Background and History
Noil arrives from Earth in the body of a three-year-old amid the ruins of an Oykot Kingdom village. A tag bearing the name Kielros D. Noir is his only possession. While searching the wreckage for food, he meets the orphaned Nojiko and Nami and shares his first piece of bread with them. Marine Bellemere finds the three children, leaves the Marines, and takes them to her home in Cocoyasi Village 1 2 3.
Knowing that Arlong is due to attack Cocoyasi, Noil trains to prevent Bellemere’s death. At ten, he defeats the Savage Bear Pirates’ captain, Kenbula, but is badly injured in the fight. He then spends two years training in seclusion and returns in time to stop Arlong’s crew. Afterward, he becomes a pirate hunter rather than join pirates or serve the World Government 3 4 6 7 8 9 12.
Noil eventually leaves Cocoyasi for the Grand Line. During his travels, Robin identifies his pendant as a symbol of the destroyed Noytem Kingdom’s royal family. This suggests a connection to its former rulers, but how the child carrying the pendant reached the East Blue remains unresolved 15 41 42.
Appearance
Noil grows unusually tall: he is already over six feet tall at age ten. As a young man, he has black hair and dark eyes 4 48.
- Wears a pendant bearing a symbol associated with the Noytem royal family 41 42.
- Usually carries a sword at his waist 11 41 42.
Personality
Noil is quick to joke, tease opponents, and stage dramatic entrances, though his attempts to look imposing do not always go to plan. He is also protective of Bellemere, Nami, Nojiko, and the people of Cocoyasi; his knowledge of their possible future gives his training a specific purpose 3 7 9 12.
He chooses pirate hunting because he dislikes predatory pirates but refuses to serve the World Government. He can be ruthless toward enemies such as Kenbula and Wapol, while showing patience and compassion toward people he considers friends, including Ace, Chopper, and Robin 6 12 20 39 49.
Abilities & Skills
Talent Copy System
The system lets Noil inspect and copy other people’s talents using Copy Cards. It also rewards his involvement with important people and events 1 2.
- Copied abilities include combat aptitudes, learned traits, and Devil Fruit powers; copying a power does not grant its original user’s training or mastery 3 6.
- Otherworldly Guest cannot be removed and gives him knowledge of the story and its important figures 1.
- After its upgrade, the system can store replaced talents for later retrieval and fuse talents. Retrieval has a three-month cooldown, while a fused talent becomes permanent 28 41.
Swordsmanship
Noil trains with a single sword and prefers One-Sword Style. He learns the Flying Heaven Imperial Sword Style, can launch flying slashes, and develops his technique further through a duel with Mihawk 16 17 40 41.
- Breaks Hachi’s six swords with one draw slash 9.
- Uses Nine-Headed Dragon Flash against Mihawk, who counters every strike 40.
- His fused Supreme Swordsman talent strengthens his swordsmanship and physical abilities while fighting with a blade 41.
Haki
Noil uses Armament, Observation, and Conqueror’s Haki 15.
- Armament: Hardens his body and weapons, allowing him to withstand attacks and strike Devil Fruit users. He later projects it outward to shield a group from Enel’s lightning 8 9 24 46.
- Observation: Senses nearby presences and incoming danger, though his early readings require concentration and can be hazy 13 17.
- Conqueror’s: Knocks out groups of weaker opponents; by Whiskey Peak, he can unleash it deliberately 18 27.
Copied Devil Fruit Powers
Noil can hold multiple copied Devil Fruit abilities. The system treats a fruit’s power separately from its user’s seawater weakness, but powers copied from living holders have reduced training speed and potential 6 20.
- Bear-Bear Fruit: Gives him a bear-man form; later replaced in his active talents 6 48.
- Flame-Flame Fruit: Lets him become and produce fire, including a copied Fire Fist attack 20 22 29.
- Clone-Clone Fruit: Lets him imitate another person’s appearance; he uses it to deceive Paula and Crocodile 32.
- Sand-Sand Fruit: Lets him turn into sand and use sand-based attacks, although Crocodile’s greater mastery initially puts him at a disadvantage 32 34.
- Rumble-Rumble Fruit: Copies Enel’s lightning ability in place of the Bear-Bear Fruit 48.
Other Techniques and Skills
- Fish-Man Karate and Fish-Man Jujutsu: Uses water currents as attacks, proving especially effective against sea beasts underwater 10 17.
- Amaterasu Flame: A system-awarded black flame that can cover his body and burn chosen targets on contact, but cannot be projected at range 18 34.
- Climate Super-Sense: Senses changes in the air and helps him navigate while sailing 3 12.
- Cooking: His knife work and fish dish impress the Baratie cooks, Zeff, and Sanji 22.
Equipment, Weapons & Items
- Demon Moro — his cursed Famous Sword. It grows stronger with his Haki, repairs itself through blood, and drains stamina and mental energy from those it wounds; it replaces Qingxing as his preferred weapon 41 48.
- Qingxing — a Skillful Grade Blade taken from pirate captain Yuke and later kept in a sword case 14 41.
- St. Poplar — Arlong’s abandoned ship, refitted by Cocoyasi villagers for Noil’s first pirate-hunting voyage 12.
- Ark Maxim — Enel’s flying ship, remodeled into a smaller vessel for Noil’s crew; its flight still requires electrical power 49 50.
- Pendant — carried since his arrival in the world and identified by Robin as bearing a Noytem royal symbol 1 42.
- Eternal Pose to Xiting Island — given to him by Mihawk as a lead toward Sky Island 41.
Relationships

- Nojiko — adoptive younger sister who admires him and supports his ambitions 3 7 15.
- Nami — adoptive younger sister; she trusts him to protect Cocoyasi and later stows away on one of his hunts 8 13.
- Genzo — Cocoyasi’s village policeman, whose fighting talent Noil copies and whose life he saves during Arlong’s attack 3 8.
- Niwan and Niman — pirate hunters who become his swordsmanship disciples and companions; they remain behind to help protect Cocoyasi when he leaves for the Grand Line 11 12 15.
- Shanks — saves Noil from surviving Savage Bear Pirates; their friendship brings Noil major system rewards 6 7.
- Ace — friend and temporary traveling companion. Noil gives him the Flame-Flame Fruit, and they part at Twin Cape promising to meet again 17 20 26.

- Dracule Mihawk — swordsman and friendly rival whose duel, advice, and talents advance Noil’s swordsmanship 40 41.
- Wyper — Shandian warrior who agrees to serve Noil if he defeats Enel; he later joins the crew 47 50.
