Noil landed on the deck and said, "Thanks!"
Robin shook her head. At last, the two of them landed safely on the White Sea unique to the Sky Island.
They were roughly seven thousand meters above the ground. To find the island, they would probably have to climb a little higher.
The ship, which had endured so much abuse, was now battered and tattered. The bottom creaked, making sailing feel rather nerve-racking.
Following the Knock Up Stream, Noil had successfully entered the route to High West.
Sailing through the sky was undoubtedly a magical experience. The ship wound upward in circles along the sea of clouds, its altitude steadily increasing.
Noil found the sensation of flying through the heavens incredibly strange and wonderful. Even Robin looked intensely curious about their surroundings.
Guided by the sea of clouds, Noil gradually left High West and entered the depths of the cloud sea.
As far as the eye could see, this layer was nothing but an endless white ocean.
Besides that, there was a building standing on the sea. Behind it was a staircase of clouds leading even higher.
Noil raised a hand to his forehead and gazed into the distance. This should be the gate leading to the highest White Sea, right?
He remembered that to enter the "land of God" ruled by Enel, they seemed to have to pass through this place.
Noil's ship sailed slowly onward, but through Observation Haki's foresight, he saw a figure speeding toward them.
The man was bare-chested from the waist up and wore a grass skirt below. Most eye-catching of all was the pair of small white wings on his back.
He wore a bull mask and rode a strange, jet-powered shoe, charging straight toward Noil with a clear target.
The man carried a long-barreled cannon on his shoulder. Stepping on the Sea Cloud, he suddenly leaped up and swung the cannon at Noil, shouting, "Greedy outsider! Don't even think about entering!"
Judging by that appearance, was he one of the Shandia from the Sky Island?
Noil frowned and extended his five fingers. Calmly reaching to the side, he swiftly seized the iron cannon that had been swung like a club.
The Shandia had fought for generations to ring the Golden Bell and fulfill their ancestors' wishes. Noil admired that spirit.
But people who came looking for trouble were another matter entirely.
Noil swung his fist. Under the Shandian's astonished gaze, he drove it straight into the man's nose.
The mask shattered on impact, revealing an exceptionally young yet ferocious face.
Noil took one look and found him strangely familiar. Just as he was about to speak, several shouts suddenly came from beneath the ship.
"Wyper! We have to go! Enel's men have found us."
Only after hearing that name did Noil remember this character's role.
There were many supporting characters in the world of pirates whose names and appearances in the story were limited, yet whose strength was quite impressive.
For example, the demon Gin, who had once suppressed Sanji in the East Blue, and the Warlord Wyper standing before him.
With a set of Seastone and several Reject Dials, he had nearly sent the great God Enel to his grave.
Hearing his companions call for him, Wyper glared fiercely at Noil.
After hesitating for a moment, he finally jumped off the ship and left with his companions.
This little incident did not delay Noil's plans. In fact, as he watched Wyper leave, he felt inexplicably tempted.
He intended to find a few companions on the Sky Island to travel with him. This man was worth trying to recruit!
He had already started considering potential candidates.
Enel counted as one. Even if he refused, Noil would beat him up and drag him back.
If that did not work, he could only kill him and take the complete Rumble-Rumble Fruit ability.
With Wyper included, that made two people.
Ideally, he would recruit another gentle girl or someone like that. His entire ship could not have Robin as its only girl.
He had not even recruited a single person yet, but Noil had already planned everything out perfectly.
After the Shandia withdrew, Noil also planned to visit them after landing on the island. Meanwhile, the ship unknowingly reached the gate.
The gate was shaped like an arch bridge, with a small room embedded beneath it. Someone seemed to be guarding the place.
Just after they reached the side of the gate, an aged voice suddenly came from nearby.
"You two, you must pay an entry fee before entering the Sky Island."
Another entry fee?
Noil narrowed his eyes and looked to the side. The door of the building opened, and a tiny old woman walked out.
She was extremely short and had small wings on her back.
Even her aged face was covered in wrinkles. Holding up the camera hanging around her neck, the expressionless old woman stopped Noil and the others.
Noil asked irritably, "How much do you want?"
"Ten billion Extol per person." The old woman did not change her expression. She added, "That's equivalent to one hundred thousand Beli from the Blue Sea below."
It was not particularly expensive, but why should Noil, who always did whatever he pleased, pay?
Just think about it. When had the Bellemere family ever paid someone unjustified fees?
Noil jangled the sword at his waist and threatened, "What happens if I don't pay a single coin?"
The old woman glanced at Noil, who clearly did not look like a good person, and said, "If you don't pay, you may still enter."
Noil froze for a moment, then nodded in satisfaction. "Then we're not paying. Let's go!"
Robin looked at the camera in the old woman's hand and sighed helplessly.
We just got here, and we've already offended someone?
The old woman nodded. Then, beneath Noil's ship, two red claws clamped onto the hull, and an armored body emerged from the sea.
This was the Sky Island's specialty of the White Sea: an Express Shrimp, used specifically to carry people to higher seas.
Noil had sensed it with Observation Haki long ago and was not the least bit flustered. The giant lobster carried the ship on its back and swiftly swam toward the cloud staircase ahead.
After they left, the old woman took out a shell used for communication and reported in a slow voice:
"Amazon, surveillance officer of Heaven's Gate, reporting to the Almighty God and all the honorable priests."
"Two people have entered the land of God illegally. Please grant them the punishment of heaven!"
Chapter 67: Conis the Angel
Carried by the Express Shrimp, Noil charged all the way up to the White White Sea ten thousand meters in the sky, completely unaware that he had already been declared wanted by the Sky Island.
Amid the white sea of clouds, Noil's ship spotted an island in the distance.
Island Cloud supported the island, while layers of buildings formed an exceptionally beautiful cluster of aerial islands.
Robin gazed at the distant shore and exclaimed, "So this is the Sky Island. It's truly amazing."
Noil nodded and began studying the Sky Island with great interest.
There was no way to see such a sight in his previous life. This bizarre and wondrous world really did contain every kind of miracle...
Before the two of them could admire the view for long, a tremendous crash suddenly came from beneath their feet.
Hearing it, Noil hurried to inspect the bottom of the ship. He found a large hole in the planks.
Noil quickly told Robin to steer the ship and get them to shore, while he used his sand ability to plug the hole a few times.
After its final voyage, the battle-hardened ship finally collapsed at the shore of the Sky Island.
The soft Island Cloud beneath their feet felt rather like standing on a beach by the sea.
Noil and Robin stood on the Island Cloud, gazing at the ship that was almost falling apart.
Noil felt a little reluctant to part with it. The ship had accompanied her through a long period of sailing, and seeing it break down now was genuinely sad.
The things aboard the ship were not badly damaged, which eased Noil's mind somewhat.
Robin tentatively walked along the Island Cloud beach and soon found two chairs made of clouds.
She gently sat down and said in amazement, "Turning clouds into furniture is really interesting."
Noil bounced around excitedly on the Island Cloud. The clouds looked soft and fluffy, but they were actually very sturdy and incredibly malleable.
They felt almost the same as the sand on a beach, but they were more interesting than sand.
Noil sat cross-legged and used clouds to build a castle, as though he had rediscovered his childhood.
Just as Noil was childishly building a house, a bright white furry tail suddenly appeared in front of him.
Noil froze. Following the large tail downward with his eyes, he found a petite fox covered in snow-white fur.
So cute...
Robin showed no reaction on the surface, but she was secretly captivated as well.
A fox from the Sky Island... Should it be called a Sky Fox or a Cloud Fox?
Delighted, Noil grabbed the little fox by the tail and lifted him up. Licking his lips, he said, "I wonder what food from the Sky Island tastes like."
The little Cloud Fox seemed to understand Noil. Even while dangling in the air, he desperately kicked his hind legs and waved his two little paws.
His tiny eyes glared furiously at Noil, as if condemning him for being so heartless.
Noil ignored the little creature's expression. Weighing its hind legs in his hand, he muttered, "Nice legs!"
Seeing the green light in the human's eyes, the Cloud Fox, which had initially been kicking about energetically, began to tremble. It desperately twisted its body, trying to escape.
Worried about damaging the meat, Noil did not dare use too much force. The little Cloud Fox quickly broke free from his clutches and ran toward Robin.
The Cloud Fox leaped onto Robin's instep and clung tightly to her lower leg with its little paws, hiding its head beneath its enormous tail as though that would keep anyone from finding it.
Robin bent down and scratched the little fellow's neck. Feeling its body tremble, she said,
"What a cute little thing. I wonder if it has an owner."
Noil scratched his head, unsure what to say.
At that moment, his ears twitched. Noil keenly heard a faint sound in the distance and said, "It sounds like someone's playing a harp."
"Over there." Robin pointed in one direction, and the two of them walked toward the cloud beach together.
The fox seemed to have been frightened out of its wits. It clung to the top of Robin's foot and refused to come down, so she had no choice but to walk with the burden.
When they reached the place where the harp music was drifting from, Noil and Robin froze together.
On the sea of clouds stood a beautiful blond girl in a pale-yellow, high-collared dress. Her eyes were gently closed, and a pair of playful white wings spread behind her. Like a divine maiden, she softly played the harp in her hands beneath the sun's blessing.
The melodious notes flowed from the girl's delicate fingers. The beautiful music even left Noil and Robin, who had hurried over, intoxicated.
She really looked like an angel from heaven...
Noil and Robin listened to the soothing music, unable to bring themselves to disturb the girl playing the harp.
However, the little fox beneath Robin's feet did not feel the same way.
"Sisi!"
Hearing the harp, the little fox poked his head out from beneath his large tail and peeked twice. Then he called out and ran over.
The girl stopped playing when she heard the sound. Seeing the little fox racing toward her, she cried out in delight, "Sisi, where did you go?"
The little fox called Sisi pounced into the girl's arms. Looking pitiful, he stretched out his paws, pointed at Noil and himself, and gestured frantically.
The girl could not understand what he meant. Afraid of causing a misunderstanding, Robin stepped forward and said, "We found him on the beach over there just now. He must have been frightened."
Noil nodded solemnly. "Yes, yes. This fox is really timid."
Sisi stared at Noil in disbelief. The little fellow was so angry that he began biting his own large tail.
The girl showed no hostility toward them. Smiling, she introduced herself, "My name is Conis, and this is my Cloud Fox, Sisi."
When Sisi heard his owner mention him, he cooperatively raised a paw and waved at Robin, then grunted at Noil.
Robin smiled and stroked his head. "We came from the sea below. My name is Robin, and he's my captain, Noil."
Perhaps because they had reached a Sky Island that the Navy and the Government would find difficult to locate, Robin, who was usually rather reserved, seemed much more cheerful.
Conis's large, curious eyes blinked repeatedly. "Are you from the Blue Sea? That's amazing! You actually managed to reach a place this high!"
Noil recalled the difficult journey through High West and said, "It was certainly troublesome enough. Our ship was destroyed, but at least we're still alive."
At that moment, the roar of an engine starting rang out across the sea of clouds. Conis looked at Noil and Robin and smiled apologetically. "That should be my father, Pagaya. He's a Waver repair technician."
