Background and History

Sasuke is born as Mikoto's younger son and Itachi's little brother. The birth account names Fugaku as his father; later chapters consistently portray Yufeng as the father Sasuke addresses and seeks to impress 159 184 251. As a child, Sasuke admires Itachi's shuriken skill and eagerly tries to copy him, once injuring his ankle while training in weights 191.

After Itachi is publicly named an S-rank rogue ninja responsible for killing many Uchiha, Sasuke asks Yufeng whether the accusation is true. Yufeng confirms it but withholds the circumstances of Itachi's mission. Sasuke takes Yufeng's imitation of Itachi's forehead poke as encouragement to train and surpass his brother 197 198. Bringing Itachi back remains a driving goal 304 377.

Kakashi leads Sasuke alongside Naruto and Sakura in Team 7 219. During the Chūnin Exams, Sasuke confronts opponents including Rock Lee and Uchiha Izumi. Both expose limits that his Sharingan alone cannot overcome 251 262 263. He earns promotion to Chūnin, then continues training; Mikoto gives him Yufeng's scroll on basic Sharingan applications 304.

After more than two and a half years away, Sasuke returns to Konoha and challenges Shisui. He shows improved swordsmanship and Three-Tomoe Sharingan control, but Shisui defeats him 376 377. On the subsequent Sunagakure mission, Sasuke fights Deidara with Team 7, uses Sage Jutsu against him, and repeatedly demands information about Itachi 382 384. Later, believing he has glimpsed Itachi inside the collapsing Land of Sky ruins, Sasuke tries to search them despite Naruto and Sakura urging him to escape 422.

Personality

Sasuke is proud, competitive and eager to measure himself against stronger shinobi. Defeats by Lee, Izumi and Shisui sharpen his resolve rather than ending it; Yufeng's approval matters deeply to him 251 263 288 377. He is usually reserved, but the possibility of finding Itachi can make him reckless 376 422.

He also looks after his teammates in combat. Sasuke intervenes when Naruto is attacked, positions himself before Sakura, and later encourages Sakura to trust her own ability to recognize a genjutsu 227 249. His rivalry with Naruto continues alongside their ability to fight together 229 382 416.

Sharingan

• His Two-Tomoe Sharingan reads and copies Izumi's movements, though her superior speed and experience still overwhelm him 262.
• He detects the illusion disguising the Chūnin Exam registration entrance 249.
• After his extended training, he uses the Three-Tomoe Sharingan while sparring with Shisui 377.

Ninjutsu and chakra nature

• Chakra Paper identifies Lightning Release as one of his affinities; he subsequently masters Chidori 285 288.
• He uses Fire Release techniques including Great Fireball and Dragon Flame Jutsu 262 263.
• He defeats a group of Sky Ninja with swift Lightning Release strikes 418.

Taijutsu, weapons and summons

• Sasuke trains in taijutsu, removes training weights to increase his fighting speed, and develops swordsmanship strong enough to earn Shisui's praise 229 285 377.
• He combines shuriken, explosive kunai and Transparent Thread in an attempt to trap Izumi 263.
• Training in the Three Great Sage Regions broadens his summoning and Sage Jutsu skills, particularly through Ryūchi Cave. He summons a white snake to absorb Deidara's explosion and later calls on Manda against fleeing Akatsuki members 382 385.
