The earth giant lunged at Voldemort. A vicious glint flashed in his eyes.
"Avada Kedavra!" he shouted. Green light struck the giant's chest.
The giant stiffened. Cracks spread across its body, but it did not stop. It raised an enormous fist and swung at Voldemort.
Voldemort dodged, but the giant's other fist was already coming down.
He retreated again and again, whipping his wand through the air. Spells flew one after another, blasting holes in the giant's body. The cracks spread deeper, yet it kept moving, kept pursuing him.
"You think this is enough to defeat me?" Voldemort's voice rose to a shriek as he thrust his wand toward the sky.
A massive bolt of lightning struck the giant squarely on the head. It collapsed in the flash, crumbling into stone and earth that scattered across the ground.
Voldemort breathed heavily, his black robes coated in dust. His eyes still burned a frightening scarlet.
"Dumbledore," he said, "you truly haven't disappointed me. How surprising that you've reached this level of mastery over the soul."
Dumbledore stood behind the rubble, his silver-white hair stirring in the wind. His robes remained immaculate, without a speck of dust.
"Tom," he said, "stop now. You've lost."
"Lost?" Voldemort laughed, the sound grating in the darkness. "My power hasn't fully returned. My army hasn't assembled. You can't take me down, Dumbledore. Besides, I am immortal!"
"Horcruxes are not indestructible," Dumbledore interrupted. "I've been to the Cave."
Voldemort's smile froze.
"How do you know?" His voice turned cold as a polar wind.
Dumbledore merely watched him. "I was your professor, Tom."
Voldemort stared at him for a long time, then suddenly laughed. It was a hoarse, low sound, thick with anger.
"You think that can stop me? You think destroying those little things will kill me?"
