: Wears the Pope’s crown and carries the Pope’s Scepter 4.
  • Martial Soul armor: A purple-black, insect-shell-like covering protects her body in combat 13.
  • Rakshasa-empowered form: Develops glowing red eyes, protruding spider legs, and purple-black spider eyes across her body as her transformation becomes increasingly monstrous 14.
  • After death: Appears as a faint, haggard figure within a deep-purple orb containing her surviving soul fragment 21.

Personality

Bibi Dong combines pride in her talent with a calculated understanding of political authority. When challenged publicly, she deliberately suppresses her anger and invokes the Pope’s office to claim the moral high ground. Her confidence rests on her title, Twin Martial Souls, superior cultivation, and divine inheritance 11.

Her composure deteriorates when confronted with Qian Juechen’s resemblance to his father and the possibility of defeat. Unresolved humiliation and resentment drive her desire to destroy Spirit Hall, achieve godhood, and make amends to Xiao Gang. In desperation, she treats her motherhood as leverage over Qian Daoliu rather than relying solely on combat strength 4 14 15.

Revenge remains her overriding motive after death. Although she recognizes that the Rakshasa God intends to exploit her, she accepts a contract that will ultimately consume her soul because it offers one remaining chance to settle her grievances 21 22.

Abilities & Skills

Twin Martial Souls

Bibi Dong possesses the Death Spider Emperor and Soul-Eating Spider Emperor, switching between them during battle 12.

  • Manifests eight spider legs as close-combat weapons 12.
  • Uses spider silk and venom throughout the battlefield 12.
  • Repositions through previously placed webs and anchors herself to resist knockback 12.
  • Holds greater Soul Power reserves than the eight-ring Qian Juechen, making a prolonged fight potentially favorable to her 13.

Eternal Creation

The Soul-Eating Spider Emperor’s sixth soul skill is identified as her strongest single-target soul skill 12.

  • Ignores physical defenses and inflicts continuous damage.
  • Used to interrupt Juechen while he charges a fusion attack.
  • Fails to secure the initiative when his Void Sword disrupts her attack and forces her onto the defensive 12.

Spider Empress Clone

The Death Spider Emperor’s eighth soul skill produces a figure almost identical to Bibi Dong 12 13.

  • Interposes the clone between herself and an incoming attack.
  • Creates an opening for retreat.
  • Costs substantial Soul Power; Juechen’s Flame-Ice Slash destroys the clone and still injures her through its shockwave 13.

Defensive Armor

Her fourth soul skill covers her body in purple-black armor resembling an insect’s shell 13.

  • Reinforces her protection while retreating behind the Spider Empress Clone 13.
  • Does not withstand Juechen’s strongest attacks intact: the Flame-Ice Slash cracks it, and his North Wind Sword formation shreds it 13 14.
  • Also combines soul skills into a defense resembling Soul Bone Armor 17.

Rakshasa Divine Power

Before completing her Divine Trial, Bibi Dong can forcibly release a portion of the Rakshasa God’s power 14.

  • Shatters surrounding North Wind Swords and cracks the Holy Light Isolation Formation 14.
  • Temporarily manifests the phantom of part of the Rakshasa Scythe 14.
  • Briefly gains the upper hand against Juechen, but cannot seriously injure him before the power nears exhaustion 15.
  • Prematurely consumes trial-accumulated power; extended use can damage her future progress toward godhood 14.
  • Is suppressed by the light component of Juechen’s final fusion sword 16.

High Priest Authority

Her posthumous contract grants conditional power and authority rather than restoring her former position as a divine successor 22.

  • Must guide and protect the Rakshasa God’s replacement successor.
  • May draw on the granted power only when that successor is in danger.
  • May return to the world as High Priest or remain beside the successor.
  • Must follow a prescribed cultivation method and eventually sacrifice herself to the Rakshasa Scythe 22.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Pope’s Crown and Scepter — Symbols of her former papal office; she raises the scepter while publicly challenging Juechen’s actions 4 11.
  • God-given Torso Soul Bone — A Rakshasa Divine Trial reward closely connected to divine power. Preserves her surviving soul fragment after her death 17 21.
  • Five recovered Soul Bones — Claimed by Qian Juechen as spoils after her defeat 17 18:
    • Left and Right Arm Bones: Both hundred-thousand-year bones from the Death Spider Emperor, obtained alongside its ninth Soul Ring 17.
    • Soft Bone Rabbit Leg Bone: A hundred-thousand-year bone with a faint pink sheen 17.
    • Mental Immunity Head Soul Bone: Over fifty thousand years old 17.
    • Additional Leg Soul Bone: Also over fifty thousand years old 17.

Relationships

  • Qian Xunji — Former teacher and the man who raised her. His wrongdoing against her was concealed by Qian Daoliu; she later killed him and openly admitted doing so during her battle with his son 2 9 15.
  • Qian Renxue — Daughter. Her importance to the Qian family influences Bibi Dong’s appointment and protection. Renxue’s undercover work is partly motivated by a desire to prove herself to her mother 7 15 22.
  • Qian Daoliu — Supported her papal appointment and spared her partly because of Renxue. Eventually authorizes Juechen to overturn Spirit Hall’s arrangements, though he remains conflicted over her death 7 9 16 17.
  • Qian Juechen — Enemy, killer, and papal successor; Qian Xunji’s son, but not Bibi Dong’s child. His resemblance to his father intensifies her hostility toward him 4 15 18.
  • Rakshasa God — Former divine patron and current master. Preserves her soul fragment, rejects her as a successor, and binds her to service through a sacrificial contract 21 22.
  • Yu Xiaogang — Former romantic connection. Making amends to Xiao Gang remains among her unfinished ambitions 14 33.
  • Yue Guan and Gui Mei — Trusted aides during her papacy. Their loyalty belongs to the papal office, and they transfer allegiance to Juechen after her removal 23 28.
  • Yu Luomian — Secret political contact. Their covert cooperation ends with her unexplained disappearance 33.
