Jerry and the others followed Ross into the domed main hall of the Ministry of Magic headquarters. Constellations adorned its vaulted ceiling.
The constellations on the ceiling took the shapes of fantastic beasts, including Graphorns, Demiguises, Mooncalves, Occamies, fire dragons, Murtlaps, Nifflers, Hippogriffs, and Streelers.
The walls were made of Art Nouveau glass and green steel frames. Behind one stood a heavy bronze reception desk, while rows of gold-and-green filing cabinets occupied the center of the room, each drawer bearing its own number.
They had barely entered when a receptionist in the main hall approached and asked the purpose of their visit.
After Ross exchanged a few words with the receptionist, they were allowed through into the offices beyond.
The Pure-Blood Party and the Apostles had actually given Jerry floor plans of the French Ministry of Magic long ago, so he already knew what each floor housed. Still, he certainly wasn't going to pass up a chance to look around in person.
The Department of Mysteries occupied the Ministry's deepest underground level, with the Aurors' offices directly above it.
Portraits hung along the corridors here. If an intruder was detected, they would change to display the intruder's face, while alarms rang through the corridors.
This won't be easy! Jerry sighed inwardly.
"This is where we Aurors usually work!"
Jerry followed Ross into the Auror Office, carefully studying his surroundings while putting on an expression of longing, admiration, and awe.
"Ross, who are these people?"
"Allow me to introduce you. This is Vincent Martin, our Ministry's Head of the Auror Office."
At the sight of the potbellied Vincent Martin, Ross hurriedly added, "He's the pride of the French Ministry of Magic's Aurors!"
