The communicator in the hall lit up.
[Master.]
Luthor's voice came through.
Chu Men turned his head.
"Speak."
[We've detected abnormal energy fluctuations in outer space.]
Luthor spoke rapidly.
[The Orbital Platform has picked up unidentified flying objects. Thirty-one in total, approaching the atmosphere at high speed.]
Chu Men extended his perception.
He picked up thirty signatures of willpower energy.
They hurtled toward Earth, wreathed in dazzling green light.

Hal Jordan hovered in geosynchronous orbit.
The thirty elite Green Lanterns behind him spread out automatically, forming a tactical semicircle.
The green auras surrounding them linked together, flooding the empty stretch of orbit with light.
Hal looked down.
This was the planet he had sworn to protect.
Hal raised his right hand, and the Green Lantern Ring on his index finger lit up.
He pointed toward a dark red coordinate on North America's East Coast.
"That's Chu Men's place."
"The One God Temple."
The Green Lanterns followed his gesture with their eyes.
Hal wasted no time either.
He accessed the ring's low-level permissions.
The wide-area search activated, pale green streams of data scrolling across his retinas.
Before Hal had left Earth for Oa, Bruce had shared the coordinates of seven emergency shelters with him, including an abandoned nuclear bunker in Kansas and the underground tunnels of Metropolis.
Hal tried to pick up those encrypted tactical frequencies.
The interface remained utterly silent.
There was no response, no sign of the Justice League's vital signatures.
Earth's entire information network had been overwritten by some kind of dark red underlying code.
