"What travel law?"
Lin Mo froze. Joanna looked at Madelyn too. She had been with Lin Mo all day and hadn't heard a thing about any new law.
The Military hadn't mentioned it when they came to see them that morning, either. How had the rules changed while they were out having fun for a day?
And without telling either of them?
Madelyn saw Lin Mo's expression and knew he had no idea what she was talking about.
"I spoke too soon."
She picked up the document on the desk.
"It's still a draft. It hasn't been passed yet."
Maeve explained for her.
"The Military wants to loosen the restrictions on superhumans joining the armed forces."
"They're willing to take any superhuman who's free to sign up and wants to join. They'll even provide specialized training."
Lin Mo understood. Superhumans had worked for the Military before, but most of the time, their job was publicity: filming videos, appearing on camera, striking a few memorable poses. Not many had actually been sent into battle.
The Military had never trusted superhumans much. As far as they were concerned, these people had wildly different abilities, and each was harder to manage than the last. Who knew whether one of them might suddenly go berserk in the middle of a mission?
That was why they had never come up with a proper way for superhumans to formally join the armed forces.
Now they had apparently decided to open the door first and accept anyone willing to come. They could work out what to do with them afterward.
"In short, it gives superhumans another option,"
Maeve said, glancing at the document in her hand.
"But it's only a proposed policy. No one knows when it'll actually take effect."
