The moment they heard him, everyone grew interested. They dropped what they were doing and hurried over.

Burgess was the most impatient. "How much? Come on, tell me how big my bounty is!"

Luo was as aloof as ever. "I'm more curious about the captain's bounty."

"That much? A hundred million Beli!"

Gin stared at the newspaper. Shock broke through his usual cold expression, as though he had seen a ghost.

It was staggering.

He could hardly believe it.

In the East Blue, the highest bounties were only twenty or thirty million Beli.

But their captain had received a hundred-million-Beli bounty on his very first posting.

It was unbelievable.

"That's our captain. He really is one of a kind."

Hawkins nodded. "As far as I know, no one in the four seas has ever received a hundred-million-Beli bounty on their first posting."

Burgess threw both arms up, beside himself with excitement.

"My bounty's fifty million Beli! Fifty million on my first posting! Wahahahaha!"

Doc Q looked at the newspaper and gave a mysterious smile, his weathered face creasing. "Mine's even higher. Seventy million Beli."

"Does that mean I'm stronger than all of you? Heh heh heh."

Luo gave a cold laugh. "You're forgetting Lafitte."

"Our First Mate's bounty is eighty-five million Beli. That's fifteen million more than yours."

Gin ignored their conversation. He shook his head, full of admiration. "You're strong. Every last one of you."

"Captain Chris has a hundred million. Then there's over eighty million, and everyone else has tens of millions."

"Put it all together, and it's already over four hundred million."

Gin looked at them excitedly. "Four hundred million! Do you realize what that means? The bounties on every pirate in the East Blue combined don't come close to ours."

"I'm going to learn from you. I'm going to get stronger and earn a bounty that high too!"

Resolve showed on Gin's dark face as he made his declaration.

At that moment, Gin was glad he had joined them. With people like these around him, he was sure he could grow stronger.

He could go further and spread his name across the entire sea...

(Everyone, the picture above is of Onigumo. In case you didn't know who he was, I went and found it for you. Also, a hundred million for a first bounty is perfectly reasonable. It isn't too high. ︿( ̄︶ ̄)︿)

"Come on. Let's tell our captain the good news."

Lafitte smiled, took the newspaper, and headed straight for the Training Room.

Burgess glared at Doc Q, indignant. "Your bounty's actually higher than mine? Damn it!"

"You two haven't fought, but judging by your faces, you're no match for him."

Hawkins delivered his verdict in a low voice, then walked aside to resume training.

Doc Q looked at Burgess with an unpleasant grin. "Hear that? You're no match for me. Heh heh."

Burgess glared at Hawkins's retreating back and roared, "Hawkins, quit going on about people's faces, damn you!"

"When a man wants to make a point, he uses his fists, not fate or whatever else!"

"You're so good at fortune-telling? Then tell me: could you beat me?"

Luo held Kikoku in his arms. "You're no match for him. There's no doubt about it."

Burgess flew into a rage. He raised his right fist and issued a challenge.

"You too! Strutting around every day with that sour face—who are you trying to impress?"

"If you've got the guts, let's find an island and fight. The loser keeps his damn mouth shut."

Hawkins's voice came from the side. "Luo, his bounty has gone to his head. He's lost his reason."

"Bear with him a little longer. Once we enter the Grand Line, we'll show him what we can do."

Luo nodded in agreement.

Then he looked at Burgess, his gaze razor-sharp. "Remember what you said today. Don't forget it."

"Get stronger before we enter the Grand Line. Otherwise, I might just kill you."

With that, he walked over to Hawkins, and they trained together.

Bepo sat fishing by the railing and called out encouragement. "Captain... Oh, no. Sir, you can do it!"

Pato held a fishing rod and swished his tail. "How many times have I told you? Chris is the only captain of this ship."

"You can't keep getting it wrong, or you'll be punished. Hee hee."

Bepo nodded his huge head and smiled. "I'm working on it. Soon it'll come naturally. Yeah, yeah..."

Luo's words had left Burgess furious. "Damn it! You all think I'm beneath you?"

"Fine! Once we get to the Grand Line, I'll beat you so badly you won't know what hit you. If I don't, I'll take your names!"

Doc Q gave him a strange smile. "Big words. But can you back them up, Burgess?"

"That Laser Cannon of yours is trash against me. Could you even hit me?"

"If I wanted to, I could poison you to death in no time. Heh heh."

Gin looked at them coldly. "You all seem to have forgotten about me. I'll get stronger too—strong enough that you'll have to look up to me."

"On this ship, the captain's the only one I'll acknowledge as my superior."

"You're stronger than me now, sure. But I'll work harder than any of you, and I'll surpass you all."

He walked off to the side and began training his endurance.

Burgess was about to speak when Lafitte's voice rang out.

"You're all quite fired up."

Lafitte twirled his cane. "I look forward to your challenges. I've got the First Mate's position ready for you."

With Lafitte there, Burgess said no more. He strode to the railing and threw himself into training.

Inside the Training Room.

"Quick, quick! See how big Chris's bounty is." Honey Queen looked at Baccarat, anticipation written all over her face.

Belo Betty took a drag on her cigarette. For once, curiosity showed on her face. "It ought to be high. Anything less wouldn't reflect Chris's strength."

Reiju rested her chin on one hand and smiled gently. "Don't rush. Let's look together."

"Wow!"

Floating in the air, Perona was the first to spot the figure. Shock filled her face. "A hundred million..."

Carina thought she had misread it. She checked twice, then stared in surprise. "That's terrifying. How could it be so high?"

Nami was the most stunned of all.

She stared blankly at the newspaper, her lips parted. She was speechless.

"A hundred million..."

She murmured the amount again.

When she finally came to her senses, she shook her head. "That's frightening. It's unbelievable."

"In the East Blue—no, in my whole life—I've never heard of a bounty this high."

"Is that even possible for a person?"

"I can't believe it. It really scared me!"

Honey Queen spun toward the figure ahead of them, beaming with excitement. "Chris, your wanted poster is out!"

"A hundred million Beli!"

"That's right. You heard me—a hundred million Beli!"

Chris did not turn around. He kept practicing his swordsmanship. "I know."

The women exchanged glances, then shook their heads. None of them knew what to say.

Honey Queen felt it most keenly. She had been so excited and proud when she told him.

Yet Chris had barely reacted. He was as calm as ever.

"I give up. I really don't know what to say."

Honey Queen sighed and smiled wryly. "Here I am, bursting with excitement, and he doesn't bat an eye. What am I supposed to do with that?"

Belo Betty shrugged and exhaled a puff of smoke. "It's fine. I'm used to it."

"We're the ones making too much of it."

Carina grinned. "Chris is going to be the strongest someday. A hundred-million-Beli bounty is nothing to him."

Perona darted through the air, nodding repeatedly. "Exactly, exactly! Horo horo horo..."

"That may be true, but it's a hundred million Beli! He could at least look a little surprised."

Nami could not wrap her head around it. What kind of person was Chris? Surely he could show a little emotion.

"I guess I just haven't seen enough of the world. I'm getting worked up over nothing."

Reiju looked at Nami, her eyes bright, and smiled. "That's not it."

"Chris has always been like this. He's calm and rational. Whatever happens, he takes it in stride and doesn't let the outside world sway him."

"When you look at it that way, it's a wonderful strength to have."

"I believe all truly strong people are like Chris."

"So there's no need for us to find it strange. It's no big deal."

(I see you're discussing Hancock's strength, but there's really not much to say. Crocodile is definitely stronger than her. Come to think of it, Crocodile lost because of the protagonist's plot armor. He isn't much weaker than Doflamingo. ︿( ̄︶ ̄)︿)

Inside the Palace of Dressrosa Kingdom.

"The newspaper's here!"

Viola approached the family officers with graceful steps, the newspaper in her hand.

Trebol sniffled and laughed. "Bring it over! Doflamingo's been waiting ages. Beh heh heh!"

"It's the same old news every day. What's worth reading?"

Pica's shrill voice grated on their ears.

Diamante watched Viola approach. "Viola, your outfit looks lovely today."

Viola set the newspaper in front of Doflamingo, then turned to Diamante with a smile.

"Diamante, you're looking well today."

Diamante waved his hands modestly. "No, no, you flatter me. I'm only feeling so-so today. I wouldn't say I'm doing especially well."

Viola nodded, feigning realization. "Oh, I must have been mistaken. I thought you were looking well."

"Well, if you insist, I'll admit it."

Diamante nodded earnestly. "I do look well today. I'm in an excellent mood."
