Doc Q chuckled. "I've been waiting a long time too. I can't wait to see who becomes commander of the First Division."

Hawkins looked as gloomy as ever, his face like a corpse's. "There aren't enough people yet. We'll hold the fight once we enter the Grand Line."

Burgess bristled at that. "Damn it! None of you wants to fight. Are you even men?"

"Forget it. I'm not asking again. Do whatever you want!" He turned and stormed off.

A mysterious smile hung on Doc Q's weathered face. "What a shame. I really wanted to watch the crew tear into each other."

Lafitte twirled his cane and smiled faintly. "Luo, like you, won't enter the Division Commander Challenge for now."

"That may be for the best. Once we have more crew members, we can hold the First Mate Challenge and the Division Commander Challenge together."

"As for the Captain Challenge, that goes without saying."

Lafitte planted his cane before him. A rare seriousness crossed his pale face. "The Chris Pirates can have only one captain: Chris. There's no question about it!"

The more Lafitte learned about Chris, the more thoroughly he came to admire and respect him.

If anyone dared challenge Chris's authority or show him disrespect,

Lafitte would be the first to object!

"Anyone who enters the Captain Challenge will be killed."

Luo spoke coldly, then walked off to the side, as aloof as ever.

Hawkins nodded. "Chance of failure in battle: one hundred percent."

"I've never encountered odds like that before."

"That alone shows just how strong Captain Chris is."

Lafitte gave a polite, gentlemanly smile.

"Now, let me tell you about the other matters."

"Our future route, and what we intend to do afterward..."

(I saw someone mention the Gravity-Gravity Fruit in the comments, but there's no need for it. Repulsion outward produces Shinra Tensei. Reverse the repulsion, and you get Universal Pull. So there's no reason to eat the Gravity-Gravity Fruit. The Repel-Repel Fruit doesn't just repel—it can attract things too. (* ̄︶ ̄))

Five days later.

Marine Headquarters, Marineford.

Quite a few officers sat in the spacious conference room.

"Let's begin!"

Sengoku sat straight-backed, his expression stern. "Brannew, hand out the files."

"Yes, Lord Sengoku!"

Brannew was a capable assistant. He worked neatly and efficiently, and soon everyone had a copy.

Sengoku looked around at the officers. "The seas have been unsettled lately. A great deal has happened."

"The Four Emperors entrenched in the New World keep expanding their territories and recruiting followers. They have no regard for the Marines."

"And the Shichibukai? That scum of the seas has been restless too."

Sengoku tapped the desk. "Dracule Mihawk does as he pleases. Donquixote Doflamingo conducts underground deals..."

"But our most pressing concern is the queen of Amazon Lily, Boa Hancock!"

"Brannew, brief everyone on Boa Hancock's recent activities."

Brannew nodded respectfully. "Yes, Lord Sengoku!"

He turned to the assembled officers. "Three days ago, Boa Hancock led the citizens of Amazon Lily into the Grand Line."

"A series of battles followed."

"The demon Rael Jun, with a bounty of eighty-three million Beli; Black Iron, with a bounty of thirty-seven million Beli; a pirate with a bounty of eleven million..."

Brannew read out several names in succession. He had clearly done his homework.

"We contacted her and asked why she was doing this."

"After all, Boa Hancock has always stayed in the Calm Belt. She has never sailed this far before."

Brannew looked around the room. "She said she was headed for the New World. She gave no answer as to why."

Sengoku took over. "She isn't merely a Shichibukai. She's also the most beautiful woman in the world."

"If she enters the New World, the seas are bound to erupt. That isn't what we want."

Sengoku addressed the officers. "She's a Shichibukai, and she claims she's hunting pirates. That leaves us little grounds to challenge her."

"Now, let's discuss why Boa Hancock has begun acting so strangely."

Sakazuki's gaze hardened. "Do we really need this many people to discuss one Boa Hancock?"

"Shichibukai? They're damned pirates—the most detestable trash on the seas!"

Borsalino lounged in his chair with his legs crossed, clipping his nails without a care in the world.

"The Shichibukai are getting awfully scary these days, aren't they?"

Sengoku glanced at the two of them and ignored their remarks.

He disliked them both intensely.

Sakazuki was too hard-line, clinging to a twisted sense of justice.

Borsalino spent his days doing nothing, lazy as a dog.

"Hahaha! Forget all that for a moment, Sengoku. Want a doughnut?"

Garp stuffed food into his mouth, grinning broadly.

He had ruined the gravity of the meeting in an instant.

"Damn you, Garp!"

Sengoku glared at him. "Who said you could eat doughnuts in here, huh?"

Doberman looked around the room. "Admiral Sakazuki is right. Those Shichibukai are scum of the seas, every last one of them."

"They aren't worth our time discussing."

"If they go too far, we should uphold Absolute Justice and throw the lot of them into Impel Down."

He served under Sakazuki and was fiercely loyal to him. Naturally, he had a forceful personality.

A hawk through and through!

He was immensely powerful. During the Paramount War, he had been the only Vice Admiral bold enough to berate one of the Four Emperors.

Only Doberman would have dared.

"Exactly. Every Shichibukai is trash. Why should we discuss them?"

Onigumo spoke firmly around the cigarette in his mouth. "The Marines are the strongest force on the seas. We should wipe out Shichibukai scum altogether."

"I stand firmly with Admiral Sakazuki. There's no reason to waste time discussing them."

Like Doberman, he was a staunch hawk.

"That's right. Admiral Sakazuki is right. Let's stop talking about them."

The other hawkish officers hurried to voice their agreement.

It showed just how much support Sakazuki commanded as the leader of the hawks.

One call from him, and they all answered!

The dovish officers turned to Kuzan, hoping he would speak up.

Their opponent was Sakazuki, the leading hawk. None of them dared speak themselves.

They could only rely on the leader of their own faction—Admiral Kuzan!

"Why are you all looking at me? Fleet Admiral Sengoku said to discuss it, didn't he?"

Kuzan rolled his neck and yawned. "I went to bed too late last night. I'm exhausted. I'll take a nap first."

He pulled the sleep mask down over his eyes, leaned back in his chair, and promptly fell asleep.

The dovish officers exchanged helpless looks.

That was simply how the man they supported behaved. He was hopelessly laid-back.

They were used to it by now and could hardly complain.

Sengoku glanced at Kuzan and decided he couldn't be bothered to scold him.

Of the Three Admirals, Kuzan was the one he held in highest regard.

Unfortunately, the man was so lazy that he never seemed to care about anything. Every day, he looked ready to fall asleep.

It gave Sengoku no end of headaches.

In truth, all three admirals had their problems. Not one of them was normal.

(You don't need an introduction to the man above. Chris will kill him later. Here's a picture to remember him by; it's the least I can do for him. ︿( ̄︶ ̄)︿)

"I'll share my thoughts."

Staff Officer Tsuru rested her chin on her hands, intelligence glinting in her eyes.

One look told you she was a shrewd old woman.

The moment she spoke, hawks and doves alike turned toward her.

They all respected her deeply.

Her wisdom had earned their admiration!

"Got some brilliant insight for us, Tsuru? Let's hear it."

Garp laughed heartily as he ate his doughnut.

Staff Officer Tsuru did not look at him. "Boa Hancock is an exceptionally proud woman."

"She's already famous enough. She has nothing to prove."

"So hunting pirates to make a name for herself isn't her goal."

"And she certainly isn't clearing out wanted criminals because she wants to help the Marines."

Tsuru folded her arms. "That leaves only one answer: she wants to grow stronger."

"She'll enter the New World next and pick fights with powerful opponents."

"After all, the women of Amazon Lily love battle. They'd never be content sitting idle."

Garp slapped the table and laughed. "Brilliant! Absolutely brilliant!"

"Tsuru, you're as sharp as ever. Hahaha!"

Sengoku ignored Garp and nodded in agreement.

"Staff Officer Tsuru makes a good point. It seems Boa Hancock has something else in mind."

"She urgently wants to improve her strength."

"As for her ultimate goal, we'll have to keep tracking her to find out."

Borsalino lounged with his legs crossed, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "Women these days are frightening."

Sakazuki's gaze was unwavering. "All the more reason not to stand by and do nothing."

"I propose we bring her to justice in the name of Absolute Justice!"

The other hawkish officers nodded and quickly voiced their support.
