Chapter 12
Above a stretch of sea in the West Blue.
Two figures shot through the air at astonishing speed.
"What kind of power is this?"
Momousagi stared at the sea racing past beneath them, stunned.
She had never heard of speed like this.
It had to be the fastest in the world!
"I ate the Repel-Repel Fruit. This is an ability I developed. I call it Repulsion Space!"
As soon as Chris finished speaking, they landed on an island.
It was Pato's home.
Momousagi looked at the ancient palace before her and the towering trees all around it. She couldn't help asking,
"Where are we?"
The man before her seemed more mysterious than ever.
What a frightening young man!
Chris shrugged. "An uninhabited island. We can fight here without holding back."
"If you want to work with me, you'll have to prove you're strong enough."
Momousagi drew Kompira. Its blade gleamed coldly in the sunlight.
She sneered. "Your speed is terrifying, I'll give you that."
"But that's all it is."
Roar!
A beast roared in the distance. The ground trembled as it approached.
"Before we fight, let's clear away the distractions."
He unleashed Conqueror's Haki. Cries of distress rose nearby.
Every animal that sensed that terrifying presence fled.
Momousagi was shaken, but her expression did not change. "No wonder you dared challenge the Celestial Dragons. You certainly have the nerve."
"Now show me what you can really do!"
She kicked off the ground and charged at Chris, sword in hand...
Ten minutes later.
"Want to keep going?"
Chris stood calmly, looking entirely untroubled.
Momousagi sheathed Kompira. Disbelief showed on her face. "To be this powerful at such a young age..."
"It seems the world really is about to change."
Then she looked at Chris, her expression grave. "The Celestial Dragons have ruled the seas for years. No one has ever dared resist them."
"Our strength alone isn't enough to shake this world. We can't change anything."
"So tell me what you're planning. I'd like to hear it."
Hearing that, Chris knew he had succeeded.
The Headquarters Vice Admiral and Admiral candidate had agreed to work with him.
"Let's get back to the warship before anyone notices."
They traveled through space again and soon returned to Momousagi's room.
Looking around at the familiar surroundings, Momousagi shook her head. "Even Borsalino's light-speed movement can't compare to yours."
"Enough small talk. Let's discuss what comes next."
Click.
Chris lit a cigarette and answered without hesitation.
"First, let's talk about your side."
"Once you return, win over as many of your subordinates as you can. They'll be invaluable in the battles ahead."
Momousagi nodded. "No problem. I'll handle that carefully."
Chris exhaled a stream of smoke and moved to his second point.
"You're an Admiral candidate now. We need to find a way to remove the word 'candidate.'"
He looked at Momousagi earnestly. "Only as an Admiral can you help us as much as we need."
Momousagi's delicate brows drew together.
"All three Admiral positions are filled. I have no chance of promotion. I can't do that."
Chris nodded in understanding and gave her the answer.
"Then we kill one of them. Once there's a vacancy, your chance will come."
"What?!"
Momousagi was stunned.
Her eyes widened. Thinking she had misheard, she asked, "What are you talking about? How could that be possible?"
"Why wouldn't it be?"
Chris took a drag on his cigarette. "The Admirals are the Marines' greatest fighting force. They're the strongest."
"No one has ever killed an Admiral. No one has been capable of it."
"But I think we can do it if we find the right opportunity."
Momousagi fell silent. She still could not believe what Chris was saying.
Hunt down an Admiral? How could that be possible?
Could anyone really do it?
After a few seconds, she said slowly, "If you're proposing it, you must have a detailed plan. Let's hear it."
"Let's look at the Three Admirals."
Chris took a drag on his cigarette, his eyes sharp with thought. "Borsalino is too fast. He'd be hard to catch, so our odds aren't good."
"Kuzan can freeze the sea. Whether he fights on land or at sea makes no difference to him."
Chris looked at Momousagi. "That leaves Sakazuki as our target."
"He's a Devil Fruit user. Get him out over the sea, and he won't be able to use much of his strength."
"I'm certain we can take him down!"
(By now, you should get the idea. Admiral Red Dog is going down. Looking forward to that fight? The author really hates that dog, so he has to be hunted down ︿( ̄︶ ̄)︿.)
Chapter 13
Aboard the Chris.
"What's the captain doing? Why isn't he back yet?"
Burgess kept looking toward the Town, but there was no sign of him.
Doc Q coughed. "I'm more curious... Will someone new be joining us?"
Pato ignored them. Holding his fishing rod, he bounced around and waved it with a grin.
"Let's go fishing! I'm catching a big one this time!"
Belo Betty took a drag on her cigarette and looked at Baccarat. "Did Chris say when he'd be back?"
Baccarat swept back her hair and smiled, every inch the elegant lady.
"Just wait. He'll be back soon."
Sure enough, a voice rang out.
"Crew, hoist the sails! We're off!"
A figure flashed, and Chris appeared on deck.
"The captain's back! Everyone, get moving."
The ship slowly left the shore and headed out to sea.
"Boss, you're back!"
Pato jumped onto Chris's shoulder, his favorite place to perch.
Burgess looked around. Seeing no one else, he asked, "Captain, isn't anyone new joining us?"
Doc Q sounded disappointed. "Looks like the fight for division captain will have to wait again."
Chris ignored them. He looked at Baccarat and nodded.
Then he went straight to the Training Room to push himself once more.
"Chris nodded at you. What does that mean? Can't you tell us in secret?"
Honey Queen blinked at Baccarat, her eyes bright with curiosity.
"Yeah, Baccarat! Come on, tell us."
Burgess immediately perked up and joined in.
Everyone looked at Baccarat, eager for an answer.
"You lot, honestly..."
Baccarat rolled her eyes. "Don't you know what Chris is like?"
"If I told you, do you think he'd let me off?"
"You're all trying to get me in trouble. If you want me punished, just say so!"
Doc Q glanced at them with an unsettling smile. "The captain doesn't mess around. Anyone who gets in the way of his plans will end up dead."
Burgess shrugged helplessly.
"Forget it. I'm not asking anymore. Don't need the trouble."
Pato sat on the railing with his fishing rod and turned to them. "What are you talking about? The boss is easy to talk to. He's not ruthless at all."
"What do you know?"
Belo Betty shot him a look. "Just focus on your fishing and stop talking nonsense."
Honey Queen smoothed her golden hair and smiled. "I'll leave you to it. I'm going to watch Chris train."
"Come on. We've got nothing else to do. Let's go together."
Baccarat took Honey Queen's hand, and they walked toward the Training Room, chatting and laughing.
When the three women entered the Training Room, they saw two things on the table.
A Devil Fruit and a book.
"Look it up and find out what power this fruit has."
Chris was doing one-handed exercises while inverted, training his Physical Arts.
Belo Betty glanced at the book on the table, shock spreading across her face.
"That's the Devil Fruit Encyclopedia!"
