Background / History

Li Guolong was taken to the Internet Addiction Rehabilitation Academy, which captures people found at internet cafés without identification. By the time he discusses an escape plan with Chen Feng, he, Fatty, and Yellow Hair have been imprisoned for six months 17 21.

The academy erased his existence from the outside world. His parents no longer believed they had a son, his photographs disappeared, and records of his achievements were reassigned to others. His father is the police officer Captain Li; the inscription “To Father” on Captain Li’s treasured lighter remains a clue to their lost family connection 17 22.

Li and his companions used a map and office key left by former student Chen Xinran to plan their escape. The notebook also recorded Professor Sheep’s annual absence at the end of July, providing a window in which they could obtain the key needed to cross the academy’s fog-bound field 21.

After escaping, Li remained with Chen Feng’s group and began cultivating the Mysterious Tortoise Longevity Art, which Chen Feng shared with him, Fatty, and Yellow Hair. Li was the quickest of the three to grasp it 79. In a future observed by Chen Feng before a Load Save, Li advanced as far as Foundation Establishment; that breakthrough and its consequences were undone when Chen reset the timeline 80 81.

Personality

Li is cautious about strangers and openly contemptuous of cooperation with the academy. In one reset, he dismisses Chen Feng as a “lapdog” after seeing him report another student. Nevertheless, he is willing to negotiate when Chen offers to obtain the escape key, making trust conditional on a concrete contribution 20.

His caution does not prevent self-sacrifice. When the group cannot open the academy gate, he volunteers to enter the dangerous sanatorium alone to cut the power. Later, he knowingly draws the Rabbit Nurse away despite being warned that she can kill him after watching him for a full minute 22 29.

Li remains concerned about prisoners left behind after his own escape. He presses Chen Feng to help them and posts about the academy’s crimes online, although this attempt to raise awareness exposes the group to further danger 31. He thanks Chen on behalf of the captives when Chen promises to return for them 31.

He also remains protective of his companions. During a later Flesh Monster encounter, he recognizes that an apparently starving man is moving suspiciously fast and pulls Yellow Hair away from the ensuing attack 146.

• At Foundation Establishment in the same future, he can destroy an entire street with a casual strike and withstand a prolonged fight with the Great Yokai, though he cannot defeat him 81.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Academy Guide and First Escape Attempt

Li introduces Chen Feng to the academy’s capture criteria, informant rewards, and erasure of prisoners’ identities. He later tells Chen to sit beside the classroom window during morning reading before disappearing overnight with Fatty and Yellow Hair 17.

Professor Sheep returns only Fatty and Yellow Hair, both transformed into Imposters. Li’s absence leaves Chen uncertain whether he escaped or died; that timeline does not establish his fate 18.

Escape with Chen Feng

After a reset, Li initially distrusts Chen but accepts his offer to obtain the required key. At the gate, the Sheep-Face Key fails to open the iron lock. Li volunteers to enter the sanatorium and asks the others to contact his father if they escape, but Chen tears the lock apart before he can leave 20 21 22.

Outside the academy, Li reports their captivity to the police. Professor Sheep catches up with the group, however, and the responding officers accept his claim that they are escaped psychiatric patients. Li protests, but the attempted appeal to ordinary authorities fails 23 24.

Sanatorium Rescue and Successful Flight

In a later loop, Li enters the sanatorium to cut the power. Chen intercepts him and falsely claims to be working for Captain Li. After verifying Chen’s knowledge of his father, Li supplies the Sheep-Face Key and agrees to lure the Rabbit Nurse away so Chen can steal the second key needed to free She Qingqing 28 29.

Li survives the distraction and helps execute the final escape plan after Chen defeats the Nurse through her Logbook. The group releases captives to divert attention, avoids surveillance, and reaches Happiness Internet Cafe 29 30.

Online Exposure

While hiding at the café, Li urges action for the academy’s remaining prisoners. His online posts about its crimes expose the group to danger, followed by an attack involving white-coated intruders and a compulsory chant that causes combustion 31.

After resetting and escaping the chant’s memory-based curse, Chen finds Li registering a forum account. He warns Li not to repeat the action and smashes the monitor 32.

Cultivation and the Great Yokai

Chen shares the Mysterious Tortoise Longevity Art with Li, Fatty, and Yellow Hair. Li begins absorbing qi almost immediately, surprising Chen with his aptitude 79.

During a future that Chen spends years observing, Li returns to the academy after reaching late Qi Refining. Later, after a street sweeper is killed attempting Foundation Establishment and Fatty and Yellow Hair become afraid to try, Li attempts the breakthrough on a deserted mountain. He survives by converting six hundred years of lifespan into defense, despite the Great Yokai having altered Cihang City’s tribulation to strike early with Nascent Soul-level power 80.

The Great Yokai arrives after Li’s breakthrough. Li fights him and damages much of the mountain, but the Great Yokai is never seriously pressed and kills him. Chen subsequently uses Load Save to return ten years into the past, undoing that outcome 81.

Search for Captain Li and Later Resets

Chen later selects Li to help find Captain Li. Li guides Chen, Old Wolf, and Erha to the police family housing compound, but when citywide chaos begins, his search for his father yields nothing 133 146.

In another timeline, Li stays behind to cover the group’s escape from a monster attacking a supermarket and is killed. Fatty and Erha mourn him, while Yellow Hair goes to train so he can avenge him. Chen’s subsequent Load Save restores Li; upon reappearing, Li immediately looks around for the enemy 153 159.
