Chapters 151–175 Vol. 2 Read

Ch. 151Responsibility? A Binding Vow?

Mo Bai told Aemeath that he wanted to stay by Rover’s side because she was his friend, not out of responsibility or a Binding Vow. He left Aemeath convinced that he would stand with Rover when she was in danger.

  • Aemeath joined Mo Bai by the lake after Rover fell asleep and asked why he cared so much about her.
  • Mo Bai teased Aemeath for acting serious, then explained that Rover had been the first person to accept and help him.
  • Aemeath warned Mo Bai that following Rover would bring suffering, but he said he did not regret his choice.
  • Mo Bai clarified that he helped Rover out of friendship, recalling her exhaustion and pain after learning about her past with Aemeath.

Ch. 152Have You Even Forgotten Your Home?

Aemeath attacked Singulum when he tried to say “home,” and Mo Bai and Rover followed them into the Tunneler. After Aemeath and Rover defeated Singulum, his shattered mech revealed a face identical to Rover’s, marked by blazing hatred and resentment.

  • Aemeath announced that their journey to find lost frequencies was continuing, and Mo Bai summoned the Fused Shikigami to travel with her and Rover.
  • The group encountered Singulum near the Tunneler of Lahai Luo, and Mo Bai blocked the mech’s attack with a lightning barrier.
  • Aemeath charged Singulum when he tried to speak to Rover, then dragged him into the Tunneler’s chest.
  • Mo Bai followed Aemeath through a shadow, and Rover insisted on going with him to bring Aemeath back to her senses.
  • With Mo Bai’s help, Aemeath grew stronger, and she and Rover defeated Singulum with a final blow.
  • Singulum’s shattered mech revealed a face identical to Rover’s, with golden eyes full of hatred and resentment.

Ch. 153From the Past, Together Toward Tomorrow

Rover confronted Singulum about her hidden past and chose to protect the friends and life she had found over returning to her homeland. After Singulum rejoined her, Aemeath embraced Rover in tears, and Mo Bai asked Rover to go back with him.

  • Rover brought Aemeath to Mo Bai and told her she did not want her friends to exhaust themselves fighting for her.
  • Aemeath remembered how she had promised to protect Rover and accepted that Rover would have to face her past and future.
  • Rover told Singulum she fought to keep what she cared about and wanted to move forward with her friends.
  • Singulum accepted Rover's choice, returned to her as a wisp of frequency, and urged her to follow the future she believed in.
  • Aemeath threw her arms around Rover and cried, while Rover comforted her.
  • Mo Bai told Rover, "Let's go back together, Rover."

Ch. 154"A Happy Ending"

Aemeath performed a farewell concert at the Academy, where she and Mo Bai supported the exhausted Rover and took a final photo together. After meeting Lynae and confronting his own instinct to help his friends despite his doubts, Mo Bai left for Roy Icefield, expecting someone else to be headed there too.

  • Aemeath sang for her fans at the Academy after regaining the ability to appear physically, while Mo Bai and Rover watched from the audience.
  • Aemeath noticed Rover's exhaustion and took her back to the dorm to rest after taking a photo with Rover and Mo Bai.
  • Mo Bai went to the Academy's Garden and apologized to Lynae for ignoring her messages and missing their meetings.
  • Lynae recognized that Mo Bai was troubled and told him he acted to help others before he could think it through.
  • Mo Bai left the Academy aboard a train-sized Shikigami and headed for a Void Matter lake in Roy Icefield.

Ch. 155Cause and Effect

Mo Bai confronted Aemeath as she prepared to enter the Void Matter Lake and understood she had to travel into the past to preserve the events that created Lahai Luo. The Rover followed Aemeath into the lake, completed the time loop, and surfaced beside a mysterious girl resembling Mo Bai.

  • Mo Bai sensed his Cursed Energy covering the Tunneler’s Greatsword and recognized the connection as cause and effect.
  • Mo Bai found Aemeath at the lake and realized she planned to travel into the past to ensure the Tunneler sealed Aleph-1 and Lahai Luo came to exist.
  • The Rover arrived, but Aemeath apologized and jumped into the lake; the Rover immediately followed her.
  • In the lake, the Rover rescued young Aemeath, encountered Aleph-1, and received Aemeath’s farewell before returning to the present.
  • The Rover surfaced beside Aemeath and saw a black-haired girl who closely resembled Mo Bai.

Ch. 156Commanding General from Another World (Part One)

Aemeath traveled through Void Matter Space to the past and activated the Tunneler to save Lahai Luo, but Mo Bai pulled her away before she could be consumed. Left behind to face Aleph-1 and the failing Tunneler, Mo Bai summoned Mahoraga.

  • Aemeath reached the sunless icefield and used her power to strengthen the Tunneler, pinning Aleph-1 beneath Lahai Luo.
  • Mo Bai pulled Aemeath from the Tunneler and told her he would take her back to Rover.
  • Mo Bai sent the exhausted Aemeath back through Void Matter Space with Nue.
  • Mo Bai faced the Tunneler as Aleph-1 began consuming it again and summoned Mahoraga.

Ch. 157Otherworldly Divine General (Part Two)

Mo Bai entered Void Matter Lake with Mo Hei and followed the memories of Rover and Aemeath, but he freed Mo Hei and sent him back before continuing alone. A girl surfaced from the lake and encountered the Sun Spirits as Rover surfaced nearby, unable to remember whose name she had meant to call.

  • Mo Bai and Mo Hei jumped into Void Matter Lake and watched visions of Rover and Aemeath's past unfold inside the Void Matter Space.
  • Mo Bai decided to follow Aemeath toward the Aleph-1 threat, then told Mo Hei he would face it alone.
  • Mo Bai used a Binding Vow to sever Mo Hei's ties to him and sent him back toward the surface.
  • A black-haired girl in white emerged from the lake, met the Sun Spirits, and was struck by a dark shadow that made her feel more alert.
  • Rover surfaced and saw the unfamiliar girl, then realized she could not remember the name she had been about to call.

Ch. 158Otherworldly Divine General (Part Two)

Mo Bai summoned Mahoraga to fight Aleph-1, and the Shikigami adapted to the Threnodian’s Void Matter using Leviathan’s essence. As Mahoraga drove Aleph-1 back, he pulled Mo Bai into its body, where the Goddess welcomed him.

  • Mahoraga emerged from Mo Bai’s cocoon and struck Mo Bai before turning on Aleph-1.
  • Mahoraga used the Sword of Extermination to attack Aleph-1 and reduce its Void Matter.
  • Mahoraga adapted to Aleph-1’s Void Matter, aided by the Leviathan essence Mo Bai had placed in his cocoon.
  • Mahoraga grew stronger and drove Aleph-1 back toward the Tunneler Gate.
  • Mahoraga reached out of the Void Matter, grabbed Mo Bai, and dragged him into Aleph-1’s body.
  • The white-clad Goddess welcomed Mo Bai in the darkness.

Ch. 159Goodbye, Goddess

After dying in Solaris, Mo Bai met the nameless Goddess again and realized she had brought him back for more than a report about his time there. She asked what he thought of his death, and the chapter ended before he answered.

  • Mo Bai found himself before the nameless Goddess after Mahoraga left him trapped in the Void Matter Space.
  • The Goddess conjured a table and chairs, teased Mo Bai, and called him the hero who had stopped Aleph-1.
  • Mo Bai suspected the Goddess had brought him back for a reason beyond hearing about Solaris.
  • The Goddess asked Mo Bai to reflect on putting his survival first and on being dead, and he said he had nothing to reflect on.
  • The Goddess asked Mo Bai what was on his mind now that he had died.

Ch. 160Death, the Goddess, and the Cheat Ability

After dying, Mo Bai questioned the Goddess about his reincarnation and learned she had deliberately chosen him and rigged his ability because of his conflicted personality. Satisfied that Solaris had reached a happy ending, he was asked whether he wanted to go back.

  • Mo Bai told the Goddess that he had never expected to choose death, then accused her of rigging his initial draw to give him the Ten Shadows Technique.
  • The Goddess admitted she had chosen Mo Bai for reincarnation because of his hesitation and contradictions, and said she had wanted him as her ideal protagonist.
  • Mo Bai accused the Goddess of giving him Cursed Energy and the Ten Shadows Technique so she could watch him die in a spectacular sacrifice.
  • The Goddess explained that Mo Bai had crossed over because of the part of himself he had hated, and Mo Bai reflected that Solaris's cause and effect had been resolved and Aemeath was safe.
  • Mo Bai began asking what would happen next, but the Goddess interrupted him and asked whether he wanted to go back.

Ch. 161Starting Over in Solaris

The Goddess offered Mo Bai a chance to return to Solaris, and he accepted despite expecting to reappear in the dangerous Void Matter Space. She gave him a random draw that granted him Limitless, then sent him back, where he hoped to reunite with his friends and reach a happy ending.

  • The Goddess asked Mo Bai whether he wanted to return to Solaris, and he suspected she would send him back into the Void Matter Space.
  • Mo Bai accepted the offer because he wanted to survive and see his old friends again.
  • The Goddess spun her cheat wheel, and Mo Bai received the Limitless Cursed Technique without the Six Eyes.
  • The Goddess sent Mo Bai away, and he resolved to rebuild his bond with Mo Hei and reunite with his friends in Solaris.

Ch. 162A Different Mahoraga

Mo Bai returned to Aleph-1 and faced Mahoraga, which had adapted to the Void Matter and was trying to keep him trapped so the subjugation ritual would continue. After escaping its attacks, Mo Bai realized his Ten Shadows abilities alone were unlikely to defeat it and hinted that he had another means to fight.

  • Mo Bai found Mahoraga still fighting in Aleph-1 and considered how the shikigami could disappear if he escaped or the ritual ended.
  • Mahoraga stopped when Mo Bai approached, then attacked him to cripple and confine him, believing it could withstand Aleph-1's attacks.
  • Mo Bai used Great Serpent's Animal-Form Fist to evade Mahoraga's strike, then used a fused shikigami to escape its next charge.
  • Mahoraga chose an iron ball and appeared ready to injure itself to adapt to blunt-force attacks, but Mo Bai shattered it with Piercing Blood.
  • Mo Bai switched to the Light Cursed Technique and escaped Mahoraga, which grew angry after realizing he had vanished.
  • Mo Bai acknowledged that defeating Mahoraga with the Ten Shadows alone seemed nearly impossible, then touched his left eye and alluded to help from a Goddess.

Ch. 163Black Lightning Returns

Mo Bai fought Mahoraga inside the Void Matter, using controlled blows to make Mahoraga adapt while he sought a way to overcome him. After Mahoraga adapted to the Animal-Form Fist and gained the advantage, Mo Bai let the Sword of Extermination cut him and landed another Black Flash, leaving the fight unresolved.

  • Mo Bai judged that neither a single physical strike nor a Cursed Energy attack would be enough to defeat Mahoraga, and decided to use another approach.
  • Mo Bai caught Mahoraga’s Sword of Extermination and battered him with punches strengthened by Max Elephant until Mahoraga’s wheel turned and his body grew tougher.
  • Mahoraga changed the sword’s Positive Energy to Cursed Energy and charged Mo Bai again, while Mo Bai fought him using the Animal-Form Fist.
  • Mahoraga adapted to the Animal-Form Fist and drove Mo Bai back, prompting Mo Bai to let the sword cut him.
  • Mo Bai felt he had grasped the technique and struck Mahoraga’s chest with another Black Flash.

Ch. 164Limitless and Adaptation

Mo Bai fought Mahoraga in Void Matter Space, using repeated Black Flashes to improve his control over Cursed Energy before testing Limitless. Though Limitless overwhelmed his mind and Mahoraga wounded him, Mo Bai launched Blue as the fight continued.

  • Mo Bai repeatedly struck Mahoraga with Black Flashes and minimized the Cursed Energy he needed for Reverse Cursed Technique as he recovered from Mahoraga’s slashes.
  • Mahoraga adapted to Black Flash, learned to use it himself, and forced Mo Bai back in their clash.
  • Mo Bai activated Limitless, but the technique flooded his mind with overwhelming human frequencies and left him barely able to move.
  • Mahoraga attacked Mo Bai from behind and cut out one of his eyes, but the loss of visual input helped Mo Bai think more clearly.
  • Mo Bai faced Mahoraga and used Cursed Technique Lapse: Blue.

Ch. 165Gravity and Binding Vows

Mo Bai used Limitless’s Blue and Red against Mahoraga, then summoned Yamata no Orochi to hold it off while he prepared a stronger Blue with a Binding Vow. The vow made Blue’s attraction act directly on Mahoraga in exchange for freeing it from Ten Shadows, and Mahoraga realized it was being pulled toward Mo Bai.

  • Mo Bai used Blue to divert Mahoraga’s sword strikes, then hit it with Red and tore off one of its arms, which quickly regenerated.
  • Mo Bai summoned Yamata no Orochi, whose durability and regenerating heads kept Mahoraga occupied.
  • Mo Bai switched back to Limitless and chanted to strengthen Blue as he formed a Binding Vow.
  • Mo Bai vowed that Blue would act directly on Mahoraga in exchange for removing it from Ten Shadows and granting it freedom.
  • Mahoraga realized Blue was pulling it toward Mo Bai, and its alarm replaced its smile.

Ch. 166Adaptation

Mo Bai used a Binding Vow and Blue to pull Mahoraga’s adaptation Wheel away from him, then attached it to himself to ease the strain of Limitless. Mahoraga lost his adaptation and gained freedom, but attacked Mo Bai in rage and was blasted away with Red.

  • Mo Bai used Blue to draw Mahoraga’s adaptation toward himself while the Yamata no Orochi held Mahoraga back.
  • Mahoraga’s adaptation left him, and Mo Bai seized the golden Wheel and fixed it to himself.
  • The Wheel began easing Mo Bai’s headache as Mahoraga realized he was free and erupted in rage.
  • Mahoraga destroyed the Yamata no Orochi and charged Mo Bai with black lightning from his fist.
  • Mo Bai used Red to blast Mahoraga away, then noted that Mahoraga’s previously acquired adaptations remained.

Ch. 167Promise

Mo Bai spared Mahoraga in the Void Matter Space and promised to return for him, then used Limitless to find a way out. Left alone, Mahoraga resolved to grow stronger and escape or face Mo Bai again.

  • Mo Bai realized Mahoraga could no longer defeat him and that he could use Limitless to escape the Void Matter Space.
  • Mo Bai told Mahoraga to survive and wait for him, promising him a chance for revenge when he returned.
  • Mo Bai opened a door through the Void Matter Space and left Mahoraga behind.
  • After the door vanished, Mahoraga decided to spend however long it took growing stronger until he could escape or fight Mo Bai.

Ch. 168An Unforgettable Return

Mo Bai returned from Void Matter Space and sensed something important before he could heal his wounds. At the Roy Icefield, Dania felt an unseen threat and encountered a one-eyed Blood Man just as Mo Bai arrived.

  • Mo Bai emerged into a snowy expanse, switched off Limitless to ease his headache, and planned to return to the Academy.
  • Mo Bai sensed something urgent and turned his attention toward the Roy Icefield.
  • Siglica met Dania at the Polar Research Station, and the two headed toward the Transit Spine.
  • Dania grew uneasy on the way back and sent Siglica ahead, claiming she had forgotten something.
  • A one-eyed Blood Man crawled out of a shadow before Dania, and Mo Bai arrived amid snow and Blade Aura.

Ch. 169The Grand Assembly of the Six Kingdoms

Rover left Star Torch Academy for the Polar Research Station after learning of trouble there, while the mysterious black-haired girl and an odd gap in a photograph deepened her suspicions. At the station, Mo Bai, Siglica, and a Miko nearly fought before realizing they had misunderstood one another.

  • Rover wondered about the black-haired girl who had returned with her and noticed that a photograph of herself and Aemeath seemed to leave space for someone else.
  • A student at the Polar Research Station contacted Rover about an emergency, so Rover hurried there and asked Aemeath to tell her if Principal Losera learned anything.
  • Mo Bai approached Dania, suspecting she was the person who had attacked him in Sonoro, and the Miko attacked him to protect her.
  • Siglica rushed back to the station and joined the Miko and Mo Bai in a standoff in front of Dania.
  • The three noticed that none of them had fought at full strength, lowered their weapons, and Siglica timidly began to speak.

Ch. 170"The Intruder"

Mo Bai realized that the Academy and Rover no longer remembered him as an old friend, and the Academy treated him as an intruder. After the interrogation, Rover watched over him in the garden, where he took comfort in hearing her say his name.

  • Siglica recognized the Miko, while Mo Bai questioned why she and Dania acted as if they did not know him.
  • Rover arrived, and Mo Bai realized from her unfamiliar manner that she saw him as a stranger.
  • The Academy interrogated Mo Bai, found that his account conflicted with its records, and took his Tacet Disc for examination.
  • Rover was assigned to watch Mo Bai, and he recalled how his old friends and Academy students now treated him with distance.
  • Abu emerged from Rover's Resonance Mark and recoiled from Mo Bai's Cursed Energy, while Rover reassured him before saying Mo Bai's name.

Ch. 171The Forsaken

Mo Bai told Rover he would reclaim what the Goddess had taken rather than settle for forming new bonds, and he resolved to find another way to meet her while staying alive. Rover agreed to tell him about her past twice, giving him a promise to hold on to as he pursued his goal.

  • Rover told Mo Bai she believed him because she had once known someone who faced a similar loss of memory.
  • Mo Bai decided to reclaim his lost place in the world and meet the Goddess without dying or approaching death.
  • Mo Bai asked Rover to tell him about her past, and she promised to tell it once now and again after he achieved his goal.
  • Rover and Mo Bai hooked their little fingers to seal the promise.

Ch. 172Problems of Their Own

Mo Bai accompanied the Rover to the Research Institute after learning that research on his Tacet Disc had yielded results, while Mo Hei stayed at the Academy under Losera’s care. The chapter ended as Mo Bai and the Rover reached Mornye, whose grave expression suggested the research had uncovered something serious.

  • Mo Bai left Mo Hei with Losera and kept Nue in Mo Hei’s shadow to protect her while she experienced life at the Academy.
  • Losera questioned Mo Hei, reassured her that she would be safe, and contacted Lu Hess to arrange a physical examination after noticing the Tunneler Swarm Creatures avoided her.
  • Mo Bai and the Rover went to the Research Institute, and he recounted parts of their shared past as they walked.
  • Mo Bai and the Rover entered the room where Recording Tapes were made and found Mornye studying the data with a grave expression.

Ch. 173The Advantage of Being Forgotten

Mo Bai learned that the Academy’s records confirmed his Tacet Disc was genuine, but its footage omitted him from events that Rover remembered. He decided to use the world’s failure to remember him to his advantage and began explaining the Remnant Star Society, while its President planned to approach Rover.

  • Professor Mornye confirmed that Mo Bai’s Tacet Disc was made by the Academy and had not been tampered with.
  • Professor Mornye compared the Tacet Disc footage with the Academy’s records and found that the records showed Rover and Lynae fighting the Voidworm without Mo Bai.
  • Mo Bai set aside his lost memories for the moment and told Rover and Professor Mornye he would share what he knew about the Remnant Star Society.
  • Christopher reported to the Remnant Star Society’s President that his script had gaps dating back to her time in Lahai Luo, confirming their memories had been affected.
  • The President decided to pursue a lead from her spy and try to bring Rover over to the Remnant Star Society’s side.

Ch. 174Plans for the Future

Losera and Lu Hess discovered that Mo Hei’s frequencies were dangerously chaotic but decided to observe him, while Rover helped Mo Bai report Dania as a suspected Remnant Star Society spy. After recovering his Tacet Disc, Mo Bai revealed that he had another request concerning the Society.

  • Lu Hess and Losera found that Mo Hei’s frequencies were nearly indistinguishable from a Tacet Discord’s and agreed to observe him.
  • Losera received a troubling call from Rover and left to handle another problem.
  • Rover told Losera that Mo Bai had identified Dania as a Remnant Star Society spy, and Mo Bai demonstrated how his Divine Dogs could track her scent and frequency.
  • Mornye accepted that Losera should surveil Dania rather than arrest her, while Rover promised to keep an eye on Mo Bai.
  • Mo Bai recovered his Tacet Disc, then stopped Rover and Mornye to ask them for help with another matter involving the Remnant Star Society.

Ch. 175Farewell, Charon

Siglica and Dania met Mo Hei at Star Torch Academy, while Dania sensed something troubling about him. Outside the Academy, Mo Bai met Charon beneath a Voidmatter Magnetic Storm and identified him as the President of the Remnant Star Society.

  • Siglica excitedly told Dania she had been assigned to guide a new junior student, and Dania agreed to join her.
  • Mo Hei approached Siglica and Dania, and they introduced themselves as his guides around the Academy.
  • Dania sensed that Mo Hei's frequency resembled that of the madman she had encountered at the Polar Research Station.
  • Mo Bai walked through the simulated outdoor environment beneath Lahai Luo and used repulsive force to move the Tunneler Swarm Creatures out of a descending Voidmatter Magnetic Storm.
  • Mornye asked Rover why Rover trusted Mo Bai, and Rover attributed the trust to intuition.
  • Mo Bai met Charon inside the storm and recognized him as the President of the Remnant Star Society.
