Honey Queen froze. "Is that real?"

"I heard these things were incredibly rare. I thought it was just a rumor. I never imagined one actually existed."

Baccarat picked up the book. She knew where it had come from.

Vice Admiral Momousagi must have given it to Chris. There was no other possibility.

Five minutes later.

"Stop!"

Honey Queen pointed at a Devil Fruit in the book, beaming. "Look! It's exactly the same. We've found it this time."

Belo Betty glanced at the Devil Fruit on the table, then compared it with the illustration and nodded.

"It's an exact match. This is the one."

Baccarat lifted her head, looked ahead with her beautiful eyes, and smiled. "Chris, this is a Paramecia-type Sound Wave Fruit."

"The encyclopedia says that whoever eats it can turn their shouts into powerful sound-wave blasts."

"And the louder they shout, the more destructive the blasts become."

Honey Queen's eyes lit up. She seemed to have thought of something.

"I just realized this fruit would suit Burgess perfectly."

"That guy has a booming voice. If he ate this Devil Fruit, he could make full use of it."

Chris's voice came from inside.

"Take the fruit to him. Let him decide for himself."

Baccarat nodded and smiled. "I'll take it over."

Honey Queen patted Baccarat on the shoulder and said with a grin,

"Let's go together. I really want to see what this fruit can do."

Belo Betty said evenly, "What makes you so sure he'll eat it?"

"Some people couldn't care less about Devil Fruits. He might not want to become a user."

The three women soon arrived on deck.

Burgess was reclining in a deck chair, basking in the sun.

"Burgess, your luck's come in."

Honey Queen grinned at the big man.

Doc Q spotted the book in Baccarat's hands. Shock spread across his weathered face.

"The Devil Fruit Encyclopedia!"

"So the rumors were true. Incredible."

The moment Pato heard about something new, he perked up. He dropped his fishing rod and jumped over.

Belo Betty glanced at the little fellow. "You can think of it as a book that records Devil Fruits."

"So we finally know what fruit it is! Hurry up and tell me—will it suit me?"

Burgess had wanted to eat the Devil Fruit as soon as they found it.

But none of them knew what ability it granted, so they hadn't dared act rashly.

Baccarat handed him the fruit with a smile. "Take a look at the encyclopedia. It explains the ability."

She opened the book to the page on the Sound Wave Fruit.

"Turns sound into a laser blast..."

"The louder the shout, the greater the power..."

Burgess raised both arms in excitement and burst out laughing. "Perfect! This fruit was made for me! Wi-hahahaha!"

Doc Q looked at Baccarat and the others, then broke into a cough.

"What did the captain say? Does he want Burgess to eat it?"

Burgess came to his senses and hurriedly asked, "Right! What did the captain say? Does he think it suits me?"

Honey Queen rolled her eyes at him and gave a scoff. "Do you really think Chris would say anything like that?"

"He didn't even come over. How much do you think he'd say?"

Belo Betty glanced at Burgess. "Chris said to decide for yourself."

"That was it. Just one sentence."

Baccarat waved a hand to stop them from going on and explained.

"Chris is busy training. It's not really his place to tell you what to do, so he left the decision to you."

"Personally, though, I think this Devil Fruit suits you very well."

Doc Q gave an eerie smile. "That's our captain. He doesn't bother with little things like this."

Burgess shrugged helplessly.

"Our captain's cruel. He doesn't care about his crew at all."

"But I'm definitely eating this fruit."

With that, he took a huge bite.

Ugh...

His expression changed at once, his face turning a sickly purple.

Honey Queen covered her mouth and giggled. "The look on your face is hilarious!"

Belo Betty shook her head slightly and sighed.

"Seeing him like that reminds me of when I ate a Devil Fruit. Disgusting."

Pato bounced up and down, his little face bright with excitement. "Captain Burgess, try out your ability! It's got to be amazing!"

"Then watch closely. Try not to be too shocked!"

Burgess strode to the railing and faced the open sea.

ROAR!

He opened his mouth wide. Blue-white light appeared inside it, gathering steadily.

WHOOSH!

A blue-white beam shot from his mouth and streaked across the sea.

BOOM!

An explosion sounded far out at sea.

Waves surged upward with astonishing force.

Everyone was stunned by the sight.

"Captain Burgess is incredible!"

The crew members, who had been busy working, hurriedly cheered and applauded him.

Honey Queen stared in amazement. "What a powerful Devil Fruit. That's terrifying!"

Belo Betty tossed away her cigarette butt. "That Devil Fruit certainly packs a punch. If someone took a direct hit..."

She shook her head and said no more.

Baccarat smiled at Burgess. "Congratulations, Captain Burgess. The position of First Division captain is yours for the taking now."

The praise went straight to Burgess's head. He raised both arms and laughed. "Wi-hahahaha!"

"Burgess, I think your chance has come."

Doc Q watched him with a mysterious smile. "You're so strong now. Why not challenge the captain for his position?"

Burgess glared at him and cursed.

"Are you trying to get me killed? Get lost!"

"Challenge him yourself. I don't have the guts. I'd like to live a few more years."

Pato bounced about, grinning. "That was fun! That fruit's so interesting!"

Baccarat looked at the other two women and smiled. "Let's go back to the Training Room."

The three of them headed back, chatting and laughing as they went to watch Chris train again...

Four days later.

In the waters near Kanglinya Town.

Inside the Training Room.

"Chris, take a break from training. Our luck's come in again."

Baccarat leaned against a chair with her legs crossed. She gazed at his imposing figure, her eyes sparkling.

"More good luck? I wonder what it'll be this time. I can't wait!"

Honey Queen's eyes lit up, interest filling her beautiful face.

Belo Betty shrugged and looked at Baccarat with admiration. "Every time you say that, I can hardly believe it."

"Your fruit ability really is something."

"Then let's go ashore." Chris wiped away his sweat with a towel, tossed it aside, and strode toward the door.

The three beautiful women followed him without another word, heading for the deck together...
