"Crush them!"
"Crush them!"
"Crush them!"
A hundred thousand soldiers roared as one, their voices shaking the land.
Rumble!
Squadrons of fighter jets screamed into the sky and gathered above the Wolf Country Capital.
Beacon Fire flared across the Northern Frontier, one after another, forming a winding dragon of flame.
From the Wolf Country Capital all the way to Jiangcheng!
"Move out!"
Zhao Mengsheng gave the order.
Before long, this unprecedented mobilization had alarmed every quarter.
Dragon Kingdom General Staff Headquarters.
"What's going on? Why is Beacon Fire spreading from the Northern Frontier all the way to Jiangbei?"
A middle-aged general shot to his feet.
He stared in horror at the unbroken trail of red dots on the radar.
"Report!"
An intelligence officer rushed in. "God of War Shanhe is leading a hundred thousand soldiers straight to Jiangcheng aboard supersonic jets!"
"What?"
The middle-aged general's expression changed drastically.
"He just conquered Wolf Country. Why isn't he holding the Northern Frontier? Why is he taking so many men south?"
"Could the enemy's remaining forces be striking back?"
"But that's impossible! The Wolf Country Capital has fallen. The remnants can't put up a fight!"
The intelligence officer hurriedly said, "General, it seems God of War Shanhe isn't going to fight. He's going to... rescue someone?"
And it wasn't just General Staff Headquarters.
The leaders of the other Military Regions and departments could no longer sit still.
A mobilization on this scale was unheard of!
"Is Wolf Country making another move?"
"Has something terrible happened in Jiangbei Province?"
"What is Zhao Shanhe trying to do? Has he lost his mind?"
Questions and speculation broke out everywhere.
The entire Dragon Kingdom leadership was on edge.
At that moment, Zhao Mengsheng sat aboard the latest Supersonic Fighter Jet.
His eyes were shut tight. Images of Yue Changlong kept flashing through his mind...
Along with Yue Xiaofei's heart-rending cry for help moments ago!
"War God!"
His Deputy General approached with an encrypted phone, his face grave. "A call from Jade Spring Mountain!"
Zhao Mengsheng took the phone. "It's me."
"Zhao Shanhe! Stop!"
An authoritative, furious voice came from the other end.
"I order you to land immediately with all your men! Do you have any idea how much turmoil this will cause?"
Zhao Mengsheng's voice was firm. He did not yield an inch. "Sir, it doesn't matter who orders me back today. I have to go to Jiangcheng!"
"Have you gone mad?"
The man rebuked him. "You've just won a monumental victory, and you're about to be made a marshal. Is disobeying an order now worth it?"
"It is!"
Zhao Mengsheng's answer was absolute.
"My old company commander is my benefactor, my brother, my comrade-in-arms!"
"His son is in danger. I can't stand by and do nothing!"
His Deputy General stamped his feet in distress, tugged at Zhao Mengsheng's arm, and urged him in a low voice:
"General, please think this through!"
"You can't defy an order from Jade Spring Mountain!"
"If you do this, the higher-ups will be furious. It could cost you your promotion to marshal!"
"Marshal?"
Zhao Mengsheng cut him off, his gaze sharp as a blade.
"If I can't even protect my old company commander's son, what would being a marshal mean to me?!"
He paused, a trace of guilt entering his voice.
"My old company commander gave his son a photo of us together. He told him I was his best brother and to come to me if he ever needed help."
"Now his son has been kidnapped and is trapped in Jiangcheng. I'm his only hope!"
Zhao Mengsheng clenched his fist. Every word carried weight.
"I've been a soldier for years. I've always followed orders and never used my position for personal reasons!"
"But today, I, Zhao Mengsheng, will do as I please just this once!!!"
With that, he hung up and looked out the window.
The jet hurtled forward!
Mountains and Rivers raced backward!
But his gaze never wavered.
Obstacles ahead?
He would break through!
Even if mountains of blades and seas of fire stood in his way?
He would crush them!
For the boy waiting desperately in that basement...
This time, he would risk everything!
The fighter jet roared south!
Carrying Zhao Mengsheng's resolve!
And the fury of a hundred thousand battle-hardened soldiers!
Longdu, Jade Spring Mountain.
Every light in the command center was on.
Several elderly men wore dress uniforms adorned with generals' insignia.
Medals gleamed on their chests.
Gold stars shone on their shoulders.
Even the lowest-ranking among them had three stars, enough to leave any powerful figure in awe.
They were the pillars of the military!
Legends to hundreds of millions of citizens!
On the electronic map.
Red dots marking Beacon Fire stretched south.
They formed a blood-red Chang Long that kept advancing.
Tick. Tick. Tick...
The clock on the wall ticked, each sound striking at everyone's nerves.
"How long has it been? Why is there still no word?"
The old general at the head of the table spoke.
His voice was hoarse, but it carried immense authority.
He was the oldest serving general in Dragon Kingdom.
A scar ran from his brow to the corner of his mouth. It was his proudest medal.
"Commander, let's wait a little longer!"
The man beside him offered the reassurance quietly, though sweat was already pouring down his back.
Bang!
Just then, the conference room door was thrown open.
"Report!"
A Senior Colonel rushed in, breathless, holding up the latest intelligence report.
"God of War Shanhe has refused to obey the order!"
"He has led a hundred thousand soldiers past the Northern Frontier defenses!"
"He's heading for Jiangcheng at full speed!"
"What?"
"The nerve of him!"
Several leaders slammed their hands on the table and rose at once.
The air in the conference room seemed to turn to iron.
The Senior Colonel swallowed and forced himself to continue.
"He's also lit more than a hundred Beacon Fire towers!"
"They stretch from the Northern Frontier all the way to Jiangbei!"
"According to reports from the front, he did it for a fellow soldier's son!"
"The boy is Yue Xiaofei, Jiangbei's top scorer on the college entrance exam. Criminals are holding him captive, and his life is in danger!"
"War God Zhao said he would do as he pleased today and personally see that justice is done!!!"
The Senior Colonel trembled as he read out the report.
"Outrageous!"
A naval general slapped the table so hard it shook.
"We've prepared a victory banquet for him, and all of Longdu is waiting to see him receive his marshal's rank! But he throws away that tremendous honor to run off to Jiangbei over some trivial personal matter!"
"Exactly!"
An army general nodded. "He's deploying troops like it's a game, and he's even lit Beacon Fire! Has he given any thought to the consequences?"
"He's too young and too rash!"
The old Commander at the head of the table frowned. "Conquering Wolf Country and expanding our territory doesn't put him above orders. It seems we'll have to rein him in!"
Discontent spread through the conference room.
Bang!
Just then, the door was pushed open again.
Step!
Step!
Step!
A silver-haired old man in a faded uniform walked slowly inside.
He wore no Military Rank insignia and no medals.
Yet every movement carried an air that commanded respect.
Though he was stooped with age and his face was deeply lined, his eyes still shone like stars.
"Elder Xu!"
"Elder Xu, what brings you here?"
At the sight of him, every leader present, regardless of Military Rank—including the Commander—sprang to his feet and saluted.
Their movements were as precise as those of fresh recruits!
