Background and History
Ye Changsheng found the infant Ye Chuqi abandoned beside a road and brought her to Lush Mountain. Their master accepted her as a disciple and placed her in his care. He raised her, taught her swordsmanship, and insisted on years of painful body-tempering training. When she reached peak Qi Refining, he took her to a Secret Realm to gain experience; a Space-Time Rift swallowed her during an encounter with a Demonic Cultivator. He followed, but the rift separated them 469 470.
Badly injured, Changsheng awoke on an island in the Misty Sea, where the stranded Coroa Barton had tended him. Changsheng left to search for Chuqi, then reunited with Coroa years later in the Lost Forest. Coroa became his traveling companion and suggested that becoming widely known might help Chuqi find him 470 471.
Changsheng later discovered the City of Time and learned that Chuqi was not in that world. He trained five boys whose descendants became the Ye, Bai, Tang, Lu, and Yan families. He also raised thirteen islands from the Misty Sea, established formations around them, and gave Coroa the plans and resources to build a safe settlement there 472 473. The Ye Family inherited his surname but is not related to him by blood 297.
His search for Chuqi brought him into conflict with the Dark God, who coveted his power. Rather than confront the god directly, Changsheng struck the continent with his sword, dividing it and creating a barrier between its halves 455 475. Repeated attempts to cross the barrier later cost him his tails and memories in his original white-fox form. He met Chuqi again as Little White and instinctively protected her, but after passing through a weak point in the barrier, he awoke on Lush Mountain unable to remember what he had lost 476.
Appearance
Changsheng has long silver hair that drew stares even on Lush Mountain. Fellow disciples remarked on his resemblance to the similarly silver-haired Ye Chuqi 469.
- Original form — a white fox shown with eight visible tails after failed attempts to cross the barrier 476.
- Later form — an adolescent when he awakens on Lush Mountain 476.
Personality
Changsheng speaks little, and Coroa finds him nearly impossible to tease: his clear, cool gaze gives away nothing. Beneath that reserve, he cares for Chuqi through daily attention, demanding instruction, and a search he continues despite severe injuries 319 321 470 474. He supports Coroa’s puppet research but firmly warns him against methods involving cruelty or sacrifice 321.
