Crack! Crack!
Bones snapped out of place as the Water Ghost broke the necks of every Imposter in the dorm room.
You liked stripping my clothes off, huh?
You liked locking me up, huh?
Chen Feng spat on an Imposter, then stomped on it twice for good measure.
That felt better.
"Come on. Upstairs."
According to the notebook, they needed a key to cross the sports field and get through the main gate.
Chen Feng knew he ought to question what the notebook said. After what had happened with the Landlady, he should be wary of anyone who showed him kindness for no reason.
But from the moment he first saw Li Guolong, Chen Feng had felt a strange familiarity. He just couldn't shake the feeling that Li Guolong wouldn't lie to him.
Sometimes, caution mattered.
Other times, he had to trust his gut.
Chen Feng reached the third floor and found the room marked OFFICE.
The moment he pushed the door open, a cold draft hit him, making him shiver.
"Damn monster knows how to live it up."
"Won't even put a fan in the student dorms, but keeps his own office as cold as the Ice Age."
The office was simply furnished: white walls painted with slogans, a sofa for visitors, a coffee table with a tea set, a standing air conditioner, a desk, and, in the chair behind it, a familiar goat's face.
Professor Sheep smiled kindly. "Staying up late is what bad children do. What brings you here instead of to bed at this hour, student?"
Chen Feng had expected this. His investigation had shown that, apart from the day the three of them escaped, Professor Sheep always stayed in his office after class.
He didn't know how they had managed to lure the professor away that day.
But this time, there was no avoiding the fight.
Chen Feng got straight to the point. "I'm here to fight the boss."
Professor Sheep rose, his gaze turning hostile. "Playing online games is what bad children do. Student, I see games have poisoned your mind."
As he spoke, Professor Sheep suddenly felt a pair of cold, slippery hands close around his throat.
He had fallen for it.
Chen Feng sneered inwardly. While he had deliberately provoked Professor Sheep to draw his attention, the Water Ghost had slipped into the room.
Time to snap a goat's neck. Simple as that.
But just as the Water Ghost made its move, a flash of white light filled the room.
"Not good!"
Chen Feng's vision blurred. Then his muscles seized and his whole body convulsed, as though countless needles were stabbing him. Every cell hurt.
With a thud, Chen Feng and the Water Ghost hit the floor at the same time.
The gap in strength was too great.
Chen Feng sighed inwardly. We got the drop on him and still ended up like this. Water Ghost, are you any use at all?
The Water Ghost clearly wasn't.
It had barely stood up when another arc of electricity struck it, sending it to its knees again.
Up, down. Up, down. After several rounds, a scorched smell filled the room, and flames flared.
The electric arcs had thrown off sparks. Those sparks had landed on the Water Ghost and ignited the oil on its corpse.
"Cough, cough!"
Chen Feng could hardly bear to watch. They were already outmatched, and now the professor had hit the Water Ghost's weakness. How the hell were they supposed to fight?
The only way to turn things around was to use Blessings.
And not just one. With the Water Ghost injured like that, Hua Tuo's Blessing was a must. He would also need a Blessing to boost their fighting strength. It would cost at least three Points.
Chen Feng quickly decided against it.
He had spent three Points in one go to deal with the Landlady because destroying the Happiness Internet Cafe would complete a quest and earn him more Points.
But killing Professor Sheep would bring him nothing beyond a way out of this place.
Besides, even with the advantage of a sneak attack, the Water Ghost hadn't lasted a single exchange. Professor Sheep had practically crushed it single-handedly. Chen Feng wasn't sure they could win even with Blessings.
"Clearing this in one run is still too hard."
"Next time, maybe I can get the Water Ghost a rubber bodysuit."
Before long, a charred corpse lay on the floor.
[Water Ghost: Deceased]
Whether it was to save Li Guolong and the others or bring the Water Ghost back, Chen Feng knew he had to give up this life.
Professor Sheep asked coldly, "Any last words?"
Chen Feng answered calmly, "I'll tell you next time."
"Raving nonsense. Utterly unreasonable."
Professor Sheep swept both hands forward. A pillar of lightning shot out and swallowed Chen Feng in a blaze of dazzling light.
Cold. Darkness.
The Pig-Headed Man's bulky figure came into view. "Awake?"
Back in the dark room again.
[Save-Load Count: 3] [System Points: 10]
"Clothes. Off."
"You got it."
Without a moment's hesitation, Chen Feng stripped himself completely naked.
The Pig-Headed Man froze. He had seen plenty of students: some wailed, some fought back, and some fainted from fear. He had never seen anyone as eager as Chen Feng.
He had no idea what to do with that.
After a long pause, the Pig-Headed Man said, "Good. Obedient. Come with me."
Sure enough, if I don't resist, I can skip solitary confinement!
Chen Feng grinned and was about to follow him out when the Pig-Headed Man stopped him and tossed him a camouflage uniform. "Clothes. Put them on. No streaking."
Even a monster couldn't stand the sight.
It was still morning.
Chen Feng followed the Pig-Headed Man to the classroom without trouble.
When the students in class saw someone new, they all looked at him with sympathy.
Yellow Hair, sitting in the corner, sighed. "Another person's entered the game instance."
The fat guy was speechless. "My god, can you not stop talking about games? If the professor hears you, he'll zap you for sure."
Li Guolong kicked them both. "Shh. Keep it down."
Under the professor's watchful eye, Chen Feng picked a desk at random and sat down. Then he secretly called up the system.
First, because he had loaded his save, the Mythic Three Kingdoms Shop he had exchanged for earlier was gone. But he could still spend Points to use abilities he had previously obtained.
"Only Lu Xun, Ma Chao, and Diaochan are left now."
"I should've used Hua Tuo's Blessing last time. I could've learned the details of their escape from Yellow Hair and had another way to stay alive."
Chen Feng regretted it.
As for the Water Ghost that had been destroyed last time, loading his save had naturally brought it back. But without rain, he couldn't summon it on land.
Finally, there was the newly appeared box.
Identifier KH-02-SBFS. It said: "It is too late, organism."
Another system he could exchange for?
One from a science-fiction world?
What kind of system had "SB" at the start of its Identifier?
Chen Feng didn't want to spend any Points right now. He had already realized something terrifying.
If the Quest System never shows up again, won't I be screwed?
I've only got ten Points. That's enough to come back a dozen times at most. It still doesn't feel like enough.
But no matter how short he was on Points, the xianxia quest was too absurd.
So after weighing his options for a while, Chen Feng chose the system from the sports world.
