The Princess stared intently at Aaron, her eyes blazing. Clearly, if he gave an answer she disliked, she was ready to make him pay!
But Aaron remained calm. Pretending to be rather listless, he smiled and nodded. "Charlotte was here earlier."
"You pass." Only then did Alusair let Aaron off the hook. That was what she had suspected, too.
With her suspicions confirmed, Alusair wore the exact same annoyed, complaining expression as Charlotte. "Damn it, I knew it! She told me she was teaching classes at the Academy this afternoon!"
Hearing Alusair's transparently self-serving explanation, the young lady beneath the bed nearly rolled her eyes into the heavens.
Alice! You bastard! Didn't you tell me you were inspecting the Military Camp this afternoon?!
You're done for!
The Princess on the bed and the young lady beneath it thought almost simultaneously.
Aaron couldn't help laughing. "Looks like you both had the same idea," he said gently.
"Don't mention her to me!" Alusair immediately denied any connection.
Don't lump me in with that woman! The young lady likewise gritted her teeth in anger, clenching both fists.
Charlotte kept feeling that something was strange. She had explicitly told Aaron she would help him thoroughly win Alusair over, but actually seeing the two sitting on the same bed still left her feeling rather odd.
There was a little jealousy, a little heartache, a little happiness, and a thrill she couldn't quite describe!
The young lady felt as though she had opened the door to a whole new world.
Whatever the young lady beneath the bed might have been thinking, Alusair had already tried to strike up a conversation above it. "How are you? Feeling any better?"
"Not really. My body's so weak that even a goblin could crush me to death right now. My
