Background and History

Tang San is the son of Tang Hao and Ah Yin, a Hundred-Thousand-Year Blue Silver Emperor who took human form. He studies under Yu Xiaogang at Nuoding Academy. At Lu Ming’s Martial Soul awakening, Tang San notices the newcomer; Yu Xiaogang subsequently arranges a fight between them, which ends when the newly awakened Lu Ming knocks Tang San unconscious 1 2 24.

Tang Hao later returns blind and badly injured. He takes Tang San to the cave where he had kept Ah Yin’s Blue Silver Grass form, but finds that both she and a hidden Soul Bone are gone. Tang San commits himself to training and revenge. When he attacks Lu Ming in Dorm Seven, his spear, restraints, and hidden weapons fail to secure a victory; Lu Ming pins him to a wall 24 25.

Xiao Wu’s departure compounds Tang San’s losses. She returns his Silent Sleeve Arrow and money, tells him their relationship is over, and knocks him away when he tries to stop her. Tang San later reaches the Soul Elder realm and develops a powerful spear throw, but Lu Ming defeats him again during a confrontation with Tang Hao. Lu Ming kills Tang Hao and spares Tang San, saying he wants Xiao Wu to kill him instead 27 47 48 49.

Tang Yuehua brings Tang San into the Clear Sky Sect’s effort to avenge his father. His abilities impress its elders, though Tang Xiao must stop him from attacking the Seventh Elder over insults to his parents. When Lu Ming and Xiao Xiao assault the sect, Xiao Xiao captures Tang San and Lu Ming prepares to kill him; his great-grandfather Tang Chen arrives and carries him to safety 50 52 53.

Appearance

Tang San’s Blue Silver Grass undergoes a second awakening while he is young. He subsequently becomes strikingly handsome and is described as the best-looking boy in Notting City 25.

• His eyes turn purple when he uses the Purple Demon Eyes 47.
• He can manifest the Eight Spider Lances, an External Soul Bone 50.

Personality

Tang San is devoted to his father and remains loyal to Yu Xiaogang even after his teacher can offer him little practical help. He is deeply hurt when Tang Hao briefly suspects him of stealing Ah Yin’s Soul Bone, but readily reconciles with him 24 27. His attachment to Xiao Wu is similarly intense; he initially mistakes her return for a reconciliation and is devastated when she rejects him 27.

His determination hardens into a desire for revenge after Tang Hao’s injuries and death. That anger drives his training, but it also leads him to attack Lu Ming despite earlier defeats and to turn on a Clear Sky Sect elder while demonstrating his skill 25 48 50.

• Tang Hao — Father. Tang San supports him through blindness and injury, promises to recover Ah Yin’s Soul Bone, and seeks revenge after his death 24 48 49 50.
• Ah Yin — Mother and a Blue Silver Emperor. Tang San learns of her identity when Tang Hao takes him to her former hiding place 24.
• Yu Xiaogang — Teacher. Tang San defends his theories and continues to regard him as his teacher after Yu becomes severely injured 2 27.
• Xiao Wu — Formerly close schoolmate and companion. Tang San hopes she will remain in his life, but she explicitly severs their relationship 10 25 27.
• Lu Ming — Rival and eventual target of revenge. Lu Ming repeatedly defeats him, kills Tang Hao, and later attempts to kill Tang San at the Clear Sky Sect 2 25 48 49 52.
• Tang Yuehua — Aunt. She comforts Tang San after Tang Hao’s death and pledges to help avenge him 50.
• Tang Xiao — Uncle. He intervenes when Tang San attacks the Seventh Elder 50.
