"Shit!" Seeing Clayface trying to split off part of his body to snatch the pearl, Roland channeled Entangling force through both hands, winding the mud around them.
Just then, Batman dropped from above with a small steel canister in hand. He sprayed Clayface's body, freezing him solid.
The extreme cold prevented Clayface from freely changing shape, leaving him rooted to the spot.
"Is that... anti-Clayface spray?" Roland asked.
"Liquid nitrogen," Batman explained. "I've kept some ready ever since Clayface's last escape. Sure enough, it came in handy."
"How did you get here so fast?"
"The Batmobile was on standby. Of course I was fast." Batman hoisted Clayface onto his shoulder. "I'll take him back first. Be careful. That pearl is worth a fortune. Don't let anyone steal it."
"I'm planning to leave it with the auction house and wait for the next auction," Roland said.
Batman didn't answer. He fired his grappling hook at the auction hall's ceiling and left with Clayface.
Roland found the auctioneer in his hiding place and handed him the pearl. "Things went wrong this time. Just sell it at the next auction."
"Certainly. This disturbance was a failure on our security's part. We're very sorry for the inconvenience..." The auctioneer wore a strained expression. No amount of extra security could stop someone like Clayface, who could change size and shape wherever he pleased.
Maybe I should suggest hiring Batman as a security consultant? He doesn't look short of money, but we're a Wayne family business. Is there anyone in all of Gotham City richer than they are?
"Oh, and your Bible signed by Albert Einstein sold for eighty thousand dollars. Could you give us your bank account number..."
"I don't have a bank account. How about cash?" Roland said.
"...Certainly." The auctioneer nodded, found the
