Lin Mo nodded. If Edgar had truly dared to agree on his behalf, those military officers wouldn't have just spoken of an invitation when they arrived earlier.
Edgar was also well aware of this. Having dealt with Lin Mo for so long, he had already figured out some of the other man's temper: matters that needed to be clarified should be stated directly, and beating around the bush would only cause trouble for oneself in the end.
Besides, they could be considered to be on the same side now. He had even thought about having Lin Mo step up to put some pressure on the government.
Wasn't the military complaining that Compound V wasn't stable enough? If Lin Mo were willing to speak up for Vought, the government might reconsider the cooperation.
Yet Edgar only dared to think about it in his heart. If he really let Lin Mo pressure the government, things likely wouldn't develop in the direction he envisioned.
What would happen if this fellow ever found negotiating terms too troublesome and decided to conquer the world directly?
By then, what talk of Compound V orders would there be? Whether Edgar could continue serving as CEO of Vought would depend entirely on Lin Mo's mood.
"So they recruited people, you peddled drugs, and in the end neither side negotiated a deal."
Having heard the whole story, Lin Mo summed it up for him.
Edgar remained silent for a moment.
"For now, yes."
"Then negotiate slowly."
Lin Mo didn't find it surprising. It was much like Edgar's mindset in the original timeline, except that because he and Joanna had flown into space, the military had taken notice of Supe earlier, and Edgar had also pushed Compound V in front of them sooner.
Yet the flaws in Compound V remained,
