Travels and Gambling Debt

Tsunade leaves Konoha and travels between countries with Shizune, who has accompanied her since childhood. By the time Aogetsu seeks her out, even Katsuyu has not seen her in over two years 49 93.

Her gambling losses become famous enough that casino patrons eagerly bet against her. In Tanzaku Town, she gambles with two hundred million borrowed from the Land of Fire’s Daimyo under her standing as a Sannin. Shizune later identifies their total debt as five hundred million 91 92.

The Yin Seal Confrontation

Aogetsu needs Tsunade’s knowledge to complete Sakura’s Strength of a Hundred training. Rather than approach her openly, he disguises himself as a masked debt collector, wins her remaining three hundred million in a coin toss, and transports Tsunade and Shizune into a desert dimension with oppressive gravity and heat 20 35 92.

Tsunade resists his threats but agrees to provide the Yin Seal to protect Shizune. She creates a blood-inscribed scroll usable by one person, explaining that only she can set up the seal. Aogetsu also notices that she no longer panics at the sight of blood, confirming that her hemophobia has been cured 93.

Becoming the Fifth Hokage

Tsunade subsequently confronts Aogetsu, destroying his inn with a kick and breaking Sasuke’s ribs with a restrained punch. Their argument spreads destruction through Tanzaku Town while Aogetsu attempts to persuade her to become Hokage 95 97.

Although she dislikes the political burden, Tsunade decides to return to Konoha. Settling down with Shizune and keeping closer watch over Aogetsu appeal to her, and she uses his eagerness for her appointment to negotiate a personal bargain 97.

Danzō claims the Fifth Hokage position during her absence. Tsunade returns in her temporarily childlike form, reveals her identity, and forces him out with Aogetsu’s backing. Shikaku then begins arranging her inauguration 100 101.

As Hokage, Tsunade publicly declares Konoha’s alliance with Kirigakure. When Ōnoki announces plans to interfere with the Three-Tails’ revival, she suspects a classified-information leak and summons Konoha’s jōnin to prepare support for the Mist 117.

She also seeks to strengthen Konoha through Aogetsu’s Six Powers training methods, recognizing their potential for widespread use rather than treating them solely as personal techniques 161.

During the assault by Pain and the Four-Tails, Tsunade regrets sending Aogetsu away and suspects a larger scheme. Deva Path counters her attack, impales her abdomen with a Black Rod, and disrupts her chakra.
