Long ago, before Carol and Green Lantern broke up, Carol had been chosen as queen by the Zamarons, an immortal race of alien warrior women.
But at the time, Carol and Hal Jordan were deeply in love. She loved Hal and had no desire to leave Earth.
The Zamarons were bitterly disappointed, so they brainwashed Carol and controlled her with an alien crystal, turning her into the villain Star Sapphire.
Later, Green Lantern defeated Star Sapphire. Deciding she was unfit to lead their race, the Zamarons erased Carol's memories of being Star Sapphire.
And now, Carol remembered everything.
