Luofan began the Second Sea God Trial, which required him to cross the Ring Sea without killing Soul Beasts or using Soul Ring skills. He used his speed, healing, and teleportation to evade the creatures and reach about two-thirds of the way across, with the Hundred-Thousand-Year Demon Soul Great White Shark pursuing him.
Luofan completed the Sea God’s Third Trial after a year of Tidal Body Tempering, raising his Soul Power to level 57 and earning 15% Sea God Affinity. He postponed the Fourth Trial until he was stronger, left Sea God Island to explore the continent, and eventually teleported to a familiar city.
Luofan teleported to Suotuo City and ran into Tang San and Xiao Wu at the gates. He confronted Tang San for withholding Controlling Crane, Capturing Dragon in their earlier transaction, leaving Tang San demanding to know how Luofan knew about the technique.
Luofan met Tang San and Xiao Wu, who recognized him as the author of Legend of the White Snake and eagerly questioned him about the novel and his travels. Tang San remained suspicious of Luofan’s knowledge of Controlling Crane, Capturing Dragon and persuaded him to enter the city with them.
Luofan stopped in Suotuo City with Xiao Wu and encountered Dai Mubai, who had clashed with Tang San. When Dai Mubai challenged Luofan, Luofan revealed two Martial Souls, each with five black Ten Thousand Year Soul Rings, leaving Dai Mubai and Tang San stunned.
Luofan revealed that both of his Martial Souls had five black Ten Thousand Year Soul Rings, stunning Tang San and frightening Dai Mubai. Dai Mubai challenged Luofan anyway, and the chapter ended with Luofan teleporting in front of him and striking toward a cursor on his forehead.
Luofan defeated Dai Mubai with his unusual versions of Tang San’s martial arts, then explained some of their effects over dinner. Tang San agreed to give Luofan Controlling Crane, Capturing Dragon in exchange for learning more about Luofan’s cultivation.
Luofan refused to explain why his Controlling Crane, Capturing Dragon results differed from Tang San’s, and Tang San attacked him in anger. Luofan’s Golden Entry [Unrestricted] nullified Tang San’s binding skill, and Luofan left Tang San pinned beneath the Exquisite Pagoda as he approached with killing intent.
After Dai Mubai returned to Shrek Academy injured, Flender learned that Tang San and Xiao Wu were in Suotuo City and went there with Zhao Wuji. They arrived as Luofan pinned Tang San beneath his pagoda, and Flender praised Tang San’s refusal to apologize.
Luofan faced Flender and Zhao Wuji, imprisoned Flender in the Exquisite Pagoda, and overwhelmed Zhao Wuji with his enhanced strength. After controlling Tang San to make him attack Zhao Wuji, Luofan dodged Zhao Wuji’s roar and broke his ribs with a kick.
Luofan escaped Tang Hao after defeating Zhao Wuji and flew to Holy Soul Village, where he searched for the Blue Silver Emperor. He found a hidden cave on the mountain behind the village, leaving his plan to target Tang San’s mother poised to continue.
Luofan found the Blue Silver Emperor and her hundred-thousand-year-old right leg bone, then returned to Heaven Dou City after spending over a year on Sea God Island. He reunited with Qian Renxue and began explaining how he had ended up overseas.
After returning from Sea God Island, Luofan told Qian Renxue about his progress in the Sea God's Divine Trials and learned that Yue Guan had been punished for losing him. Luofan decided to take Yue Guan to the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well to win him over with Immortal Herbs, and invited him outside the city to check whether the herbs had matured.
Luofan went to the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well with Yue Guan, picked the Singular Velvet Sky Chrysanthemum, and then dove to the well’s bottom to search for the Ice Dragon King and Fire Dragon King’s remains. Guided by his Azure Dragon King Martial Soul, he began digging deeper into the earth, closing in on what it sensed.
