"Astoria Greengrass comes from the Greengrass family, one of the Sacred Twenty-Eight. She entered Hogwarts in 1993. Her sister is Daphne, who previously asked to join the High Tower and was turned down.
"But I can assure you Astoria isn't like her sister. Daphne firmly believes in pure-blood superiority, but Astoria doesn't.
"Her grades are good, too, and she's capable enough at practical spellwork. After weighing everything, I nominate Astoria."
If events followed the original timeline, she would eventually become Draco's wife and have a strained relationship with her mother-in-law, Narcissa. But that tension would stem from Astoria's refusal to teach her son that Muggles were scum.
By that measure, Astoria seemed decent enough.
Still, nominating members of the Greengrass family one after another felt a little strange.
"He's not lying. I've spent time with Astoria. She's more human than her sister," Sylvia added.
No one took issue with her assessment of Daphne. Everyone present knew Daphne was a pure-blood supremacist, and she had treated Will poorly at first.
"Think it over. We'll vote in one minute." Will's manner remained calm.
A minute later, nine voted in favor and five abstained. Will did not vote, and Astoria Greengrass became the High Tower's sixteenth member.
Michael Corner was the second to make a nomination.
"I nominate Terry Boot. He's in Ravenclaw and, like most of us, started in 1991..."
The discussion quickly grew lively.
"I nominate Katie Bell..."
"I nominate Justin Finch-Fletchley..."
In the end, only four of the eleven nominees were approved: Astoria Greengrass, Justin Finch-Fletchley, Terry Brown, and Cho Chang.
Colin Creevey, whom Neville nominated, met with unanimous opposition. It wasn't that anyone disliked Colin, but as Harry's biggest fan, he wasn't a good fit for the High Tower unless he changed that habit first.
