So the "information" White Ghost had deliberately glossed over had to be something extraordinary. Otherwise, Crocus would never have left the decision to Rayleigh...

But Crocus, who had left the ship so early, did not fully understand the state of the Pirate King's ship that had once reached Laugh Tale...

Mr. Tom sighed. "Actually, I know where the Oro Jackson is."

Adrian perked up. "Would you tell me where it is, Mr. Tom?"

"Come with me..."

Mr. Tom led Adrian into the storeroom behind his workshop. Picking his way through piles of old junk, he found a hidden door. He pulled it open, revealing a pit partly exposed to the sky.

The pit's "walls" were built entirely from the remains of countless ships, with no smooth surface in sight. At the bottom lay a deep, dark pool.

Faint sunlight slanted through a round opening several meters wide overhead and spilled across the sailing ship moored on the pool.

It was a massive, weather-beaten three-masted ship.

Its crimson sails had faded to gray-white and hung in tatters, with scorch marks from fire and explosives still visible. Countless deep scars slashed across its boldly striped hull, and the cannon ports lining both sides had rusted badly.

Of the two symmetrical golden mermaid figureheads, the one on the right had lost the lower half of its body. The huge dark-brown iron ram jutting from the bow like a spear had been snapped off by some unknown act of violence.

The worst damage lay between the cabin and the deck: a tremendous slash had nearly cleaved the entire ship in two. Its forward section had broken completely away from the rest!
