In Modu, Xiaofei was identified as the Lu family’s heir through his grandmother. Blood Covenants bound the city’s major financial families to her descendants; although nine families initially repudiated their covenants, the ten conglomerates later pledged loyalty to him. He also became the Azure Alliance’s Dragon Head and learned that Bund Nos. 1–38, including the Bund No. 8 Club, belonged to him. After surviving a near-fatal injury and receiving Emperor’s Nectar, Xiaofei chose to join Bureau 7 rather than lead a safer life. He later rose to major general; his national service included confronting Japanese commanders, planting the Dragon Kingdom’s flag on Mount Fuji and protecting people in Modu from a catastrophe 347 348 606 699.

His first appearance in a general’s dress uniform included a gold shoulder star and a First-Class Merit medal. He subsequently received nationwide public recognition, ascending a ceremonial high platform as a representative of the Yue family, the nation’s unsung defenders and the Dragon Kingdom’s younger generation 565 916 918.

Xiaofei’s investigation increasingly implicated the Cao family in his father’s disgrace and the betrayal of the Night Watchers at South Mountain. He publicly declared the family his mortal enemy and explained that his confrontation was intended to draw them out. When Cao Longxiang was killed after their fight, Xiaofei denied delivering the fatal attack and accused Cao Xuanye of arranging the poisoning and framing him 704 764 771 800.

After a devastating battle and missile strike, Xiaofei awoke to find that Yue Changlong had returned and saved him. Father and son reunited after five years, but Ning Hongye remained in danger from the Spear of Longinus’s curse. Xiaofei accompanied his father in seeking the items needed to save her and returned to Longdu General Hospital with the Nine-Turn Soul-Returning Herb, Mingwang Relic and Fountain of Youth Water. Their preparations to treat her were interrupted by Ning Pojun and Ning family members who announced their intention to kill her 830 891.

As Swordbearer, Xiaofei confronted the Yi family over its collusion with the Ancient Gods Church, presenting confessions and accusing the clan of providing the Nine Cauldrons Branch Altar Blueprint. After overcoming its hidden Grandmaster deathsworn fighters, he destroyed the family’s plaque and attacked the core members named in the treason testimony. He asserted that his office could act against threats beyond the reach of Bureau 7 and National Security, including executing them before reporting 940 941.

During the East Sea events, an intelligence image of the Ancient Gods Church’s secret weapon, Zero, revealed a swallow-shaped birthmark that Xiaofei recognized as belonging to his missing older sister, Yue Lingfei. He later encountered her in an Underground Palace, refused to harm her despite her attacks, and broke her mask to confirm her identity. His subsequent breakthrough brought his second-stage divine sequence gene lock to its peak 951 960 961 962.

After killing assassins in Jiangcheng, Xiaofei reunited with Yue Qinhu, who briefly recognized him and praised his achievements before becoming confused again. Xiaofei vowed vengeance against the Ancient Gods Church. His methods also prompted an emergency dispute at Swordbearer supreme command, where former Yi and Cao family allies demanded the removal of his tiger tally. Addressing them by secure video, he defended his family’s service and cited his own slaying of a divine envoy on the East Sea 957 958.

At Changbai Mountain, Xiaofei wielded the Black-Gold Hongming Blade with his fully awakened Black Emperor bloodline and later reunited with Yue Feng, who had been trapped beneath the mountain. The brothers fought together against Berserkers, dividing the enemy formation between them. In a later arena confrontation, the Church again deployed Yue Lingfei against Xiaofei. Rather than risk injuring her, he endured her attacks and ultimately unleashed his peak National Authority Level power while declaring that protecting his sister was inseparable from his duty to protect the country 964 968 972 973 989 990 991.

Appearance

Xiaofei is introduced with a sun-darkened, slightly boyish face. Later descriptions emphasize his tall build, sharply defined features and steady, deep-set gaze 1 756.

Personality

Xiaofei is persistent about his family’s honor and unwilling to exchange justice for personal advancement: he refuses Wang Hongtao’s scholarship, expenses and career offer rather than abandon his accusations against Gao Zisheng 212. He likewise joins Bureau 7 because he wants to serve his country, despite his protectors’ objections 347.

He usually stays composed when mocked or underestimated and sees little value in explaining himself to hostile audiences. Against threats, that restraint can give way to intimidation and severe retaliation. He also rejects political protection when he believes accepting it would make him another family’s pawn 712 708 781.

His desire for strength is closely tied to his frustration at depending on others. Watching Yue Feng fight superhuman opponents makes him determined to become strong enough to stand beside his brother, and he later adopts the same goal toward his father. He appreciates sincere support but dislikes others invoking his relatives’ status on his behalf 111 176 182 502 851.

His loyalty to comrades can override concern for his own survival. Despite being severely injured, he refuses Zhao Mengsheng’s order to retreat while wounded soldiers remain behind, even pressing his chest against Zhao’s pistol rather than leaving them 543.

His devotion to family remains a restraint on his otherwise lethal fighting style. When Yue Lingfei attacks under the Church’s control, he repeatedly defends without counterattacking because he fears hurting her. He explicitly identifies himself as her younger brother before invoking his position as Swordbearer, rejecting any separation between protecting his family and protecting his country 960 990 991.

• Yue Qinhu — grandfather and former regimental commander; his service and Pillar of the Country plaque are central to Xiaofei’s first demand for justice 3 697. After the Jiangcheng assassination attempt, he briefly recognizes Xiaofei, touches his general’s star and tells him he has done well before slipping back into confusion 957.
