Background / History

Kurenai first met Aogetsu Hyuga when he served as the examiner for her Chūnin promotion. He considered her troublesome and failed her without allowing her to take the test, leaving her furious and in tears. She later became a Chūnin despite that humiliation. 6 58

Several months afterward, Kurenai was ambushed during a mission in the Land of Earth. Aogetsu happened to pass by and rescued her. Although he took the money she had saved as “protection fees,” the incident changed the way she viewed him; her resentment gradually developed into affection. 58

She gives him Kakashi’s scroll concerning Naruto’s Nine-Tails chakra and witnesses him erase a hill containing hidden Root observers.
