Power Progression

Background and History

Lu Xuan arrived on the Douluo Continent at age six with memories of his previous life. A system gift pack remade his body and granted him innate full soul power, authorization for twin martial souls, mastery of spoken and written languages, and Huang Yaoshi’s template. The template gave him Peach Blossom Island’s knowledge and techniques, including the complete Nine Yin Manual. His initial martial souls were a Jade Flute and his own body, a rare Body Martial Soul 1.

Dugu Yan and Dugu Xin found him collapsed by the roadside and brought him to Ye Renxin for treatment. With no home or money, Lu Xuan persuaded Ye Renxin to take him in as a disciple. He learned the clinic’s medicinal ingredients within three days and could write simple prescriptions within a month 1 2.

When Ye Renxin revealed that the Nine Heart Begonia’s inheritance rule appeared to require his death before Ye Lingling could awaken it, Lu Xuan urged him to investigate alternatives. Their search for poisonous plants brought them to Dugu Bo’s Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, where Lu Xuan obtained the bamboo shoot that evolved his flute martial soul 5 7 9.

Lu Xuan subsequently spent two years cultivating and researching herbs at the well. He refined tailored Nine-Flower Jade Dew Pills for himself, Ye Lingling, and Dugu Yan, as well as pills for members of the Ye and Dugu households 23 27.

After returning to the well for further training, he investigated an Azure Jade Bird Ornament and the interaction between Ye Lingling’s martial soul and a living Nine Heart Begonia. He discovered that his language reward allowed him to understand Soul Beasts, then used Soul Bone essence to activate the ornament. Its destruction revealed an inner core and the hundred-thousand-year External Soul Bone that granted him spiritual storage and spatial travel 53 55 61 62.

His conflict with the Clear Sky Sect became personal after its members’ actions cost Zhao Yan an arm. When Xue Haicang also sent a subordinate after him and Dugu Yan, Lu Xuan killed the pursuer and planted a message blaming the Clear Sky Sect. The resulting retaliation destroyed the Moonlight Pavilion. Lu Xuan later placed its surviving owner, Tang Yuehua, under his control and used her in his campaign against Tang Hao 64 65 71 79 85.

After helping Dugu Bo and Zhao Yan kill Tang Hao, Lu Xuan investigated the Blue Silver Emperor’s surviving essence and the location of her hundred-thousand-year Soul Bone. He spared Tang San out of concern that killing or directly controlling him might alert the Asura God, instead arranging for Tang Yuehua to oversee his upbringing. Through a dream illusion, Lu Xuan also obtained and memorized the complete Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record 85 86 87.

At ten, Lu Xuan reached level 50 and took his Nine-Flower Jade Dew Pill under Ye Renxin’s protection. Its effects transformed both martial souls and raised his existing rings to approximately fifty thousand years. He subsequently obtained an eighty-thousand-year fifth ring and reached level 60 99 100 103 110.

Appearance

Cultivation developed Lu Xuan’s physique well beyond his actual age, allowing him and his companions to pass for twelve or thirteen during their outings. A later account describes the eight-year-old Lu Xuan being mistaken for an eleven- or twelve-year-old because of his height and physical development. He is also described as handsome 31 43 57.

• His evolved flute martial soul is jet-black, with a faint, mysterious sheen 9.
• After gaining his External Soul Bone, his left eye can show subdued rose-colored dragon patterns 25.
• Following his pill-induced transformation, his Black Jade Divine Flute is described as ancient and unadorned, and all four of his then-existing soul rings appear ink-black 103.

Personality

Lu Xuan plans his cultivation carefully, choosing rings for their long-term compatibility rather than taking an immediate but weaker option. He delayed his second ring until he could withstand a Rainbow Dragon and trained his body before attempting the nearly ten-thousand-year Rouge Dragon ring 21 24 25.

He is grateful to the people who rescued and taught him, and shares medicines, resources, and techniques with those he trusts. Around Ye Lingling and Dugu Yan, he is also playful, trading pranks with them during their outings 3 27 32 38. In combat he stays controlled, but he killed the three thugs who attacked his companions after judging that they had preyed on ordinary people 35 36.

His trust develops gradually. Although he initially guarded his inherited knowledge, two years of living alongside the Ye and Dugu families convinced him to share more of his techniques. He continues to conceal his transmigration, presenting his martial arts as family-inherited Self-Created Soul Skills 37 53.

Against enemies, Lu Xuan is calculating and willing to use deception, coercion, and indirect retaliation. He framed the Clear Sky Sect for killing Xue Haicang’s subordinate and later manipulated Tang Yuehua’s memories and obedience. His plan for Tang San was similarly pragmatic: preserve his life, exploit his future opportunities, and potentially direct his revenge toward enemies chosen by Lu Xuan 64 71 79 87.

Despite knowing about Qian Renxue’s infiltration of the Heaven Dou Empire, he chose not to support or obstruct her. His stated priority was to avoid unnecessary conflict with Spirit Hall unless it provoked him 92.

Abilities and Skills

Twin Martial Souls and Huang Yaoshi Inheritance

Lu Xuan’s first martial soul evolved from the Jade Flute into the Divine Black Jade Bamboo Flute. His second martial soul is his own body, which he had not revealed publicly by the time he planned his second ring 1 9 20 21.

• Huang Yaoshi’s inheritance provides martial arts, internal cultivation, medicine, poison knowledge, formations, and other disciplines; it also includes the complete Nine Yin Manual 1.
• He uses the Nine Yin Manual to cultivate and strengthen his foundation. In combat, its penetrating force can break through defensive Soul Power 2 36.
• His system gift pack also granted mastery of spoken and written languages. He later discovered that this reward extends to understanding Soul Beasts, including those unable to speak human language 1 55 56.
• After taking the Nine-Flower Jade Dew Pill, his Body Martial Soul completed a Silver Second Awakening, and its origin was further tempered. By his subsequent demonstration to Ye Renxin, his twin martial souls had been revealed to his master 100 103.
• The same transformation evolved his flute into the Black Jade Divine Flute. Ye Renxin suspected during the transformation that the flute had reached god-tier status 100 103.

Flute Soul Skills

The following initial effects were demonstrated before the Nine-Flower Jade Dew Pill raised all four of Lu Xuan’s existing rings to approximately fifty thousand years. After that transformation, their power reached the fifty-thousand-year level 103 104.

• First skill — Jade Flute Triple Melody / Fivefold Melody: Initially granted listeners attack, defense, and speed boosts equal to 20% of Lu Xuan’s attributes while he played; the effects disappeared within five minutes after he stopped. After his flute evolved, Jade Flute Fivefold Melody added Soul Power and mental-strength boosts, raised each boost to 25%, and doubled the benefits applied to Lu Xuan himself 5 10.
• Second skill — Rainbow Dragon Listening Melody: Stacks with his first skill. Used together, the melodies boost allies’ attributes by 50% and Lu Xuan’s by 100%; the boost lasts twenty minutes, then fades completely after another half hour. Activating both also tempers his body once per day, improving the age of ring he can withstand 24.
• Third skill — Rouge Silent Dragon Roar: Uses flute-borne annihilation power to weaken buffs and dissolve attacks. In a test, it removed half of Dugu Xin’s Strength Amplification and completely dispelled his poison-based Jade Phosphorus Breath 26.
• Fourth skill — Peach-Bamboo Illusory Thought: Obtained from the Peach-Rhyme Immortal Bamboo’s sacrifice. Flute music carries mental threads resembling peach petals and bamboo shadows into a target’s consciousness, weaving illusions that slow movement and obstruct Soul Skill activation. It works on humans and Soul Beasts whose mental power does not exceed his own, or who do not actively resist 74.
• Large-scale illusion application: He extended his fourth skill over all of Holy Soul Village and induced Tang San to dream of returning to the Tang Sect. He has also used it to implant constructed experiences in Tang Yuehua’s consciousness and communicate fabricated scenes to the Blue Silver Emperor’s faint surviving awareness 79 85 87.
• Support against stronger opponents: While cooperating with Bibi Dong, he used the Black Jade Divine Flute to raise all her attributes by an amount equal to 50% of his own 106.

Annihilation Crystal Eye

The Rouge Dragon ring granted Lu Xuan an ocular External Soul Bone in his left eye 25 26.

• Increases his mental strength by 50% and lets him choose which targets his soul skills affect 26.
• Grants detailed perception of Soul Power, plants, and energy circulating within other people 25.
• Releases Annihilation Light, a near-instant beam that destroyed a distant boulder in a demonstration but consumes substantial Soul Power. At its initial demonstration, Lu Xuan compared its destructive power to an assault-type Soul King’s all-out strike 26.

Azure Jade Whirlwind Brain Core Bone

Lu Xuan obtained this hundred-thousand-year, spiritual- and spatial-attribute External Soul Bone after feeding Soul Bone essence into the Azure Jade Bird Ornament. His existing Azure Jade Bird ring helped make its absorption exceptionally gentle 61 62.

• Spiritual enhancement: Greatly expands and purifies his spiritual power, sharpens his senses, and accelerates his thinking. After absorption, his spiritual field could encompass the entire Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well and perceive the conditions and emotions of its plants 62.
• Spiritual protection: Grants natural immunity to spiritual attacks, deceptive illusions, and external spiritual probing 62.
• Spiritual Space: Constructs an extradimensional storage space that can contain objects and living creatures. Initially approximately room-sized, it grows with his spiritual power. He uses it to transport Ye Lingling, Dugu Yan, and others 62 63 82.
• Azure Jade Spatial Escape: Allows instantaneous spatial travel to locations bearing his spiritual marks. He can place Azure Jade Bird-shaped marks on portable objects such as Gold Soul Coins, as well as on creatures and fixed locations 62 63 64.
• Combat and mobility: He used marked streets to ambush a Soul Emperor before the man could release his martial soul, and later used spatial travel to locate and rejoin allies during dangerous operations 64 85 113.

Illusory Peach-Bamboo Right-Eye Soul Bone

The Peach-Rhyme Immortal Bamboo’s sacrifice granted Lu Xuan a third External Soul Bone, situated in his right eye. It greatly strengthened his mental power and provided Peach-Bamboo God Imprisonment 74.

• Peach-Bamboo God Imprisonment: Imprisons a target’s independent will and makes them obey Lu Xuan’s commands. It can affect humans and Soul Beasts 74.
• There is no fixed limit on the number of controlled targets, but their combined mental power cannot exceed one-tenth of Lu Xuan’s own 74.
• At the time he obtained it, his mental power was at the high-ranking Soul Douluo level. He estimated that the skill could then control a Soul Sage or a thirty- to forty-thousand-year Soul Beast, rather than stronger beings 74.
• He combined this skill with Peach-Bamboo Illusory Thought to subjugate Tang Yuehua 79.

Divine Flute Domain

The evolution of the Black Jade Divine Flute produced an innate domain. Its effects focus on range and endurance rather than directly increasing attack power or suppressing opponents 103.

• Increases the coverage radius of all his Soul Skills by 100% 103.
• Reduces their Soul Power consumption by 50% 103.
• Doubles his own Soul Power recovery speed 103.
• Makes sustained combat more practical despite the heavy expenditure associated with his upgraded fifty-thousand-year Soul Skills 104.

Martial Arts and Medicine

• Lu Xuan wields his flute as a weapon through Jade Flute Swordplay, using precise strikes to subdue opponents, and uses Sky-Crossing Shift to evade attacks. He has also demonstrated Divine Finger Flick, Air-Splitting Palm, and the Falling Petal Divine Sword against the Hooligan Trio 35 36.
• He finished the Hooligan Trio with the Fortress-Crushing Divine Claw, Heart-Shattering Palm, and Great Demon-Subduing Fist. During his demonstration against Bu Le, he deliberately restricted individual techniques to the power a Soul Grandmaster could unleash 36.
• Drawing on Huang Yaoshi’s knowledge and Ye Renxin’s teaching, he studies Immortal Herb combinations and refines pills and practical medicines. Dugu Xin helped test his experimental pills, whose early effects were unpredictable 12 23 46.
• His practical medicines include treatments for injuries, Soul Power restoration, aura concealment, and temporary increases in strength 46.
• He has taught body-tempering techniques to Ye Lingling and Dugu Yan and agreed to share more of his martial arts with trusted members of their families. By their later training at the well, both girls were practicing the Muscle-Tendon Changing and Marrow-Cleansing Chapter alongside Nine Yin internal cultivation 24 37 38 53 54.
• His daily flute-playing body-tempering method initially increased his soul-ring tolerance by approximately ten years per effective use, providing a cumulative means of improving his physique after Whale Rubber’s benefits became insufficient 24.
• He combines medical knowledge with martial-soul research, devising Dugu Yan’s Immortal Herb and soul-ring pairing and later regulating her poison-consumption training to accelerate cultivation safely 19 97.
• He memorized the complete Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record by observing Tang San reproduce it inside an induced dream 87.

Pill-Induced Physical and Spiritual Enhancement

Lu Xuan delayed taking his tailored Nine-Flower Jade Dew Pill until he had exhausted the Divine Black Jade Bamboo’s residual medicinal power, avoiding the risk of the two medicines clashing. He then asked Ye Renxin to supervise its consumption 99.

The pill strengthened his body, Soul Power reserves, and spiritual power while transforming his martial souls. His spiritual power entered the Titled Douluo tier. Although his body could initially withstand a sixty-thousand-year ring during the transformation, he subsequently assessed his completed improvement as sufficient for a seventy- or eighty-thousand-year ring. All four of his existing flute rings also rose to approximately fifty thousand years 100 103.

Relationships

• Ye Renxin — His medical master and guardian, whose generosity earned Lu Xuan’s loyalty. Lu Xuan sought ways to avert the Nine Heart Begonia inheritance crisis and later gave him pills for the family. He trusted Ye Renxin to guard him while he consumed his Nine-Flower Jade Dew Pill and subsequently demonstrated his transformed martial souls and domain to him 2 3 5 27 99 100 103.
• Ye Lingling — Ye Renxin’s granddaughter and Lu Xuan’s close childhood companion. He taught her a body-tempering method; she later called him her future husband. Dugu Xin eventually explicitly introduced her as Lu Xuan’s fiancée. Lu Xuan also investigated how a living Nine Heart Begonia could improve her cultivation and strengthen her martial soul 2 24 36 53 55 79.
• Dugu Yan — Helped rescue Lu Xuan and became a close, sometimes teasing companion. He helped plan a martial-soul development path around her abilities and preferences. She was later explicitly identified as his fiancée, and he continued overseeing her cultivation and seeking suitable resources for her, including the Death Spider Emperor’s poison-attribute Soul Bones 1 14 32 79 97 106.
• Dugu Xin — Helped bring Lu Xuan to safety, then assisted his medicinal research by testing experimental pills. He supported the prospect of Lu Xuan becoming the Dugu family’s son-in-law and later openly introduced him as Dugu Yan’s fiancé 6 11 23 79.
• Dugu Bo — Initially treated Lu Xuan cautiously at his herb garden, but came to value his advice and trust him as the two households grew close. Lu Xuan later called him Grandpa Dugu, worked with him against Tang Hao, and accompanied him in resource negotiations with the Heaven Dou imperial family 7 14 27 37 75 85 92.
• Zhao Yan — Escorted Lu Xuan to obtain his first ring and later supplied rare soul-beast options for his second. Lu Xuan refers to him as Uncle Zhao. After Zhao Yan lost an arm, Lu Xuan gave him the Blazing Ash Left Arm Bone to aid its restoration and later offered him the Azure Jade Bird’s Inner Core as a possible route to a hundred-thousand-year ring 3 4 21 63 70.
• Ye Qingxian — A member of the Ye household whom Lu Xuan sought to help through his pill research; he also agreed to share his techniques with her 10 30 38.
• Tang Yuehua — An enemy associated with the Clear Sky Sect and owner of the Moonlight Pavilion. Lu Xuan used illusions and Peach-Bamboo God Imprisonment to make her obedient, interrogated her about Tang Hao, and later ordered her to remain in Holy Soul Village to care for Tang San 79 85 87.
• Tang Hao — An enemy whom Lu Xuan helped Dugu Bo and Zhao Yan kill. Lu Xuan used Tang Yuehua to direct him toward his wife’s grave and afterward investigated the resources hidden there 85.
• Tang San — A potential future threat and source of opportunities. Lu Xuan avoided killing or directly enslaving him for fear of attracting the Asura God’s attention, instead planning to manipulate his upbringing and future revenge. He obtained the Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record through Tang San’s induced dream 86 87.
• Xue Haicang — The Heaven Dou Empire’s third prince, whose attempt to seize Dugu Yan made him Lu Xuan’s enemy. Lu Xuan killed his pursuing subordinate and framed the Clear Sky Sect, provoking retaliation against the Moonlight Pavilion 64 65 71.
• Xue Ye — Traded access to his treasury for an Eight-Rank Purple Zoysia supplied by Lu Xuan and Dugu Bo. Lu Xuan took a deposit and secretly left a sensing mark in the treasury 91 92.
• Bibi Dong — A temporary collaborator in hunting the hundred-thousand-year Death Spider Emperor. Lu Xuan offered her its ring in exchange for its Soul Bones and strengthened her with his flute after she accepted 106.
• Ah Rou — Encountered while she supported another hundred-thousand-year Soft Bone Rabbit against Zhao Yan. Lu Xuan joined the battle and rejected her offer to help locate a different ring, demanding the rings of both rabbits 113.

• Xue Haicang and the Moonlight Pavilion: After defeating a pursuer sent by the third prince, he plants evidence implicating the Clear Sky Sect. Xue Haicang’s retaliation devastates the Moonlight Pavilion, and Lu Xuan later takes control of Tang Yuehua 64 65 71 79.
• Peach-Rhyme Immortal Bamboo sacrifice: He obtains his fourth ring, reaches level 47, and gains illusion and will-imprisonment abilities together with a right-eye External Soul Bone 74.

• Ten-year-old breakthrough: He reaches level 50, consumes his tailored Nine-Flower Jade Dew Pill, transforms both martial souls, upgrades his first four rings, and awakens the Divine Flute Domain. An eighty-thousand-year fifth ring subsequently raises him to level 60 99 100 103 104 110.
• Death Spider Emperor cooperation: He negotiates with Bibi Dong for the poison-attribute Soul Bones of a hundred-thousand-year Death Spider Emperor while conceding its ring to her 106.
