Background and Succession

Feng Qingyao of the Wind Sword Sect married Pope Qian Xunji and died giving birth to Qian Juechen. Juechen survived, but his martial soul developed from the Wind Sword lineage rather than the Qian family’s inherited Six-Winged Angel. Qian Xunji and Qian Daoliu therefore ruled him out as a successor to the papacy 1 7.

Juechen left Spirit Hall as a child and remained away for nearly twenty years. During his absence, Xunji died and Qian Renxue proved to have inherited the Angel Spirit. Because Renxue was too young to rule and Juechen could not be reached, Qian Daoliu supported her mother, then-Holy Maiden Bibi Dong, as Pope to stabilize Spirit Hall 2 7.

Juechen returned to challenge those decisions. He questioned the exclusion of a son without the Angel Spirit when Bibi Dong had been permitted to rule without it, criticized Renxue’s secret mission as a risk to a potential Angel God successor, and confronted Qian Daoliu over the concealed truth of Xunji’s death 7 8. After Juechen killed Bibi Dong, Qian Daoliu appointed him Pope and placed the Elder Hall, Worship Hall, and all Spirit Hall forces under his authority 17 18.

Angel Legacy

• The Qian family has guarded the Angel God’s Divine Position for generations. Its inherited martial soul is the Six-Winged Angel 5 8.
• Renxue’s Six-Winged Angel and innate Soul Power of level twenty make her, in Qian Daoliu’s view, a likely inheritor of the Angel God’s position 5 7.
• Juechen possesses a different martial soul, the Elemental Sword Casket, and has received a separate divine inheritance. Qian Daoliu hopes both siblings may attain divine positions 1 5.

Relationships

• Wind Sword Sect — Allied with Spirit Hall through Feng Qingyao’s marriage to Qian Xunji. Her brother Feng Bailong is Juechen’s uncle and swordsmanship teacher 1.
• Worship Hall priests — Longtime supporters of Qian Daoliu who favor Juechen’s return to the family’s leadership; they support his rise to Pope 3 13 23.
• Bibi Dong — Renxue’s mother and Xunji’s successor as Pope. Her rule displaces the Qian family’s influence and ends when Juechen defeats her 2 7 18.
