Background / History

Eleanor’s parents and origins are unknown; she does not speak of her past. She appeared in Cormyr about ten years before the events of the story. As a teenager, she defeated gang members hired to stage an attack on her, rather than allowing the nobleman behind it to pose as her rescuer 8.

Eleanor and Asha find Aaron after an attack in the King’s Forest and bring him to the Silver Mother’s shrine in Seabury. Eleanor takes him to High Priestess Lady Silverstar when he asks for help. After Selûne heals him, Silverstar assigns Eleanor a task concerning him, and the two travel together to Suzail 3 4 7.

In Suzail, Eleanor continues church work while keeping watch over Aaron. After a three-week adventure, she uses Silverstar’s authority to secure his release from confinement following a bar fight. She later agrees to accompany him on an expedition toward Eveningstar and recommends Asha as their third companion 22 44 47 49.

Appearance

Eleanor is a slender, golden-haired half-elf with blue eyes and pointed ears. She usually covers her face and wears a priest’s robe over armor 3 7 13.

• Face covering: A mask or veil bearing the Silver Mother’s holy symbol. She began wearing a veil after finding that much of the attention she received was directed at her beauty rather than her work as a priest 3 10.
• Hair: Shorter around her forehead and temples, with the rest commonly tied back; she also wears it loose or braided 3 13 47.
• Armor: A silver breastplate beneath her white-and-silver priest’s robe 3 7.

Personality

Eleanor is warm and attentive with Selûne’s followers, but reserved while adventuring. Around Aaron, she gradually shows a sharper, more playful side: she argues with him, sees through some of his schemes, and answers his teasing with her own 20 21.

She takes her faith and duties seriously. She tells Aaron that saving a life should not depend on payment, challenges his wasteful use of magic in battle, and believes Selûne’s gifts oblige him to do more than live idly. She also resents being valued for her appearance instead of her abilities as a cleric 4 10 14 22.

• Twilight Flame: Casts moonlight that protects Aaron during a bugbear ambush 9.
• Divine channeling: After advancing, can channel Selûne’s power twice in a single battle 44.
• Leomund’s Tiny Hut: Creates a dry, comfortable hemisphere with a ten-foot radius and room for up to nine people. Those inside when it is cast can pass through; those outside cannot enter 44.

Warhammer combat

• Fights with the church warhammer Hand of the Moon and kills a bugbear with a strike to its head 7 9.
• Defeated a group of attackers with the hammer when she was fourteen or fifteen 8.

• Holy book — bears the Silver Mother’s emblem and is used in her divine spellcasting 7 9.
• Angel-wing necklace and pendant — the pendant holds a luminous blue strand of hair from an angel she once met 3 14.

• Shell of lip color — a gift from Aaron that she keeps in her hands when they discuss their next expedition 47.

Relationships

• Aaron Salian — a longtime acquaintance whose rescuer and assigned watcher she becomes. Their travels develop into a trusting, teasing friendship; she joins his Eveningstar expedition 3 7 20 47 49.
• Lady Silverstar — the high priestess who entrusts Eleanor with watching over Aaron and grants her the authority she later uses to obtain his release 7 44.
• Asha — fellow rescuer of Aaron and Eleanor’s choice for a reliable close-combat teammate 3 47 48.
• The angel — a figure from Eleanor’s past whose remaining strand of hair she keeps in a pendant. She does not explain what happened to the angel 14.
• Children at Selûne’s temple — play with her in Greenleaf Courtyard and call her “Big Sister Eleanor” 47.
