Baniga

At this moment, Feng Ling had arrived across the Atlantic, in the Western Hemisphere's Baniga Nation.

Composed of over a thousand islands, Baniga Nation was the largest island nation in the Western Hemisphere. Most of its territory had a tropical savanna climate and abundant wildlife resources.

Before the Xenomorph invasion, its natural scenery had continuously drawn travelers from around the world. Now, it had become a sanctuary coveted by neighboring countries—because Baniga was entirely free of contamination.

For some reason, contamination from Mazes stopped spreading as soon as it came into contact with water, as though blocked by an invisible wall. Seawater had the best isolating effect, followed by rivers, while small streams and creeks were ineffective.

Some theological researchers believed this was because water possessed purifying power. In certain Western folk legends, rivers were often endowed with sacred or cleansing qualities, and rushing rivers in particular were regarded as natural barriers. A typical example was that vampires could not cross running water.

However, this explanation had not been accepted by the scientific community.

Sitting on Kite's back, Feng Ling drifted over one of Baniga Nation's islands. She saw tens of thousands of refugees gathered below, while ships continued arriving in the distance. The narrow coastline was nearly overwhelmed.

The sunlight cast the giant creature's shadow over the ground. Tiny humans shouted below, their chaotic voices carried by the wind into Feng Ling's ears, so faint that they were almost inaudible.

Feng Ling had no intention of causing a disturbance. She found an uninhabited island so that Kite, who had flown continuously for four days, could rest.

She and Ye Zheng needed rest too. They had had no chance to set foot on the ground during those four days, and their bones were nearly stiff.
