One Piece: I Can Repel Anything

"Captain, what do we do...?"

Burgess and the others all turned to Chris, shouting in alarm.

Chris ignored them and took a step forward.

His gaze sharpened.

"Get lost..."

An overwhelmingly terrifying presence erupted from him.

The air trembled, faint ripples spreading through it.

Silence.

The whole world fell silent.

Every Sea King froze.

Cold sweat ran down their enormous heads.

They looked at Chris with terror in their eyes.

Splash!

Water churned as the Sea Kings plunged into the sea and fled.

"Keep moving!"

Chris stood with his back to the others and called out.

The entire ship erupted in astonishment.

"Long live Captain Chris!"

"With the captain here, I'm not afraid of a damn thing! Let's go..."

"That was incredible! Captain, you're unbelievably strong..."

"'Get lost'... Captain, that was so cool! Aah!"

"Captain Chris, I'll follow you for the rest of my life! Sob..."

Burgess stared at Chris's back. The longer he looked, the more he admired him, until he burst out laughing.

"So that's the Conqueror's Haki the captain told us about. It really is powerful! Wehahaha..."

For once, Doc Q looked genuinely respectful. He even stopped coughing as he smiled and said, "That's our captain for you. I'm convinced."

Baccarat silently watched that imposing figure, an unreadable glint in her eyes.

Belo Betty turned to Burgess and asked curiously, "You said that was Conqueror's Haki. Is that what Chris just used?"

"The captain told us there are three kinds of Haki in this world."

Burgess eagerly launched into an explanation.

"Anyone can train in the first two. The third, Conqueror's Haki, depends on what you're born with."

"The captain said Conqueror's Haki is incredibly rare. Only one person in a million has it."

Burgess gazed at Chris's back in open admiration. "I thought the captain was just talking."

"Turns out he's even stronger than I imagined! Wehahaha..."

Doc Q nodded, his expression solemn.

"The captain is one of a kind. We can't compare."

"With a boss like him, our names will spread across the seas. Cough, cough..."

Belo Betty knitted her brows and murmured, "Conqueror's Haki..."

"To think such a powerful force exists in this world. It's unbelievable."

She looked at Chris and smiled faintly, overcome with emotion.

No wonder Chris dares to change the world. He really does have the strength.

I'm sticking with you as my captain. I can't wait for the day you defeat the Celestial Dragons.

Baccarat smiled, her voice full of certainty. "When I chose Chris, I knew exactly what I was doing."

"He's no ordinary man. He's destined to make a name for himself."

"And now I know I made the right choice."

By then, everyone aboard had given Chris their wholehearted loyalty. He was truly their captain...

The Chris slowly pulled up to the island's shore.

"Judging by the look of things, no one's visited this island in a long time."

Belo Betty surveyed the towering trees and flowers and grasses she couldn't name. In such an overgrown place, it wasn't hard to reach that conclusion.

"So the adventure begins? I'm looking forward to it."

Burgess laughed, his face alight with excitement.

"Let's take a look!"

Chris jumped down onto the ground.

"There's a big rock over there. Let's go see it!" Baccarat said with a bright smile, pointing into the distance.

Roar!

A sound suddenly came from deep within the island.

A tiger sprang out, its eyes cold and its sharp teeth gleaming.

It was hunting for a meal.

"I might not be able to handle Sea Kings, but you're another story."

Burgess sneered, kicked off the ground like an arrow loosed from a bow, and punched the enormous tiger.

Bang! The tiger gave a pained cry, collapsed, and passed out.

"Captain Burgess is amazing!"

The underlings applauded and cheered.

Chris paid Burgess's fight no attention. He walked straight to the boulder.

A treasure lay within, waiting for one destined to claim it.

The carved words were bold and forceful, carrying a keen sword aura.

"Why do those words feel so sharp? It's like looking at needles."

Belo Betty glanced at the writing on the boulder, then quickly looked away, unable to bear another look.

Baccarat nodded in agreement. "I felt it too. Whoever carved those words must be remarkable."

"That person's swordsmanship must have been formidable," Doc Q said with conviction.

"They were a Great Swordsman."

With that answer, Chris headed deeper into the island.

Burgess couldn't have cared less about the rest. Grinning, he said, "I don't care who carved it. The treasure's what matters."

Belo Betty looked at Baccarat, admiration showing on her delicate face.

"You called it. We really did find some good luck here."

Baccarat smiled, her voice melodious. "Let's hope the treasure's worth the trip."

The group continued slowly into the island...

After an unknown stretch of time, they passed through the brush and trees, and the view ahead opened up.

Beyond a broad clearing stood an ancient Palace.

"There really is treasure! Wehahaha..."

The moment they saw the building, everyone understood what it meant.

Smiles spread across their faces, their expectations soaring.

Then a voice came from the Palace ahead.

"This is my territory. You're not allowed near it."

The voice wasn't loud. It sounded young and was pleasant to hear.

Everyone froze.

Everyone except Chris stared in shock.

"What was that?"

Belo Betty exhaled a puff of smoke and looked around, but saw nothing unusual.

Baccarat smiled. "Judging by the voice, it should be a small animal."

"A talking animal. How interesting."

Doc Q lay atop Strong, wearing a strange smile.

Chris walked forward and said evenly, "Little one, you're quite strong. Come out to sea with me."

"There's plenty of delicious food out there, and all sorts of fun things. Don't you want to see them?"

Whoosh!

A small animal leaped in front of the Palace and asked curiously, "Is it really fun out there? Can you take me with you?"

He was a young tanuki in a pink shirt and blue trousers, with an enormous pale-gold tail.

It was Pato.

"Oh!"

Baccarat's eyes lit up when she saw Pato. "A little tanuki! He's adorable."

Belo Betty lowered her sunglasses and gave the small animal a look, clearly unimpressed.

"After all that, he's just a young tanuki."

Burgess laughed loudly. "Captain, this little guy can talk! He's no ordinary animal!"

Chris stopped in front of Pato, his expression calm. "The world outside is more exciting than you can imagine. You'll see when you get there."

"If you ever want to leave and come back here, I'll bring you back."

With that, he left Pato alone and headed straight for the Palace entrance.

Pato's little eyes lit up. Brimming with excitement, he bounced after Chris, his voice bright and clear.

"Boss, don't leave me behind! You have to take me with you..."

"It's so boring here! I want to go out to sea and have fun and eat lots of delicious food! Heehee!"

Belo Betty shrugged and turned to Baccarat. "Your Devil Fruit power really is incredible."

"With you around, everything Chris does goes smoothly. Nothing gives him any trouble."

Burgess nodded in agreement.

"Baccarat's power is unbelievable. Whatever the captain does, luck's on his side."

Doc Q coughed as he spoke. "That little animal would be worth studying. Fascinating."

"Doc Q, don't even think about it."

Baccarat glared at him and snapped, "He's so cute. If you end up treating him to death, you'll have me to answer to."
