Background and History

Madara founded Konoha alongside Hashirama Senju. Believed to have died in their earlier conflict, he survived; Hiruzen later attributes his escape to Izanagi. In old age, he remains alive by connecting himself to the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path 10 85 143 152.

Working underground with Black and White Zetsu, Madara prepares Obito to carry on his plan. He notices Uchiha Liuyun’s talent but initially orders the Zetsu not to interfere with him. Madara later considers drawing Liuyun into darkness as a successor 85 121.

Liuyun’s challenge brings Madara out of hiding. He disconnects from the Demonic Statue and temporarily regains his youthful strength, knowing the decision will cost him his life. Their battle devastates the Fire–Earth border. Madara concedes when Liuyun overcomes his strongest attack, then turns to ash; Liuyun takes his Gunbai 136 137 138 139.

Appearance

In old age, Madara has white hair and a frail body, though he retains an imposing presence. When he restores his youth, he has black hair, a proud expression, and scarred red armor 85 136.

• Eyes — Uses the Sharingan and Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan; later possesses the Rinnegan 137 247.
• Six Paths form — Floats with a Six Paths Staff and nine Truth-Seeking Orbs behind him 247.

Personality

Madara is proud, dismissive of ordinary opponents, and eager to test himself against someone strong enough to challenge him. He respects Liuyun’s fighting ability and acknowledges Might Guy’s taijutsu even while fighting them 136 139 240 249.

He pursues peace through the Infinite Tsukuyomi despite Hashirama’s objection that such a world would be an illusion. His confidence in that plan leaves him unprepared for Black Zetsu’s betrayal 248 250 251.
