"This church is seriously ridiculous." Damian walked up to the second floor, where the offices and classrooms were.
"This is where they have their lessons."
"Why are there bullet holes up... never mind. Even Deadshot teaches here. This is nothing." Damian peered through a classroom window. Jason was inside, repairing a wall.
"Uh... is that Jason?"
"Yes. He was the first child Roland took in." Bruce knocked on the door. "What are you doing?"
"That bastard Red Hood wrecked the wall in Roland's office during a fight, so I fixed it myself to save some money," Jason explained. "Once I finished that, Roland gave me some cash to fix up the other places too. No sense wasting the materials, and I get to recoup some of my losses."
"Oh, I see..." Bruce nodded.
"Aren't he and Red Hood the same person?" Damian was confused.
"Red Hood is a Jason from another universe," Bruce explained.
"Do you think I owe him something?" Jason complained as he spread putty over the wall. "First I ended up in his universe out of nowhere, which scared the hell out of me. Then he came here and nearly demolished my home. I even had to help him work through his issues. And when that bastard left, he gave Roland those embarrassing photos of himself. What did I ever do to him?"
"That really wasn't very decent of him," Bruce agreed.
"Still, you're to blame too. Look at how you raise people... I was such a sweet kid, and you turned me into a little monster."
"Nonsense. He's a good kid too." Batman shook his head.
"Depends who you compare him to..."
"In the multiverse, some proud people always think they're the best version of themselves," Bruce said with a sigh.
"Are you like that too?"
