The soldier froze at those words.
He glanced at Ochoku and saw that his expression had indeed turned cold.
The soldier broke into a sweat.
If he caused Ochoku to refuse to help, wouldn't he become the greatest sinner in the Pudora Kingdom's history?
The lead soldier hurriedly forced an awkward smile. "Senior Ochoku, we'll be on our way."
"We won't disturb you any longer."
With that, he rushed out and respectfully shut the door of the Thatch Hut behind him.
The entire squad left on tiptoe, not daring to make a sound.
Inside the Thatch Hut, Miss Bakkin picked up the newspaper and skimmed through it.
She glanced at the front-page headline and raised an eyebrow. "So the fighting starts today."
"It's been a long time since I last saw you in action, Ochoku!"
Ochoku took the newspaper and looked it over, his expression calm. "This paper is rather interesting."
"It mentions several of them!"
Miss Bakkin leaned over and read the rest of the article carefully.
"Interesting," she murmured.
In the Thatch Hut, Weevil was still eating like an emotionless machine.
Even though Ochoku had deliberately prepared a great deal of extra food for him, it still didn't look like enough.
Ochoku watched Weevil wolf down his meal and smiled. "Kid, you've nearly eaten through all my stores these past two days!"
"At this rate, today's food won't be enough."
"Once you've finished eating, go hunt in the mountains. Bring back plenty of game."
"When we get back from the battlefield tonight, we'll have a proper feast!"
There was something remarkably down-to-earth about Ochoku.
Anyone who didn't know who he really was would have taken him for an ordinary hunter.
No outsider would have guessed that this unassuming man was the famous Ochoku!
