The Sunset Lands bustled with people. Most of the residents still had no idea that Aaron and Eleanor had returned to the castle, and the streets were packed with adventurers who had come to join the Chaos Expedition.
As always, everyone still loved the Chaos Expedition.
But just a few days earlier, a brand-new version of the Chaos Expedition had gone live. The adventurers joining it discovered changes in the world they traveled to, and the nature of the expedition had changed as well.
They appeared in a world called the "Lands Between," where their mission was to fight two demigods: the "Lord of the High Wall" and the "Anointed." What had once been a one-off mission had become a world quest. Each Chaos Expedition still followed its own linear mission, but now included challenges against the demigods and much richer rewards. Under the new rules, those challenges would only unlock once enough Chaos Expeditions had been completed across the Realms. Each time adventurers defeated the two demigods, they would shave off only a tiny amount of their health, determined by the expedition's difficulty.
For example, even a successful level-nine Chaos Expedition against Perturabo would only take nine hit points off his true body, while his actual health ran into the millions.
This was the plan Aaron and the Emperor had devised together.
We might not be able to cleanse the corruption of Chaos or reverse the fact that the Primarchs had become creatures of the Warp.
But we could wear them down!
Bit by bit, they would clear the corruption from the two Daemon Primarchs.
