Background
Scarpe and her boyfriend, Quilod, operated Dawnstar as a small self-funded private adventuring party. Their limited funds led Scarpe to recruit Fang Heng as an accompanying alchemist for only room and board—far below the Artisan's Guild's protected minimum wage for alchemists on expeditions. She soon realized his craftsmanship and Clockwork Sprite operation were unusually valuable. 1
She is wary of major guilds and their members, particularly Miya, whom she considers untrustworthy. Her distrust is rooted in the danger larger factions pose to independent mercenaries in the First World. 2 4
Scarpe and Quilod discuss leaving adventuring as major guilds increasingly enter the First World. Although she agrees with the concern, she wishes to remain long enough to mentor Fang Heng and steer him toward becoming a proper alchemist. 4
Appearance
Scarpe is a light-built female elf ranger with pointed ears. Her elven racial talents complement her scouting ability. 1 6
- Carries a longbow for ranged combat. 4 7
- Uses gloves fitted with a metal casing and adjustable nuts. 3
- Has lightning-element Magic Adaptability, associated with quick reactions and ranged professions such as archers and gunners. 2
Personality
Scarpe is confident, sharp-tongued, and playful. She regularly teases Fang Heng about his lack of Magic Adaptability, his ambitions, and his feelings for Miya, often punctuating her scolding with a slap to the head. 1 3 4
Beneath her sarcasm, she is protective and practical. She repeatedly intervenes when Fang Heng acts recklessly, warns him not to trust the factions inside the ruins, and prioritizes his survival because Dawnstar needs its only alchemist. 5 6 9
She values adventure despite recognizing its brutality. Her resolve to mentor Fang Heng reflects both her belief in his talent and her concern that his stubbornness will get him killed. 4 5

Scouting and Reconnaissance
Scarpe is an accomplished ranger whose scouting is enhanced by elven racial talents.

- Can identify subtle signs and foreign objects at significant distances through advanced reconnaissance abilities. 21
- Estimated Qin Zhi's sniping position at least five hundred feet away, despite it exceeding her own effective range. 6

Archery
Scarpe is a ranged combatant who fights with a longbow.
- Fired an arrow through an airborne ranger's throat after Fang Heng disrupted the target's movement with a Clockwork Sprite. 4
- Used her bow to force a druid's Forest Giant Wolf to react during the confrontation in the Zone of Silence. 7
- Her effective range is substantially shorter than Silver Veil sniper Qin Zhi's. 6
Tactical Command
Scarpe remains composed under pressure and coordinates Dawnstar's movements during ambushes.
- Organized the team into three groups to measure Qin Zhi's attack interval and create an escape opportunity for Fang Heng. 6
- Directed the group into ruined buildings when frost arrows struck, then helped Fang Heng retreat from the pursuing Guardian. 7
- Recognized Fang Heng as Dawnstar's critical asset for activating the Blade of Tara and ordered the group to protect him. 6
Equipment
- Longbow — Her primary ranged weapon. 4 7
- Ranger gloves — Metal-cased gloves whose fittings she adjusts before battle. 3

- Dawnstar Adventuring Group — Serves as a leading ranger, scout, and tactical commander for the group. 1 6
Story Role / Major Arcs
Vanna Forest Expedition
Scarpe recruits Fang Heng's services for Dawnstar's expedition to the Elven Ruins. She discovers a Clockwork Sprite during reconnaissance and becomes impressed by Fang Heng's ability to operate it despite his lack of Magic Adaptability. 1
When Dawnstar is contracted to activate the campaign-class Magic Device, the Blade of Tara, Scarpe places Fang Heng alongside herself and Quilod in the support team. She gives him a Magic Musket and explains Dawnstar's mercenary principle: work is done for payment. 3
During Fang Heng's first battle against the Silverwood Spear, Scarpe supports his shot with a decisive arrow after he uses a Clockwork Sprite to disrupt an enemy ranger. She later warns him that Miya has disappeared into the ruins and cannot be trusted. 4
Elven Ruins and the Zone of Silence
Scarpe takes command during Dawnstar's ambush by Silver Veil sniper Qin Zhi. She creates a staggered escape plan and orders Fang Heng to flee only after the other groups have drawn fire. 6
In the Zone of Silence, she rescues Fang Heng from a druid's hostage attempt and helps the survivors escape the ancient Guardian. When the construct worm is drawn to Miya's glowing crystal dagger, Scarpe removes Fang Heng's backpack and throws it down to divert the creature. 7 8
After the ruins collapse, Scarpe pushes Fang Heng clear and is buried beneath rubble. He digs her out and carries her through the underground tunnels as her injuries worsen. 8
Final Instructions in the Ruins
As Fang Heng attempts to seek help from nearby mercenaries, Scarpe stops him and reveals that Dawnstar's mercenaries were lured into the dead zone as expendable cannon fodder. She gives him her Glowstone so its footage can expose the truth and urges him to survive. 9
Scarpe subsequently dies from her injuries in Fang Heng's presence. Her death drives him to avenge her against her attackers and commit himself to preserving Dawnstar's name. 9 10
Retirement
A later account depicts Scarpe alive alongside other Dawnstar members while completing her Chosen retirement procedures. She sells her assets through the Russian Federation's office and applies for permanent residency there with Quilod. 16
