An old man who rivaled the cosmic gods
"You can't stop Galactus." Russell repeated Silver Surfer's words, his tone as light as if he were relaying a trivial weather forecast.
"That's right. You really can't stop him. You've served him for countless years, witnessed him devour countless planets, and you know his hunger can never be satisfied."
He paused.
"But just because you said you can't Galactus Galactus n't mean none of us can."
Silver Surfer's starlight pupils contracted slightly.
He slowly turned his head, his gaze lingering on Russell for a full five seconds.
Then his gaze passed over Russell and landed on the group of people behind him.
Magneto was the first to enter Silver Surfer, his eyes, which had seen so much, carrying a certain certainty, the composure of a veteran.
Silver Surfer could sense that the other party possessed a powerful force that seemed to manipulate magnetic fields, but this force was limited to the scale of a single planet.
Jean Grey, the flames of the Phoenix Force flickering around her.
The temperature of the Phoenix Fire does not exist on the physical level; it comes from something older than the universe.
The Cosmic Energy of the Silver Surfer was violently disturbed when it approached the flame, like a small river trying to understand the depths of the ocean.
The Phoenix Force? Although ancient, this level of Phoenix Force is far from enough to deal with Galactus.
Thanos, Silver Surfer recognized this overlord who had conquered countless Galaxy.
Although it's unclear why the other person is hanging out with Earth's Heroes.
But even he couldn't possibly fight Galactus alone.
As for Thanos's Black Order, that goes without saying.
Silver Surfer's gaze finally returned to Russell.
For the first time, he truly and earnestly faced the guardians of this earth.
Before coming to Earth, he had heard of Russell's name. This man who defeated Knull and made Odin willingly abdicate was indeed no ordinary person.
But no one truly believed that an Earthling could fight against a cosmic being like Galactus.
"Are you sure?" Silver Surfer asked, his voice even colder than before. "Are you sure that among the people behind you, anyone can stand against Galactus?"
Russell did not answer.
He merely tilted his head slightly, a very faint smile curving his lips.
Ebony Maw muttered to himself, "Of course not."
His voice was cold and restrained, with something bordering on sarcasm beneath that restraint.
"Did you hear what that messenger said? The Galactus is one of the five Creator God. He has devoured countless planets and countless Galaxy."
At the level of rules, his very existence is a balancing law of the universe.
He then raised his voice, his cold eyes sweeping over Magneto and Jean.
"And you, one is Mutants manipulates magnetic fields, and the other is Phoenix host who has not yet fully awakened."
Do you think you can stop Galactus?
"You're right." Magneto ignored Ebony Maw's sarcasm. "We truly cannot fight Galactus."
He paused.
"But Russell can."
Ebony Maw narrowed his eyes slightly.
"His victory over Knull was indeed remarkable, but Knull wasn't at his peak at the time, while Galactus..."
"It's different," Magneto finished his sentence for him, "I know."
He turned his head and looked at Russell.
"But Russell is different; you never know what miracles might happen to him."
Russell smiled slightly.
He doesn't need miracles to happen, because he can create miracles himself.
Silver Surfer calmly observed all of this, still harboring doubts that Russell could defeat Galactus.
"Are you confident you can defeat Galactus?" Silver Surfer asked.
Just when everyone present thought Russell would confidently nod and say that Galactus was nothing at all...
Russell looked at the Silver Surfer.
Then he shook his head.
"It wasn't me."
Silver Surfer's starlight pupils contracted sharply.
"What did you say?"
"I said," Russell's voice was soft, but every word landed clearly in everyone's ears.
"I didn't defeat Galactus."
He turned around, facing the city below.
On the streets of Manhattan, Mutants are still praying. In some corner of the city, in a fast-food restaurant in Queens, an old man is eating a hamburger and writing a story about Heroes.
"I could just pick anyone from any of the cities below," Russell emphasized, "And they could defeat Galactus."
There was a complete silence over the Hudson River for a full three seconds.
Then Ebony Maw seemed to be amused by the very funny joke.
Russell is indeed powerful, but to say that is a bit too confident.
"Choose anyone at random," Ebony Maw repeated, "To defeat Galactus."
He clasped his hands together and spoke to Thanos.
"Does he know what he's saying? Galactus is one of the five Creator God who has devoured countless planets."
"And he just stood there, telling us that any random person on Earth, a mortal who's never even left his own Planet, could defeat him?"
Thanos shook his head as well.
"Mr. Russell, I admit you are very strong. You have done many things that we could not do."
But the idea that just anyone could defeat Galactus is indeed somewhat impossible.
"Your Majesty," Ebony Maw added, seizing the opportunity, "You also think this is the person you're going to follow, a boastful madman."
Thanos didn't answer this time; he just looked at Russell, his deep eyes filled with complex emotions.
Magneto also looked at Russell, his aged face beneath his helmet still revealing no emotion, but his fingers tightened slightly.
Jean unconditionally trusted Russell; after all, this was the man she admired.
Corvus Glaive and Proxima Midnight exchanged a glance, while Cull Obsidian kept his head down.
The Supergiant's mental perception swept wildly around Russell, trying to find any trace that he was joking.
She found nothing.
Silver Surfer looked at Russell and shook his head slightly.
You don't believe me.
Russell knew that what he said seemed exaggerated to others.
"I don't believe it," Silver Surfer said firmly. "You think you can defeat Galactus by just picking anyone? That's impossible."
Russell wouldn't say something so surprising without a reason, but he didn't explain.
"So what do you think is possible?" he asked.
Silver Surfer did not answer.
"You think you've served Galactus for countless years, you've witnessed his immense power, that even the gods of the universe dare not confront him, therefore he is invincible."
"Perhaps you believe that only cosmic-level power can fight against cosmic-level power, and that these people on Earth are not even qualified to stand in front of you."
"But you're wrong."
Even an ordinary old man on Earth possesses a power that the Cosmic God ignore.
"Is the old man comparable to Cosmic God?" Silver Surfer whispered.
"Found it."
Russell's lips curled up slightly.
"An old man named Stan Lee is currently in a fast-food restaurant in Queens, eating a burger and writing a story about a Heroes."
