Chris looked at Belo Betty, his gaze unwavering, and said one word at a time, "How can we let a world this rotten go on?"

"Did you hear? Kangshun nearly got into trouble yesterday."

"No. What happened?"

"I know about that. His fleet strayed into that cursed stretch of sea and was nearly attacked by Sea Kings."

"That island again. We really can't sail that way anymore."

"You can say that again."

Baccarat had just returned to the harbor with some cosmetics when she overheard the passersby.

An idea flashed through her mind, and she hurried over to ask them.

"Excuse me, where is that island you're talking about?"

The passersby stopped talking.

Some ignored Baccarat and walked away.

At last, a middle-aged man pointed northwest and patiently explained, "Sail that way. You'll reach it in less than half a day."

"It's dangerous there, with Sea Kings everywhere. You'd best stay away."

With that, he paid Baccarat no further attention and hurried after his companions.

Baccarat gazed northwest. All she could see was the blue sea, with no sign of an island.

I'll tell Chris in a bit. Looks like we've got a new adventure ahead.

Baccarat headed straight for the ship.

Aboard the Chris.

"Captain, why's our new crewmate a woman?"

Burgess looked at the beautiful woman in red before him and shrugged, apparently unimpressed.

Doc Q still lay on the ground, barely clinging to life. "The captain chose her... There must be something special about her."

Leaning against the railing, Chris ignored them and made the introduction.

"She's our new crewmate, Belo Betty, a Paramecia Devil Fruit User with the power to inspire others!"

Belo Betty looked at Doc Q, took a drag on her cigarette, and said, "What's with him? He looks like he's about to die of illness."

"Welcome aboard..."

Baccarat approached with graceful steps and a gentle smile. "With you here, I won't be so bored anymore."

Belo Betty glanced at the poised, elegant woman, exhaled a plume of smoke, and gave her a cool look.

"You're Baccarat, the Lucky-Lucky Fruit User, right?"

On the way back, Chris had told her about Baccarat's ability, and she had been stunned.

She had never imagined such an extraordinary Devil Fruit existed.

It was incredible!

Just then, Chris raised his voice.

"Crew, count everyone in. Get ready to set sail!"

"Yes, Captain Chris!"

Everyone sprang into action.

Some hauled up the anchor; others unfurled the sails...

Baccarat looked at Chris, smoothed her dark red hair, and smiled warmly. "Chris, let's head northwest first!"

"Did you find something, Baccarat?"

Burgess's interest flared, and he rushed to ask her.

Chris said nothing. He watched Baccarat quietly, waiting for her answer.

"I overheard some people talking. Sea Kings have been lingering near an island to the northwest."

"My instincts tell me we'll find good fortune there."

Baccarat smiled, calm and gracious.

She showed no sign of seeking credit!

Chris was a decisive man. He immediately shouted an order.

"Set sail! Head northwest!"

"Got it..."

The ship changed course and sped toward its destination.

Burgess threw up his arms and laughed wildly. "What incredible thing could be on that island? Wahahahaha..."

"I'm looking forward to it, cough, cough..." For once, excitement appeared on Doc Q's weathered face.

Beli leaned back in her chair with her legs crossed, exhaled a puff of smoke, and remarked casually.

"I've barely come aboard, and something this interesting has already happened. Not bad!"

"I'm off to train. Call me if anything happens."

With that, Chris headed straight for the training room.

Baccarat looked at Belo Betty with a bright smile. "Betty, let's go watch Chris train."

"Sure. I'd like to learn more about our captain."

The two followed Chris, chatting and laughing as they went.

Burgess shook his head and sighed. "The captain's incredibly gifted, but he still trains this hard. That's scary!"

Doc Q coughed. "The captain's aiming high... I'm looking forward to this crew's future more and more."

Six hours later.

"Report..."

An alarm rang out from the lookout platform, loud and clear.

"Island ahead! Island ahead..."

The cry was repeated several times.

"We've reached our destination? Wahahahaha..."

Burgess strode to the railing and raised both arms in delight.

Seated in his chair, Doc Q said slowly, "I doubt we're picking up a new crewmate. It's probably a Devil Fruit."

Footsteps approached, followed by Chris's voice.

"Whatever it is, we'll find out when we go ashore."

Belo Betty looked ahead. The island was lush and thick with vegetation.

"With Sea Kings nearby, I doubt anyone has set foot on that island in a long time."

That gave Burgess pause.

He turned to Chris and asked, "Captain, what do we do if the Sea Kings show up?"

"If we run into creatures that big out at sea, I honestly don't know how we'll handle them."

"Report..."

A terrified cry suddenly came from the lookout platform.

"This is bad! Monsters up ahead..."

Sure enough, waves surged across the sea, and dark shapes crowded beneath the surface.

Huge creatures swam rapidly toward them, one after another.

At the sight, everyone panicked.

"We're done for! The monsters are coming..."

"Captain, turn the ship around, quick..."

"I'm gonna die, and I haven't even gotten married yet!"

"Those Sea Kings are huge! Aaaah..."

Burgess was brave, but even he grew afraid at the sight of so many dark shapes.

"Captain, are we really going straight through? Isn't that too dangerous?"

Doc Q shook his head and sighed. "At that size, even poison would have a hard time killing them."

ROAR!

A thunderous roar suddenly rang out.

A swarm of monsters broke the surface.

Some were giant snakes, some had feline faces, and others resembled crabs...

Their icy gazes fixed on the Chris.

They looked ready to attack at any moment.

The more timid crew members could no longer stay on their feet.

Some collapsed onto the deck, some burst into tears, and others crouched with their hands over their heads...

"Chris, there's still time to get away."

Belo Betty could no longer remain calm. Frowning, she said quickly, "If this many Sea Kings attack, then..."

She left the sentence unfinished, but everyone understood.

"Let's retreat, Captain."

Burgess wiped the cold sweat from his forehead, his face full of fear.

"Those Sea Kings are enormous. If even one comes down on us, it could capsize the whole ship."

Suddenly, the Sea Kings roared in unison and surged forward like lightning.

They charged straight at the Chris.

They loomed over it like mountains about to fall.

It was terrifying!

"Aaah..."

Screams erupted from every corner of the ship.

Despair seized everyone. They were finished.
